It includes those who showed faith, even if he was a hypocrite.
الْبَاطِنُthe hiddenيَدْخُلُentersفِيinالظَّاهِرِ،the apparent,فَكَيْفَso howلَاnotيَدْخُلُentersفِيinمَنْwhoلَمْdid notيَكُنْbeمُنَافِقًا،a hypocrite,وَإِنْand ifلَمْdid notيَكُنْbeمِنْofالْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersحَقًّا؟!truly?!
The hidden enters in the apparent, so how does it not enter those who are not hypocrites, even if they are not truly among the believers?!
وَحَقِيقَتُهُAnd its realityأَنَّthatمَنwhoلَمْdid notيَكُنْbeمِنْofالْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersحَقًّا،truly,يُقَالُit is saidفِيهِabout himإِنَّهُthat heمُسْلِمٌ،is a Muslim,وَمَعَهُand with himإِيمَانٌfaithيَمْنَعُهُthat prohibits himالْخُلْدَeternityفِيinالنَّارِ،the Fire,وَ هَذَاand thisمُتَّفَقٌis agreedعَلَيْهِuponبَيْنَbyأَهْلِthe people ofالسُّنَّةِ،the Sunnah,
And its reality is that whoever is not truly among the believers is said to be a Muslim, and with him is a faith that prohibits him from eternity in the Fire, and this is agreed upon among the people of Sunnah.
لَكِنْButهَلْis itيُطْلَقُgivenعَلَيْهِto himاسْمُthe nameالإِيمَانِ؟of faith?
But is the name of faith given to him?
هَذَاThisهُوَis the oneالَّذِيthatتَنَازَعُواthey disputedفِيهِ،about,فَقِيلَso it was saidيُقَالُit is saidمُسْلِمٌMuslimوَلَاand notيُقَالُit is saidمُؤْمِنٌbeliever.وَقِيلَ:And it was said:بَلْRatherيُقَالُit is saidمُؤْمِنٌ.believer.
This is what they disputed about, so it was said that he is called a Muslim and not a believer; and it was said: rather it is said: believer.
وَالْتَّحْقِيقُAnd the verificationأَنَّthatيُقَالُit is saidإِنَّهُthat heمُؤْمِنٌis a believerنَاقِصٌdeficientالإِيمَانِin faithمُؤْمِنٌbelieverبِإِيمَانِهِ،by his faith,فَاسِقٌis sinfulبِكَبِيرَتِهِ،by his major sin,وَلَاand notيُعْطَىis givenاسْمُthe nameالإِيمَانِof faithالْمُطْلَقِ،absolute,فَإِنَّfor indeedالْكِتَابَthe bookوَ السُّنَّةَand the Sunnahنَفَيَاhave negatedعَنْهُfrom himالِاسْمَthe nameالْمُطْلَقَ،absolute,وَاسْمُand the nameالإِيمَانِof faithيَتَنَاوَلُهُincludes himفِي مَاin whatأَمَرَcommandedبِهِby itاللَّهُAllahوَرَسُولُهُand His Messengerلِأَنَّbecauseذَلِكَthatإِيجَابٌis a requirementعَلَيْهِ،upon him,وَتَحْرِيمٌand prohibitionعَلَيْهِ،upon him,وَهُوَand it isلاَزِمٌinevitableلَهُfor himكَمَاasيَلْزَمُهُit obliges himغَيْرُهُ،others,
And the verification is that it is said that he is a believer, deficient in faith, a believer by his faith, sinful by his major sin, and he is not given the name of absolute faith, for indeed the Book and the Sunnah have negated the absolute name from him, and the name of faith includes him in what Allah and His Messenger commanded, because that is a requirement upon him and a prohibition upon him, and it is inevitable for him as it obliges others.
وَإِنَّمَاAnd onlyالْكَلَامُthe discussionفِيaboutاسْمِthe nameالْمَدْحِof commendationالْمُطْلَقِ،absolute,وَعَلَىand uponهَذَاthisفَالْخِطَابُthe addressبِالْإِيمَانِby faithيَدْخُلُincludesفِيهِin itثَلاَثٌthreeطَوَائِفُgroupsيَدْخُلُincludingفِيهِin itالْمُؤْمِنُthe believerحَقًّا،truly,وَيَدْخُلُand includesفِيهِin itالْمُنَافِقُthe hypocriteفِيinأَحْكَامِهِits rulingsالظَّاهِرَةِ،apparent,وَإِنْ كَانُواeven if they wereفِيinالْآخِرَةِthe Hereafterفِيinالدَّرَكَthe lowestالْأَسْفَلِof the bottomمِنْofالنَّارِ،the Fire,وَهُوَand it isفِيinالْبَاطِنِthe hiddenيُنَفِّيdeniesعَنْهُfrom himالإِسْلاَمَIslamوَالْإِيمَانَ،and faith,وَفِيand inالظَّاهِرِthe apparentيُثَبِّتُupholdsلَهُfor himالإِسْلاَمَIslamوَالْإِيمَانَand faith
And only the discussion about the name of absolute commendation, and upon this the address by faith includes three groups: it includes the true believer, and it includes the hypocrite in its apparent rulings, even if they were in the Hereafter in the lowest depths of the Fire, and it is in the hidden that denies from him Islam and faith, and in the apparent it upholds for him Islam and faith.
وَيَدْخُلُand includesفِيهِin itالَّذِينَthose whoأَسْلَمُواhave submittedوَلَمْand did notتَدْخُلْenterحَقيقةُthe realityالإِيمَانِof faithفِيinقُلُوبِهِمْ،their hearts,لَكِنَّbutمَعَهُمْwith themجُزْءٌa partمِنَofالإِيمَانِfaithوَإِسْلاَمٍand Islamيُثَابُونَthey are rewardedعَلَيْهِ،for it,ثُمَّthenقَدْthey mayيَكُونُونَbeمُفَرِّطِينَnegligentفِي مَاin whatفُرِضَis obligatedعَلَيْهِمْupon themوَلَيْسَand notمَعَهُمْwith themمِنْofالْكَبَائِرِthe major sinsمَاwhatيُعَاقَبُونَthey are punishedعَلَيْهِfor itكَأَهْلِlike the people ofالْكَبَائِرِ،the major sins,
And it includes those who have submitted and did not have the reality of faith enter their hearts, but with them is a part of faith and Islam for which they are rewarded, then they may be negligent in what is obligated upon them, and they do not have with them of the major sins that would punish them like the people of major sins.

But they are punished for leaving the obligatory acts and these are like the Bedouins mentioned in the verse and others for they said, 'We have believed' without any standing from them with what they were commanded internally and externally, therefore the reality of faith did not truly enter their hearts and they did not strive in the path of Allah, and certainly the Prophet called them to struggle, and they may be among the people of major sins exposed to the warning, like those who pray and give alms and strive and commit major sins, and these do not exit from Islam, rather they are Muslims, but among them is a verbal dispute: is it said that they are believers? As we will mention if Allah wills.
