And the third: Their saying that whoever the legislator disbelieved is only due to the absence of the heart's confirmation with the Lord, Blessed and Exalted; and many of the later scholars do not distinguish between the doctrines of the predecessors and the sayings of the Murji'ah and the Jahmiyyah due to the mixture of this with that in the speech of many of them, whom he in his inner self sees the opinion of the Jahmiyyah and the Murji'ah in faith, while he is most of the predecessors and the people of Hadith, so he assumes that he combines them or combines the speech of his likes with the speech of the predecessors.

Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Nasr al-Marwazi said: A third group said, and they are the majority of the people of the Sunnah and the community and the companions of Hadith: The faith that Allah has called the servants to and obligated upon them is Islam, which He has made a religion and approved for His servants and called them to it. It is against disbelief which He is displeased with, as He said: ﴿And He is not pleased with His servants' disbelief﴾ [Az-Zumar: ] And He said: ﴿And I have approved for you Islam as a religion﴾ [Al-Ma'idah: 3] And He said: ﴿So whoever desires Allah to guide him, He expands his chest to Islam﴾ [Al-An'am: 125] And He said: ﴿Is he who has been expanded by Allah's expansion for Islam, is he on a light from his Lord﴾ [Az-Zumar: 22]. And Allah praised Islam in the same way He praised faith, and made it a name of praise and commendation, informing that whoever submits, he is on light from his Lord and guidance, and He informed that it is His religion which He approved. And whoever He approved, He loved and praised him. Do you not see that the Prophets of Allah and His Messengers encouraged others towards it and asked Him for it? Abraham and Isma'il said: Our Lord, and make us Muslims for You; and of our descendants a Muslim nation for You﴾ [Al-Baqarah: 128]. Yusuf said: Cause me to die as a Muslim and unite me with the righteous﴾ [Yusuf]. And He said: ﴿And he enjoined it to his sons Abraham and Jacob﴾ and he said: Indeed, Allah has chosen for you the religion, so do not die except while you are Muslims﴾ [Al-Baqarah]. And He said: ﴿And say to those who were given the Book and the security, if they submit, then they have been guided﴾ [Aal 'Imran: 30] And He said in another place: ﴿Say: We have believed in Allah and what was revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Isma'il, Ishaq, Ya'qub, and the tribes, and what was given to Musa and 'Isa, and what was given to the Prophets from their Lord. We do not differentiate between any of them, and we are Muslims to Him. If they believe as you have believed, then they have indeed been guided﴾ [Al-Baqarah: 136-137]. So Allah ruled that whoever submits, is indeed guided, and whoever believes is indeed guided, so He equated between them.
