فَهُوَHe isعَلَىonنَوْرٍlightمِنْfromرَبِّهِhis Lord
He is on a light from his Lord.
إِذَاIfكَانَتْwasالْمَعْرِفَةُthe knowledgeبِتَعريفٍby definingاللَّهِAllahعَزَّthe Exalted
If the knowledge was by defining Allah the Exalted,
وَقَعَتْit fallsمَوْقِعَin the positionالْحَقِيقَةِof the truthوَلَكِنْbutنَحْنُweلَاdo notنَعْبُدُهُworship Himحَقًّاas is properعِبَادَتَهُHis worship
it falls in the position of the truth, but we do not worship Him as is proper in His worship.
لِأَنَّBecauseالْواحِدَoneمِنَّاof usوَإِنْand ifجَمَعَتْgathersعِبَادَاتٍacts of worshipأَهْلِof the peopleالسَّمَاوَاتِof the heavensوَالأَرْضِand the earthوَقُوبِلَتْand confrontedتِلْكَthatالْعِبَادَاتِworshipsكُلَّهَاallبِنَظْرَةٍwith a glanceواحِدَةٍoneلَاnotتُزَنْتَهَاweighs them
Because one of us, and if he gathers the acts of worship of the people of the heavens and the earth, and those worships are confronted with one glance, they do not weigh them.
فَإِنْThen ifقِيلَit is saidإِنَّthatالْعِبَادَاتُthe acts of worshipبِتَوْفِيقِهِby His successفَلَمْthen did notتَقَعْfallمَوْقِعَin the positionالْحَقِيقَةِof the truthقُلْنَاwe said
Then it is said that the acts of worship are by His success, then they do not fall in the position of the truth, we said.
لَاWe do notنَقُولُsayبِأَنَّthatالْعِبَادةُthe worshipالْخَالِصَةُpureلَاdoes notتَقَعُfallمَوْقِعَin the positionالْحَقِيقَةِof the truth
We do not say that the pure worship does not fall in the position of the truth.
وَلَيْسَتْAnd it is notهِيَitبِحَقٍّby rightاللَّهِAllahبَلْbutهِيَit isحَقٌّthe rightاللَّهِof Allah
And it is not by right Allah, but it is the right of Allah.
وَلَكِنَّButمَعْنَىthe meaningقَوْلِنَاof our saying::لَاDo notنَعْبُدُهُwe worship Himحَقًّاas is properعِبَادَتَهُHis worship..أَنَّنَاthat weضُعَفاءُare weakعَاجِزُونَand incapableوَلَاand we do notنُنْفِقُabandonعَنْfromالتَّقْصِيرِshortcomingsوَإِيقَاعِand inflictingالْخَلَلِthe deficiencyفِيinالْعِبَادةِthe worship
That we are weak and incapable, and we do not abandon the shortcomings and incurring deficiencies in worship.
وَهَذَاAnd thisالْمَعْنَىmeaningمَعْدُومٌis absentفِيinالْمَعْرِفَةِthe knowledge
And this meaning is absent in knowledge.
تَمَّتْFinishedالرِّسَالَةُthe messageبِحَمْدِby the praiseاللَّهِof Allahوَحُسْنِand the goodتَوْفِيقِهِsuccess
The message has been finished by the praise of Allah and His good success.
وَبِاللَّهِAnd by Allahالتَّوْفِيقُsuccess
And by Allah is the success.
