وَلَاand notحَيٌّaliveمَرْتَبَةٌrankالأَصْنَامُidolsالَّتِيthatلَاnotتَنْطِقُspeakفَقَدْfor indeedوَجَبَit is necessaryأَنْthatيَكُونَit isلَمْnotيَزَلْceaseمِنْكُلِّهَاof all itدَلِيلٌevidenceآخَرُanotherوَقَدْand indeedقَالَsaidاللَّهُGodتَعَالَىthe ExaltedمُخبِرًاinformingعَنْaboutنَفْسِهِHimselfإِنَّهُindeed Heيَقُولُsaysلِمَنْto whomالْمَلَكُthe kingdomاليَوْمَtodayوَجَاءَتْand cameالرِّوَايَةُthe narrationإِنَّهُthat Heيَقُولُsaysهَذَاthisالْقَوْلُthe sayingفَلَاso notيَرُدُّrespondsعَلَيْهِto himأَحَدٌanyoneشَيْئًاanythingفَيَقُولُthen he saysلِلَّهِto Godالْواحِدِthe Oneالْقَهَّارِthe Subduer
And the rank of the idols that do not speak must be that they have always been.
فَإِذَاSo whenكَانَwasعَزَّthe ExaltedجَلَّHe be glorifiedقَالَsayingمَعَwithفَنَاءٍthe perishالأَشْيَاءِof thingsإِذْwhenلَاnotإِنْسَانٌmanوَلَاand notمَلِكٌkingوَلَاand notجَانٌّjinnوَلَاand notشَجَرٌtreesوَلَاand notمَدَرٌearthفَقَدْthen hasصَحَّit is confirmedأَنْthatكَلَامٌthe speechاللَّهِGodعَزَّthe ExaltedوَجَلَّHe be glorifiedخَارِجَoutsideعَنْofالْخَلْقِthe creationلَأَنَّهُbecause itيُوجَدُexistsوَلَاnorشَيْءٌthingمِنْfromالْخَلِيقَاتِthe creaturesمَوْجُودٌexistsدَلِيلٌevidenceآخَرُanother
So when He, the Exalted, was saying this with the perish of things, when there was no man, nor king, nor jinn, nor trees, nor earth, it is confirmed that the speech of God, the Exalted, is outside the creation because it exists when no creature exists.
وَقَدْAnd indeedقَالَsaidاللَّهُGodعَزَّthe ExaltedوَجَلَّHe be glorifiedوَكَلَّمَAnd spokeاللَّهُGodمُوسَىMosesتَكْلِيمًاa talking
And indeed God, the Exalted, spoke to Moses with a talking.
وَالتَّكْلِيمُand talkingهُوَisالمُشَافَهَةُthe direct conversationبِالْكَلَامِwith the wordsوَلَاand notيَجُوزُis permittedأَنْthatيَكُونَit isكَلَامٌthe speechالْمُتَكَلِّمِof the speakerحَالًاtemporarilyفِيinغَيْرِهِother than himمَخْلُوقًاcreatedفِيinشَيْءٍthingسِوَاهُbesides himكَمَاasلَاnotيَجُوزُis permittedذَٰلِكَthatفِيinالْعِلْمِthe knowledgeدَلِيلٌevidenceآخَرُanother
And talking is the direct conversation with the words, and it is not permissible for the speech of the speaker to be created in anything other than him, just as it is not permissible in knowledge.
(دَلِيلٌ(evidenceآخَرُ)another)وَقَالَAnd saidاللَّهُGodعَزَّthe ExaltedوَجَلَّHe be glorifiedقُلْSayهُوَHe isاللَّهُGodأَحَدٌOneاللَّهُGodالصَّمَدُthe Eternal Refugeلَمْnotيَلِدْbegetوَلَمْand notيُولَدْbornوَلَمْand notيَكُنْhas beenلَهُto himكُفُؤٌequalsأَحَدٌone
(evidence) And God, the Exalted, said: 'Say: He is God, the One. God is the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, and there is none comparable to Him.'
فَكَيْفَSo howيَكُونُcan beالْقُرْآنُthe Qur'anمَخْلُوقًاcreatedوَاسْمٌand the nameاللَّهِof Godفِيinالْقُرْآنِthe Qur'anهَذَاthisيُوجِبُnecessitatesأَنْthatيَكُونَisأَسْمَاءُthe namesاللَّهِof GodمَخْلُوقَةٌcreatedوَلَوْAnd ifكَانَتْthey wereأَسْمَاؤُهُHis namesمَخْلُوقَةًcreatedلَكَانَتْthey would beوَاحِدَانِيَّتُهُHis Onenessمَخْلُوقَةًcreatedوَكَذَلِكَand likewiseعِلْمُهُHis knowledgeوَقُدْرَتُهُand His powerتَعَالَىthe ExaltedاللَّهُGodعَنْbe far fromذَلِكَthatعُلُوًّاexaltedكَبِيرًاgreat
So how can the Qur'an be created? And the name of God in this Qur'an necessitates that the names of God are created. If His names were created, then His Oneness would also be created, and likewise His knowledge and power. Exalted is God above that, greatly exalted.
(دَلِيلٌ(evidenceآخَرُ)another)وَقَدْAnd indeedقَالَsaidاللَّهُGodعَزَّthe ExaltedوَجَلَّHe be glorifiedتَبَارَكَBlessedاسْمُnameرَبِّكَyour Lordوَandيُقَالُit is saidلِلْمَخْلُوقِto the createdتَبَارَكَBlessedفَدَلَّso showsهَذَاthisعَلَىthatأَنَّthatأَسْمَاءَthe namesاللَّهِof Godغَيْرُnotمَخْلُوقَةٌcreated
(evidence) And indeed God, the Exalted, said: 'Blessed is the name of your Lord.' And it is said to the created: 'Blessed.' So this shows that the names of God are not created.
وَقَالَAnd saidوَيَبْقَىand remains
And he remains.
