And this sect came supporting that Islam and faith are differentiated, that faith is a statement and action, and that prayer and almsgiving are part of faith, and Allah deemed them a religion, and informed that the religion with Him is Islam. Indeed, Allah named Islam by what He named faith, and similarly, the reports came about the Prophet.

So whoever claims that Islam is merely acknowledgment and that action is not part of it, indeed, has contradicted the Book and the Sunnah, and there is no difference between him and the Murji’ah, who claimed that faith is acknowledgment without action.

It is said: As for his saying that Allah made prayer and almsgiving part of the religion, and the religion with Him is Islam, this is a good statement conformant with the Hadith of Gabriel and refutes anyone who made action outside of Islam; it is a good statement.

And as for his saying: "Indeed, the believers are those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts tremble, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases their faith, and they rely on their Lord" [Al-Anfal].

And Allah, the Most High, said: 'And whoever seeks other than Islam as a religion, it will not be accepted from him.' [Al-Imran 85]
