It was as you mentioned.
فَالتَّصْدِيقُfor the affirmationنَوْعٌis a typeمِنْofأَنْوَاعِkindsالْكَلَامِof speech
For affirmation is a type of speech.

But in the expression denoting the meaning, it is more in use than in the meaning abstract from the expression.

But there is never an application of the name speech or its types - like news or affirmation, denial, command, and prohibition - on mere language.

The meaning of without something that is associated with it, be it expression, sign, or others. And it is only used as conditioned speech.
وَإِذَاAnd whenكَانَwasاللَّهُAllahإِنَّمَاonlyأَنزَلَrevealedالْقُرْآنَthe Quranبِلُغَةٍin the languageالْعَرَبِof the Arabsفَهِيَit (the language)لَاdoes notتَعْرِفُknowالتَّصْدِيقَaffirmationوَالتَّكْذِيبَand denial.وَغَيْرَهُمَاAnd othersمِنَofالأَقْوَالِwordsإِلَّاexceptمَاwhatكَانَwasمَعْنًىmeaningوَلَفْظًاand wording.أوorلَفْظًاexpressionيَدُلُّindicatingعَلَىonمَعْنًىmeaning.
And when Allah only revealed the Quran in the language of the Arabs, it does not know affirmation, denial, and others from words except what was meaning and wording, or an expression indicating meaning.
وَلِهَذَاAnd for this reasonلَمْdid notيَجْعَلْmakeاللَّهُAllahأَحَدًاanyoneمُصَدِّقًاa believerلِلرُّسُلِof the messengersمُجَرَّدَmerelyالعِلْمِknowledgeوَالتَّصْدِيقِand affirmationالَّذِيwhichفِيinقُلُوبِهِمtheir hearts.حَتَّىuntilيُصَدِّقُوهُمْthey may affirm themبِأَلْسِنَتِهِمwith their tongues.وَلَاAnd do notيُوجَدُthere existفِيinكَلَامِthe speechالْعَرَبِof the Arabsأَنْthatيُقَالَit is saidفُلَانٌso and soصَدَقَhas affirmedفُلَانًاso and soأوorكَذَّبَهُhas denied him.إِذَاIfكَانَhe wasيَعْلَمُawareبِقَلْبِهِin his heartأَنَّهُthat heصَادِقٌis truthfulأوorكَاذِبٌis a liarوَلَمْand he did notيَتَكَلَّمْspeakبِذَلِكَof it.
And for this reason, Allah did not make anyone a believer of the messengers merely through knowledge and belief in their hearts until they affirm them with their tongues, and it is not found in the speech of the Arabs that it is said: so and so has affirmed so and so or has denied him, if he was aware in his heart that he is truthful or a liar and did not speak of it.
كَمَاAsلَاnotيُقَالُis saidأَمْرُهُto command himأوorنَهَاهُforbid him.إِذَاIfقَامَhe standsبِقَلْبِهِin his heartطَلَبٌrequestمُجَرَّدٌpurelyعَمَّfrom whatيَقْتَرِنُis associatedبِهِwith itمِنْofلَفْظٍwordsأوorإِشَارَةٍa signأوorنَحْوِهُمَاthe like.
As it is not said, ‘Command him’ or ‘forbid him’ when he stands in his heart for a purely request from something associated with it of words or signs or the like.
وَلَمَّاAnd whenقَالَthe Prophet saidالنَّبِيُّthe Prophetإِنَّthatصَلَاتَنَاour prayerهَذِهِthisلَاdoes notيَصْلَحُ.be valid.
And when the Prophet said: Our prayer does not valid.
وَقَالَAnd he said.إِنَّIndeedاللَّهُAllahيُحْدِثُcreatesمِنْfromأَمْرِهِwhat He wills.مَاwhatشَاءَHe likes.وَإِنَّAnd indeedمِمَّاpart of whatأُحْدِثَwas createdأَنْthatلَاnotيَتَكَلَّمُواspeakفِيinالصَّلَاةِprayer.
