حَقّاًIndeedوَقَالَAnd he saidمَذْبَذِبِينَwaveringبَيْنَbetweenذَٰلِكَthatلَاneitherإِلَىtoهَـٰؤُلَـٰئِكَtheseالْآيَةُthe verseوَهُمْand they areالْمُنَافِقُونَthe hypocritesفَصَارُواand they becameعَلَىintoثَلاثَةِthreeأَصْنَافٍcategoriesوَلَمْand did notيُذْكَرُmentionالصَّنْفُthe categoryالرَّابِعُthe fourthلِأَنَّbecauseالْإِيمَانَfaithعَقْدٌa contractعَلَىaboutمَاwhatبَيَّنَاwe explainedفَالْإِسْتِثْنَاءُSo the exceptionيُبْطِلُهُinvalidates itكَسَائِرِlike otherالْعُقُودِcontractsفَإِنَّIfقِيلَit is saidرُوِيَit was narratedعَنْbyالنَّبِيِّthe Prophetعَلَيْهِupon himالسَّلاَمُpeaceأَنَّهُthat heمَرَّpassedبِمَقْبَرَةٍby a graveyardفَسَلَّمَand he greetedعَلَيْهِمْupon themوَقَالَand he saidإِنَّاIndeed weلَاحِقُونَwill followبِكُمْyouإِنْifشَاءَwillsاللَّهُGodفَاسْتَثْنَىSo he made an exceptionفِيinالْمَوْتِdeathأَفْتَرَىDo you thinkأَنْthatالْمَوْتَdeathمَشْكُوكٌis questionableفِيهِin itفَكَذَٰلِكَLikewiseنَحْنُweلَاdo notنَشُكُّdoubtفِيinإِيمَانِنَاour faithوَلَكِنbutيَجُوزُit is permissibleالاِسْتِثْنَاءُthe exceptionفِيهِin itقُلْنَاwe saidسُكُوتُكُمْyour silenceكَانَwasخَيْراًbetterلَكُمْfor youمِنْthanتَعَلُّقِكُمْyour attachmentبِهَذَاto thisالْخَبَرِnewsلِأَنَّbecauseالنَّبِيَّthe Prophetعَلَيْهِupon himالسَّلاَمُpeaceلَمْdid notيَشُكَّdoubtفِيinالْمَوْتِdeathوَإِنَّمَاbut ratherاسْتَثْنَىhe made an exceptionفِيinاللُّحُوقِfollowingوَاللُّحُوقَand the followingمَشْكُوكٌ فِيهِis questionableإِذْforالْفَرِيقُthe groupفَرِيقَانِtwo groupsفَرِيقٌone groupفِيinالْجَنَّةِparadiseوَفَرِيقٌand another groupفِيinالنَّارِthe fireفَكُلُّSo everyمَاwhatكَانَwasمَشْكُوكاًquestionableفِيهِin itيَجِبُmustالِاسْتِثْنَاءُthe exceptionعَلَيْهِon itلِقَوْلِهِfor His sayingتَعَالَىthe Exaltedوَلَاand do notتَقُولُنَّyou sayلِشَيْءٍabout somethingإِنِّيindeed Iفَاعِلٌwill doذَٰلِكَthatغَدًاtomorrowإِلَّاunlessأَنْthatيَشَاءَwillsاللَّهُGodوَكُلَّمَاand wheneverكَانَwasمُتَحَقِّقًاcertainلَاnotيَجُوزُit is permissibleالِاسْتِثْنَاءُthe exceptionفِيهِin itكَأَقُولِهِlike His sayingهَذَاthisرَجُلٌmanوَهَذِهِand thisامْرَأَةٌwomanإِنْifشَاءَwillsاللَّهُGodوَلَاand do notمِنwhoجَوَزَpermittedالِاسْتِثْنَاءَthe exceptionفِيinالْإِيمَانِfaithجَوَّزَallowedالِاسْتِثْنَاءَthe exceptionفِيinالْكُفْرِdisbeliefوَقَدْand it wasذَكَرْنَاwe mentionedأَنْthatالْإِسْتِثْنَاءَthe exceptionفِيinالْكُفْرِdisbeliefكُفْرٌis disbeliefمِثْلُهُlike itفَإِنَّifقِيلَit is saidإِنَّمَاonlyالْإِسْتِثْنَاءُthe exceptionلِلْخَاتِمَةِfor the endingلَاwe do notنَدْرِيknowأَنْthatنَمُوتَwe dieعَلَىinالْإِيمَانِfaithأَمorلَاnotقُلْنَاwe saidهَذَاthisالْإِسْتِثْنَاءُthe exceptionفِيinالثَّبَاتِsteadfastnessعَلَىonالْإِيمَانِfaithوَذَٰلِكَand that
Indeed, he said, 'Wavering between that, neither to these nor to those.' The verse, and they are the hypocrites; so they became three categories, and the fourth category was not mentioned because faith is a contract as we have explained, so the exception invalidates it, like other contracts. If it is said, it was narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) passed by a graveyard, greeted them, and said: 'Indeed we will follow you, if God wills.' So he made an exception regarding death; do you think that death is questionable? Likewise, we do not doubt in our faith, but the exception may be permissible therein. We said, your silence was better for you than your attachment to this news because the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not doubt death, rather he made an exception regarding following; and following is questionable, as the group is two groups: one group in paradise, and another group in the fire. So everything that is questionable must have an exception made for it due to His saying, 'And do not say about something, indeed I will do that tomorrow' unless God wills. And whenever it is certain, an exception is not permissible in it, like His saying, 'this is a man and this is a woman, if God wills.' And whoever allowed the exception in faith also allowed the exception in disbelief, and we have mentioned that the exception in disbelief is disbelief itself. If it is said, 'The exception is for the ending; we do not know if we will die in faith or not?' We said this exception is for steadfastness in faith.
هَذَاthisالْإِسْتِثْنَاءُthe exceptionفِيinالثَّبَاتِsteadfastnessعَلَىonالْإِيمَانِfaithوَذَٰلِكَand that
this exception is for steadfastness in faith.
