The doctrine of Sufyan known by the exception, I said to Abu Abd Allah: Who narrates it from Sufyan?

He said: Everyone who reported from Sufyan in this narration used to make exceptions, he said:

And Waki' said from Sufyan: The people with us are believers in the rulings and inheritances, and we do not know.
قُلْتُI saidلِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ:to Abu Abd Allah:فَأَنْتَSo youبِأَيِّby whatشَيْءٍthingتَقُولُ؟do you say?
I said to Abu Abd Allah: So what do you say?
فَقَالَ:He said:نَحْنُWeنَذْهَبُgoإِلَىtoالاِسْتِنْثَاءِ.the exception.
He said: We go to the exception.
قُلْتُI saidلِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ:to Abu Abd Allah:فَأَمَّاAs forإِذَاifقَالَ:he said:أَنَاI amمُسْلِمٌMuslimفَلاthen notيَسْتَثْنِي؟make an exception?
I said to Abu Abd Allah: As for if he said: I am a Muslim, then should he not make an exception?
فَقَالَ:He said:نَعَمYesلَاnotيَسْتَثْنِيmake an exception.
He said: Yes, he should not make an exception.
قُلْتُI saidلِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ:to Abu Abd Allah:أَقُولُ:I say:هَذَاthisمُسْلِمٌ،is a Muslim,وَقَدْand indeedقَالَsaidالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ:the Prophet ﷺ:المُسْلِمُThe Muslimمَنْfromسَلِمَwho is safeالمُسْلِمُونَthe Muslimsمِنْfromلِسَانِهِhis tongueوَيَدِهِand his hand,,وَأَنَاand Iأَعْلَمُknowأَنَّهُthat heلَاnotيُسَلِّمُsafeguardالنَّاسَthe peopleمِنْهُ،from him,
I said to Abu Abd Allah: I say: This is a Muslim, and the Prophet ﷺ said: The Muslim is the one from whom the Muslims are safe from his tongue and hand, and I know that people are not safe from him,
فَذَكَرَhe mentionedحَدِيثَthe hadithمَعْمَرَof Ma'marعَنْfromالزُّهْرِيِّ،Al-Zuhri,فَنَرَىand we seeأَنَّthatالإِسْلَامَIslamالكَلِمَةَ،is the word,وَالإِيمَانَand faith isالْعَمَلَ،the action,
He mentioned the hadith of Ma'mar from Al-Zuhri, and we see that Islam is the word, and faith is the action.
قَالَAbu Abd Allah said:حَدَّثَنَاHe narrated to usعَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِAbdur RazzaqعَنْfromمَعْمَرَMa'marعَنْfromالزُّهْرِيِّ.Al-Zuhri.
Abu Abd Allah said: He narrated to us Abdur Razzaq from Ma'mar from Al-Zuhri.
قِيلَIt was saidلِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ:to Abu Abd Allah:فَنَقُولُ:Should we say:الإِيمَانُfaithيَزِيدُincreasesوَيَنْقُصُ؟and decreases?
It was said to Abu Abd Allah: Should we say: Does faith increase and decrease?
فَقَالَ:He said:حَدِيثُThe hadithالنَّبِيِّ ﷺof the Prophet ﷺيَدُلُّindicatesعَلَىthatذَلِكَ،that,فَذَكَرَhe mentionedقَوْلَهُ:his saying:«أَخْرِجُوا‘Take outمِنَfromالنَّارِthe fireمَنْwhoeverكَانَwasفِيinقَلْبِهِhis heartمِثْقَالٌthe weightكَذَا،of such,أَخْرِجُواtake outمَنْfromكَانَwhoeverفِيinقَلْبِهِhis heartمِثْقَالٌthe weightكَذَا»of such.’
He said: The hadith of the Prophet ﷺ indicates that, and he mentioned his saying: ‘Take out from the fire whoever was in his heart the weight of such, take out whoever was in his heart the weight of such.’
فَهُوَThus itيَدُلُّindicatesعَلَىthatذَلِكَ،that,وَذَكَرَand he mentionedعِندَatأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِAbu Abd AllahعِيسَىIsaالأَحْمَرَ،the red,وَقَوْلَهُand his sayingفِيinالإِرْجَاءِthe procrastinationفَقَالَ:he said:نَعَمYesوَذَٰلِكَand that isخَبَثٌmaliciousالقَوْلُ،saying,
Thus it indicates that, and he mentioned at Abu Abd Allah the red Isa, and his saying in procrastination, he said: Yes, and that is a malicious saying.
وَقَالَAnd Abu Abd Allah said:حَدَّثَنَاHe informed usمُؤَمَّلٌ،Mu’ammal,حَدَّثَنَاhe told usحَمَّادٌHammadبْنَbinزَيْدٍZaydسَمِعْتُI heardهُشَامًاHishamيَقُولُ:saying:كَانَIt wasالْحَسَنُHassanوَمُحَمَّدٌand Muhammadيَقُولَانِ:saying:مُسْلِمٌ،Muslim,وَيَهَابَانِand they reveredمُؤْمِنًا.believer.
And Abu Abd Allah said: He informed us Mu’ammal, he told us Hammad bin Zayd, I heard Hisham saying: Hassan and Muhammad were saying: Muslim, and they revered (or feared) a believer.
قُلْتُI saidلِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ:to Abu Abd Allah:رَوَاهُWas it narratedغَيْرَother thanسُوَيْدٍ؟Suwid?

He said: I did not know about that, and I heard Abu Abd Allah saying: Faith is a saying and an action.
قُلْتُI saidلِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ:to Abu Abd Allah:فَالْحَدِيثُAs for the hadithالَّذِيthatيُروَىis narrated«أَعْتِقْهَا‘Free herفَإِنَّهَاfor sheمُؤْمِنَةٌ،»is a believer,’قَالَhe said:لَيْسَNotكُلَّeveryoneأَحَدٍsaysيَقُولُ:saying:إِنَّهَاthat sheمُؤْمِنَةٌ،is a believer,يَقُولُونَ:they say:أَعْتِقْهَا،‘Free her,قَالَhe said:وَمَالِكٌand Malikسَمِعَهَاheard itمِنْfromهَذَاthisالشَّيْخِsheikhهِلَالَHilalبْنِbinعَلِيٍّAliلَاnoيَقُولُ:says:«فَإِنَّهَا‘For sheمُؤْمِنَةٌ،»is a believer.’
I said to Abu Abd Allah: As for the hadith that is narrated ‘Free her for she is a believer,’ he said: Not everyone says that she is a believer, they say: ‘Free her.’ He said: And Malik heard it from this sheikh Hilal bin Ali; he does not say: ‘For she is a believer.'

I said: Indeed, it was narrated by Yahya ibn Abu Kathir from Hilal bin Ali, and he is the son of Abu Maimuna with the addition ‘For she is a believer.’ It is reported by Muslim, Ahmad, and others.
