ٱبْنُsonمَهْدِيٌّMahdiوَأَبُوand AbuبَكْرٍBakrبْنِson ofعَيَّاشٍAyyashوَandوَكِيعٌWaki'وَأَبُوand AbuعَاصِمٍAsimٱلنَّبِيلِthe Nobleوَيَعْلَىٰand Ya'laبْنُson ofعُبَيْدٍUbaidوَمُحَمَّدَand Muhammadبْنِson ofيُوسُفَYusufوَبَشَرَand Basharبْنِson ofٱلْمُفَضَّلِAl-Mufaddalوَعَبْدِand AbdullahٱللَّهِAllahابْنُson ofدَاوُدَDavidوَسَلاَمَand Salamبْنِson ofأَبِيof AbuمُطِيعٍMut'iوَابْنُand son ofٱلْمُبَارَكِthe Blessedوَعَلِيٌّand Aliبْنِson ofعَاصِمٍAsimوَأَحْمَدٌand Ahmadبْنِson ofيُونُسَYunusوَأَبُوand AbuنَعِيمٍNa'imوَقَبِيصَةَand Qabisaبْنِson ofعُقْبَةَAqbaوَسُلَيْمَانَand Sulaymanٱبْنُson ofدَاوُدَDavidوَأَبُوand AbuعُبَيْدٍUbaidٱلْقَاسِمِAl-Qasimبْنِson ofسَلَامٍSalamوَيَزِيدَand Yazidبْنِson ofهَارُونَHarunوَغَيْرِهِمْand others
Ibn Mahdi, Abu Bakr ibn Ayash, Waki', Abu Asim al-Nabil, Ya'la ibn Ubaid, Muhammad ibn Yusuf, Bashar ibn al-Mufaddal, Abdullah ibn Dawud, Salam ibn Abu Muti', Ibn al-Mubarak, Ali ibn Asim, Ahmad ibn Yunus, Abu Na'im, Qabisa ibn Aqba, Sulayman ibn Dawud, Abu Ubaid al-Qasim ibn Salam, Yazid ibn Harun, and others.
وَلَوْAnd ifتَتَّبَعْنَاwe pursueذِكْرَthe mentionمَنْof those whoيَقُولُspeakبِهَذَاof thisلطَالَit would prolongالْكَلَامَthe speechبِذِكْرِهِمby mentioning them
And if we were to pursue the mention of those who speak about this, the discussion would be prolonged by mentioning them.
وَفِيْمَاAnd regarding whatذَكَرْنَاwe mentionedذَٰلِكَthatمُقْنِعٌis sufficientوَالْحَمْدُand praise be to Allah
And regarding what we mentioned, that is sufficient, and praise be to Allah.
مِنْFromرَبِّthe Lordالْعَالَمِينَof the worlds
From the Lord of the worlds.
وَقَدْAnd indeedاحْتَجَجْنَاwe have arguedلِصِحَّةِfor the correctnessقَوْلِنَاof our statementأَنَّthatالْقُرْآنَthe Quranغَيْرُis notمَخْلُوقٍcreatedمِنْfromكِتَابِthe BookٱللَّهِAllahعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe Mighty and Majesticوَمَاand whatتَضَمَّنَهُit containsمِنْofٱلْبُرْهَانِthe proofوَأَوْضَحَهُand clarified itمِنْofٱلْبَيَانِthe statementوَلَمْand we did notنَجِدْfindأَحَدًاanyoneمِمَّنْamong those whoتَحَمَّلَhave transmittedعَنْهُfrom himٱلْآثَارَthe reportsوَتَنَقَّلَتْand conveyedعَنْهُfrom himالأَخْبَارَthe newsوَيَأْتَمُّand followبِهِhimٱلْمُؤَتَّمُونَthe followersمِنْofأَهْلِthe peopleالعِلْمِof knowledgeيَقُولُونَsayبِخَلْقِabout the creationالْقُرْآنِthe Quranوَإِنَّمَاbut ratherقَالَsaidذَٰلِكَthatرَعَاعٌthe riffraffالنَّاسُthe peopleوَجُهَّالٌand the ignorantمِنْofجُهَّالِهِمْtheir ignorantلَاthere is notمَوْقِعٌa placeلَقَوْلِهِمfor their sayingوَالْحُجَّاجُand the argumentsٱلَّذِىthat which
And indeed, we have argued for the correctness of our statement that the Quran is not created, with the Book of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and what it contains of proof and clarification of the statement, and we did not find anyone among those who have transmitted from him the reports and conveyed from him the news, and who follow him the followers among the people of knowledge saying about the creation of the Quran except that the riffraff of the people and the ignorant of their ignorance claimed, for they have no place for their saying, and the arguments we have presented in this regard counters much of their saying and refutes their falsehood.
وَالْحَمْدُAnd praiseلِلَّهِbe to Allahعَلَىforقُوَّةِthe strengthالْحَقِّof the truthحَمْدًاa praiseكَثِيرًاmany
And praise be to Allah for the strength of the truth, a great praise.
بَابُChapterٱلْكَلَامِthe discourseعَلَىonمَنْwhoوَقَفَstandsفِيinٱلْقُرْآنِthe Quranوَقالَand saysلَاnotأَقُولُI sayإِنَّهُthat it isمَخْلُوقٌcreatedوَلَاand notأَقُولُI sayإِنَّهُthat it isغَيْرُnotمَخْلُوقٌcreated
Chapter on the discourse regarding those who stand in the Quran and say: 'I do not say that it is created, nor do I say that it is not created.'
(جَوَابٌ)(Answer)يُقَالُ لَهُمْIt is said to themلِمَاذَاWhyزَعَمْتُمْdid you claimذَٰلِكَthatوَقُلْتُمُوهُand say it
(Answer) It is said to them, 'Why did you claim that and say it?'
