Then if a Muslim is only considered a Muslim by doing everything you called Islam, it follows that the corrupt people are not Muslims despite being believers. So you made believers who are perfect in faith in your view not Muslims, and this is worse than the saying of the Karamites. Moreover, it follows that the corrupt from the people of the qibla are not Muslims, and this is worse than the saying of the Khawarij and the Mu'tazila and others. Rather, it should be that whoever leaves the voluntary acts is not a Muslim, if you consider that all obedience is a duty or a supererogatory act in Islam.

ثُمَّThenهَذَاthisخِلَافٌis contrary toمَاwhatاحْتَجَجْتُمْyou have used as evidenceبِهِwithمِنْfromقَوْلِهِhis sayingلِلْأَعْرَابِto the Bedouins::لَمْdid notتُؤْمِنُواbelieveوَلَكِنَbutقُولُواsayأَسْلَمْنَا)we have submitted ("Islamed" )[الْحُجُرَاتِ:[Al-Hujurat:١٤]14].

Then this is contrary to what you have used as evidence from His saying to the Bedouins: 'You did not believe, but say we have submitted (Islamed).' [Hujurat: 14]

فَأَثْبَتَThus He establishedلَهُمْfor themالْإِسْلَامَIslamدُونَwithoutالْإِيمَانِfaith,,وَأَيْضًاand alsoفَإِخْرَاجَكُمْyour exclusionالْفُسَّاقَof the corrupt peopleمِنْfromاسْمِthe name ofالْإِسْلَامِIslamإِنْifأَخْرَجْتُمُوهُمْyou exclude them,,أَعْظَمُis greaterشَنَاعَةٌthe disgraceمِنْthanإِخْرَاجِهِمtheir exclusionمِنْfromاسْمِthe name ofالْإِيمَانِfaith,,فَوَقَعْتُمْso you fellفِيintoأَعْظَمَthe greatestمَاwhatعَبِتُّمُوهُyou blamedعَلَىonالْمُعْتَزِلَةِthe Mu'tazila,,فَإِنَّfor theنُصُوصَtextual proofsالْكِتَابِof the Bookوَالسُّنَّةِand the Sunnahتُنَفِيdenyعَنْهُمْfrom themاسْمَthe name ofالْإِيمَانِfaithأَعْظَمُmore thanمِمَّاthat whichتُنَفِيdeniesاسْمَthe name ofالْإِسْلَامِIslamوَاسْمَand the name ofالْإِيمَانِfaithفِيinالْكِتَابِthe Bookوَالسُّنَّةِand the Sunnahأَعْظَمُis greater.

Thus He established for them Islam without faith. And also, your exclusion of the corrupt people from the name of Islam, if you excluded them, is a greater disgrace than their exclusion from the name of faith. So you fell into the greatest thing that you blamed the Mu'tazila for, for the textual proofs of the Book and the Sunnah deny them the name of faith more than they deny the name of Islam, and the name of faith in the Book and Sunnah is greater.

وَإِنْAnd ifقُلْتُمْyou said::(بَلْ(ratherكُلَّallمَنْwhoeverفَعَلَdoesطَاعَةًan act of obedienceسُمِّيَis calledمُسْلِمًاa Muslim))لَزِمَit followsأَن يَكُونَthat it isمِنْfromفَعَلَwho actedمِنْamongالطَّاعَاتِthe acts of obedienceوَلَمْand did notيَتَكَلَّمْspeakبِالشَّهَادَتَيْنِthe two testimoniesمُسْلِمًاa Muslim,,وَمَنand whoeverصَدَّقَbelievedبِقَلْبِهِin his heartوَلَمْand did notيَتَكَلَّمْspeakبِلِسَانِهِwith his tongueأَنْto beيَكُونَa Muslimعِندَكُمْin your view,,لَأَنَّbecauseالإِيمَانَthe faithعِندَكُمْin your viewإِسْلَامٌis Islam,,فَمَنso whoeverأَتَىbroughtبِهit,,فَقَدْthen hasأَتَىbroughtبِالْإِسْلَامِwith Islamوَيَكُونُand isمُسْلِمًاa Muslimعِندَكُمْin your viewمِنْwhoتَكَلَّمَspokeبِالشَّهَادَتَيْنِthe two testimoniesوَمَاand whatأَتَىbroughtبِشَيْءٍwith anythingمِنَofالأَعْمَالِthe actions..

And if you said: 'Rather, whoever does an act of obedience is called a Muslim,' then it follows that whoever performed some acts of obedience without speaking the two testimonies is a Muslim, and whoever believed in his heart without speaking with his tongue is to be considered a Muslim in your opinion, because faith in your view is Islam. So whoever brought it, then he has brought Islam and he is a Muslim in your view, even if he spoke the two testimonies and did not bring any of the actions.

وَاحْتِجاجُكُمْAnd your argumentبِقَوْلِهِwith His saying::﴿قَالَتِ(She said)الْأَعْرَابُthe Bedouinsمَا آمَنَّاwe have not believedقُلْsayلَمْdid notتُؤْمِنُواyou believeوَلَكِنَbutقُولُواsayأَسْلَمْنَاwe have submittedقُلْتُمْyou saidنَفَىnegatedعَنْهُمْfrom themالْإِيمَانَfaithوَأَثْبَتَand establishedلَهُمْfor themالْإِسْلَامَIslamفَيُقَالُit can be saidهَذِهِthisالْآيَةُverseحُجَّةٌis a proofعَلَيْكُمْagainst youلِأَنَّهُbecauseلَمَّاwhenأَثْبَتَHe establishedلَهُمْfor themالْإِسْلَامَIslamمَعَwithانْتِفَاءِthe absence ofالْإِيمَانِfaith,,دَلَّit indicatesذَٰلِكَthatعَلَىٰthatالإِيمَانَfaithلَيْسَis notبِجُزْءِa partمِنَofالْإِسْلَامِIslam,,إِذْfor ifلَوْifكَانَit wereبَعْضُهُpart of itلَمَاthen they would notكَانُواbeمُسْلِمِينَMuslimsإِنifلَمْdid notيَأْتُواbring itبِهِit,,وَإِنْand ifقُلْتُمْyou said:,(أَرَدْنَا(we intendedبِقَوْلِنَاby our sayingأَثْبَتَto establishلَهُمْfor themالْإِسْلَامَIslamأَيwhich meansإِسْلَامًاa submission,,مَاwhateverفَإِنَّforكُلٌّeveryطَاعَةٍact of obedienceمِنَfromالْإِسْلَامِIslamإِسْلَامٌis a submissionعِندَنَاin our view))لَزِمَكُمْit would follow for youمَاwhateverتَقَدَّمَhas precededمِنْofأَنْto beيَكُونَto beصَوْمٌfastingيَوْمٍa dayإِسْلَامًاis a submission,,وَصَدَقَةٌand charityدِرْهَمٌa dirhamإِسْلَامًاis a submission,,وَأَمْثَالٌand similarذَٰلِكَto that..

And your argument with His saying: '(The Bedouins said) we have not believed. Say: you did not believe, but say we have submitted,' you said: 'He negated from them faith and established for them Islam.' It can be said this verse is a proof against you, because when He established for them Islam with the absence of faith, that indicates that faith is not a part of Islam. If it were part of it, they would not be considered Muslims if they did not bring it. And if you said: 'We intended, by our saying, to establish for them Islam, which means a submission, for every act of obedience from Islam is a submission in our view,' then it would follow for you whatever has been preceded, that fasting a day is a submission, and a dirham of charity is a submission, and similar to that.