And He said: Indeed Allah creates from His command what He wills, and indeed part of what was created is that you do not speak in prayer.
اتَّفَقَThe scholars agreedالعُلَمَاءُthe scholarsعَلَىthatأَنَّهُit isإِذَاifتَكَلَّمَhe speaksفِيinالصَّلَاةِthe prayerعَامِدًاintentionallyلِغَيْرِfor noمَصْلَحَتِهَاbenefit from itبَطَلَتْhis prayer is void.
The scholars agreed that if he speaks in prayer intentionally for no benefit from it, then his prayer is void.
وَاتَّفَقُواAnd they all agreedكُلُّهُمْall of themعَلَىthatمَاwhatيَقُومُremainsبِالْقَلْبِin the heartمِنْofتَصْدِيقٍbelievingبِأُمُورٍin mattersدُنْيَوِيَّةٍworldlyوَطَلَبٍand requestلَاdoes notيُبْطِلُinvalidateالصَّلَاةَthe prayer.
And they all agreed that what remains in the heart of belief in worldly matters and request does not invalidate the prayer.
وَإِنَّمَاBut onlyيُبْطِلُهَاit is invalidated byالتَّكَلُّمِspeakingبِذَلِكَof it.فَاعْلَمْSo knowاتِّفَاقَthe consensusالْمُسْلِمِينَof Muslimsعَلَىthatهَذَاthisلَيْسَis notبِكَلَامٍspeech.
But only it is invalidated by speaking of it. So know the consensus of Muslims that this is not speech.
وَأَيْضًاAnd alsoفِيinالصَّحِيحَيْنِthe two authentic booksعَنْaboutالنَّبِيِّ.the Prophet.أَنَّهُthat heقَالَsaidإِنَّIndeedاللَّهَAllahتَجَاوَزَexemptedلِأُمَّتِيfor my nationعَمَّfrom whatحَدَثَتthey have causedبِهِin themselves.أَنْthatلَاnotتَتَكَلَّمُspeakبِهِof it.أوorتَعْمَلَactبِهِupon it.
And also in the two authentic books, it is narrated from the Prophet that he said: Indeed Allah has exempted for my nation from what they have caused in themselves, unless they speak or act upon it.
فَقَدْSo indeedأَخْبَرَhe informedأَنَّthatاللَّهَAllahعَفَاhas excusedعَنْaboutالنَّفْسِthe selfإِلَّاunlessأَنْthatتَتَكَلَّمُواthey speak.فَفَرَّقَSo he distinguishedبَيْنَbetweenحَدِيثِthe internal conversationالنَّفْسِof the selfوَبَيْنَand betweenالْكَلَامِspeech.
So indeed he informed that Allah has excused the self unless they speak. So he distinguished between the internal conversation of the self and between speech.
وَأَخْبَرَAnd he informedأَنَّهُthat itلَاdoes notيُؤَاخِذُhold accountableبِهِfor it.حَتَّىuntilيَتَكَلَّمَhe speaksبِهِof it.وَالْمُرَادُAnd the meaningحَتَّىuntilيَنْطِقَhe pronouncesبِهِof it.اللِّسَانُthe tongueبِاتِّفَاقٍby consensusالعُلَمَاءِof the scholars.
And he informed that he does not hold accountable for it until he speaks of it, and the meaning is until he pronounces it with the tongue by consensus of the scholars.
فَعَلِمَand it is knownأَنَّthatهَذَاthisهُوَisالْكَلَامُthe speechفِيinاللُّغَةِthe language.لَأَنَّBecauseالشَّارِعَthe legislatorكَمَاasقَرَّرَdeterminedإِنَّمَاonlyخَاطَبَنَاhe addressed usبِلُغَةِin the languageالْعَرَبِof the Arabs.
And it is known that this is what speech is in the language, because the legislator has only addressed us in the language of the Arabs.
