وَأَمَّاAs forالْخَوَارِجُthe Khawarijوَالْمُعْتَزِلَةُ،and the Mu'tazilites,فَيَخْرُجُونَthey are excludedمِنْfromاسْمِthe nameالْإِيمَانِof faithوَالْإِسْلَامِ،and Islam,فَإِنَّforالْإِيمَانَfaithوَالْإِسْلَامَand Islamعِندَهُمْto themوَاحِدٌ،is one,فَإِذَاso, ifخَرَجُواthey leaveعِندَهُمْaccording to themمِنَfromالْإِيمَانِ،faith,خَرَجُواthey leftمِنَfromالْإِسْلَامِIslam.
As for the Khawarij and the Mu'tazilites, they are excluded from the name of faith and Islam, for faith and Islam to them are one. Therefore, if they leave faith according to them, they leave Islam.
لَكِنَّButالْخَوَارِجُthe Khawarijتَقُولُsayهُمْthey areكُفَّارٌdisbelieversوَالْمُعْتَزِلَةُand the Mu'tazilitesتَقُولُsayلَاnotمُسْلِمُونَMuslimsوَلَاnorكُفَّارٌ،disbelievers,يَنْزِلُونَهُمْthey place themمَنْزِلَةًin a positionبَيْنَbetweenالْمَنْزِلَتَيْنِ،the two houses.
But the Khawarij say they are disbelievers, and the Mu'tazilites say: they are neither Muslims nor disbelievers; they place them in a position between the two houses.
وَالْدَّلِيلُAnd the evidenceعَلَىonأَنَّthatالْإِسْلَامَIslamالْمَذْكُورَmentionedفِيinالْآيَةِthe verseهُوَisإِسْلَامٌan Islamيُثَابُونَfor which they are rewardedعَلَيْهِupon itوَأَنَّهُمْand that theyلَيْسُواare notمُنَافِقِينَhypocrites.
And the evidence that the Islam mentioned in the verse is an Islam for which they are rewarded upon it and that they are not hypocrites.
أَنَّهُthatقَالَ:he said:﴿قَالَتِ‘The Bedouins said,الْأَعْرَابُthe Bedouins,وَآمَنَّاand we have believed.قُلSay,تُؤْمِنُونَ‘Do you believe?وَلَكِنbutقُولُواsay,أَسْلَمْنَا‘We have submitted.وَلَمَّاAnd whenيَدْخُلِentersالْإِيمَانُfaithفِيinقُلُوبِكُمْ)your hearts.’
that he said: ‘The Bedouins said, and we have believed. Say, ‘Do you believe? But say, we have submitted, and when faith enters your hearts.
ثُمَّThenقَالَ:he said:﴿وَإِن‘And ifتُطِيعُواyou obeyاللَّهَAllahوَرَسُولَهُand His Messenger,لَاnothingيُلتَكُمwill be taken from youمِّنْfromأَعْمَالِكُمْyour works.شَيْئًاanything.
Then he said: ‘And if you obey Allah and His Messenger, nothing will be taken from you from your works.
فَدَلَّThis indicatesعَلَىthatأَنَّهُمْtheyإِذَاifأَطَاعُواthey obeyedاللَّهَAllahوَرَسُولَهُand His Messengerمَعَwith thisالْإِسْلَامِ،Islam,آجَرَهُمُAllah rewards themعَلَىforالطَّاعَةِtheir obedienceوَالْمُنَافِقُand the hypocriteعَمَلُهُhis workحَابِطٌis nullifiedفِيinالْآخِرَةِ.the Hereafter.
This indicates that if they obey Allah and His Messenger with this Islam, Allah rewards them for their obedience, while the hypocrite’s work is nullified in the Hereafter.
وَأَيْضًاAnd alsoفَإِنَّهُheوَصَفَهُمْdescribed themبِخِلَافِdifferently fromصِفَاتِthe traitsالْمُنَافِقِينَ.of the hypocrites.
And also, he described them differently from the traits of the hypocrites.
فَإِنَّFor indeedالْمُنَافِقِينَthe hypocritesوُصِفُواare describedبِكُفْرٍby disbeliefفِيinقُلُوبِهِمَ،their hearts,وَأَنَّهُمْand that theyيُبْطِنُونَconcealخِلَافَcontrary toمَاwhatيُظْهِرُونَthey show.كَمَاAsقَالَsaidتَعَالَى:the Most High:﴿وَمِنَ‘And amongالنَّاسِthe peopleمَنthere are those whoيَقُولُsayوَآمَنَّاand we believeبِاللَّهِin Allahوَبِالْيَوْمِand the Dayالْآخِرِ،of the Last.وَمَاAnd they are notهُمْthey areبِمُؤْمِنِينَ.believers.
For indeed, the hypocrites are described by disbelief in their hearts, and that they conceal contrary to what they show. As said the Most High: ‘And among the people are those who say and we believe in Allah and the Day of the Last. And they are not believers.
يُخْدِعُونَThey deceiveاللَّهَAllahوَالَّذِينَand those whoآمَنُواhave believed.وَمَاAnd they do notيَخْدَعُونَdeceiveإِلَّاexceptأَنفُسَهُمْthemselves.وَمَاAnd they do notيَشْعُرُونَfeel.فِيInقُلُوبِهِمَtheir heartsمَّرَضٌis disease.فَزَادَهُمُSo Allah increases themاللَّهُAllahمَرَضًاwith disease.
They deceive Allah and those who have believed, and they do not deceive except themselves, and they do not feel. In their hearts is disease, so Allah increases them with disease.
