The speech that he heard from the wolf is the speech of God, and its miracle indicates that it is the speech of God, and in this there is what they must consider, for the wolf did not speak it, and it is the speech of God, the Exalted. The fact that the speech is from the wolf is miraculous, just as the fact that it is from the tree is miraculous. If the wolf was speaking with that speech, why did you deny that the tree speaks with speech, if it was created in a tree? And the created said, "O Moses, I am God, the Exalted; glorified be God above this matter!" Then it will be said to them, 'If the speech of God, the Exalted, was created in something other than it, what assures you that every speech you hear is created in something and it is true that it is the speech of God, the Exalted?' If they said, 'The tree does not speak because the speaker cannot be but alive,' it would be said to them: 'Nor is it permissible for speech to be created in a tree, for the one who creates the speech in it cannot be except alive. If it is permitted for the speech to be created in what is not alive, why then is it not permissible for one who is not alive to speak?' And it would be said to them: 'Did you not say that he speaks from that which is not alive, for He, the Exalted, informed that the heavens and the earth said, "We come willingly."' Then it would be said to them: 'Is it not that God, the Exalted, said to Iblis: "And indeed, upon you is my curse until the day of judgment"?' Therefore, it must be said to them, 'If that is the case' whether it is true?