﴾الْبَقَرَةُ][Al-Baqarah]وَقَالَ:And He said:﴿إِذَا‘Whenجَاءَكَthey come to youالْمُنَافِقُونَthe hypocrites,قَالُواthey say,نَشْهَدُ‘We testifyإِنَّكَthat you areلَرَسُولُtruly the Messengerاللَّهِ،of Allah.وَاللَّهُAnd Allahيَعْلَمُknowsإِنَّكَthat you areلَرَسُولَهُHis Messenger.وَاللَّهُAnd Allahيَشْهَدُtestifiesإِنَّthat indeedالْمُنَافِقِينَthe hypocritesلَكَذِبُونَare liars.
And He said: ‘When the hypocrites come to you, they say, ‘We testify that you are truly the Messenger of Allah. And Allah knows that you are His Messenger. And Allah testifies that indeed the hypocrites are liars.
﴾[الْمُنَافِقُونَ[Al-Munafiqun.فَالْمُنَافِقُونَThus the hypocritesيُوَصَفُونَare describedفِيinالْقُرْآنِthe Quranبِالْكَذِبِ،as liars,وَأَنَّهُمْand that theyيَقُولُونَsayبِأَفْوَاهِهِمwith their mouthsمَاwhatلَيْسَis notفِيinقُلُوبِهِمَ،their hearts,وَبِأَنَّand that inفِيtheir heartsقُلُوبِهِمَisمِنَofالْكُفْرِdisbeliefمَاwhatيُعَاقَبُونَthey are punishedعَلَيْهِ،for.
Thus the hypocrites are described in the Quran as liars, and that they say with their mouths what is not in their hearts, and that in their hearts is of disbelief what they are punished for.
وَهَؤُلَاءِAnd theseلَمْdid notيُوَصَفُوهُمْdescribe themبِشَيْءٍwith anythingمِنْofذَٰلِكَ،that,لَكِنَّbutلَمَّاwhenادَّعَوْاthey claimedالْإِيمَانَfaithقَالَhe saidلِلرَّسُولِ:to the Messenger:قُل‘Sayلَمْthat you did notتُؤْمِنُواbelieve,وَلَكِنbutقُولُواsay,أَسْلَمْنَاwe have submitted.وَلَمَّاAnd whenيَدْخُلِfaith entersالإِيمَانُthe faithفِيinقُلُوبِكُمْ،your hearts,وَإِنْand ifتُطِيعُواyou obeyاللَّهَAllahوَرَسُولَهُand His Messengerلَاnothingيُلتَكُمwill be taken from youمِّنْfromأَعْمَالِكُمْyour deeds.شَيْئًا.anything.
And these did not describe them with anything, but when they claimed faith, he said to the Messenger: ‘Say you did not believe, but say we have submitted, and when faith enters your hearts, and if you obey Allah and His Messenger, nothing will be taken from you from your deeds.
وَنَفْيُAnd denialالْإِيمَانِof faithالْمُطْلَقِ،absolutely,لَاdoes notيَسْتَلْزِمُimplyأَنْ يَكُونُواthat they areمُنَافِقِينَ،hypocrites,كَمَاasفِيinقَوْلِهِ:his saying:يَسْتَلُونَكَThey ask youعَنْaboutالْأَنْفَالِthe spoils of war.قُلِSay,الْأَنْفَالُ‘The spoilsلِلَّهِare for Allahوَالرَّسُولِ،and the Messenger.فَاتَّقُواSo fearاللَّهَAllahوَأَصْلِحُواand amendذَاتَthe tiesبَيْنِكُمْ،among yourselves.وَأَطِيعُواAnd obeyاللَّهَAllahوَرَسُولَهُand His Messengerإِنifكُنتُمْyou areمُّؤْمِنِينَ﴾believers.
And the denial of faith absolutely does not imply that they are hypocrites, as in his saying: ‘They ask you about the spoils of war. Say, ‘The spoils are for Allah and the Messenger. So fear Allah and amend the ties among yourselves. And obey Allah and His Messenger if you are believers.
﴾الْأَنْفَالِ][Al-Anfal]ثُمَّThenقَالَ:he said:(إِنَّمَا‘Indeed, the believersالْمُؤْمِنُونَare those whoالَّذِينَwhenإِذَاthey hearذُكِرَmentionedاللَّهُAllah,وَجِلَتْtheir hearts tremble,قُلُوبُهُمْtheir heartsوَإِذَاAnd whenتُلِيَتْit is recitedعَلَيْهِمْto themآيَاتُهُand its versesزَادَتْهُمْincreased themإِيمَانًاin faith,وَعَلَىand uponرَبِّهِمْtheir Lordيَتَوَكَّلُونَthey rely.الَّذِينَThose whoيُقِيمُونَestablishالصَّلَاةَprayerوَمِمَّاand from whatرَزَقْتَهُمْYou have provided them,يُنفِقُونَthey spend.أَوَلَـٰئِكَSuch areهُمُthey,الْمُؤْمِنُونَthe true believers.حَقًّاIndeed.
Then he said: ‘Indeed, the believers are those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts tremble. And when its verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith, and upon their Lord they rely. Those who establish prayer and from what You have provided them, they spend. Such are they, the true believers indeed.
﴾الْأَنْفَالِ][Al-Anfal],وَمَعْلُومٌAnd it is knownأَنَّهُthatلَيْسَnotمِنْofأولِئَكَthose whoيَكُونُواareكَذَٰلِكَ،like that,مُنَافِقًاa hypocrite.مِنْfrom
And it is known that those who are not like that will be a hypocrite.
