وَجْهُهُHis faceالَّذِيwhichبِهِwith itتَقُولُونَyou sayوَدِينُكُمْand your religionالَّتِيwhichبِهَاby itتَدِينُونَyou practice your faith
His face, which you say, and your religion by which you practice your faith.
قِيلَIt was saidلَهُto him
It was said to him.
قَوْلُنَاOur sayingالَّذِيwhichنَقُولُwe sayبِهِby itوَدِينُنَاand our religionالَّتِيwhichنَدِينُwe adhere toبِهَاby itالْتَّمَسُّكُis adherenceبِكِتَابِto the Bookرَبِّنَاof our Lordعَزَّ وَجَلَّExalted and Gloriousوَبِسُنَّةِand to the Sunnahنَبِيِّنَاof our Prophetعَلَيْهِpeace be upon himالسَّلاَمُpeaceوَمَاand whatرَوَىwas narratedعَنْfromالصَّحَابَةِthe Companionsوَالْتَّابِعِينَand the Followersوَائِمَّةِand the Imamsالْحَدِيثِof Hadithوَنَحْنُand weبِذَلِكَby thisمُعْتَصِمُونَare firm
Our saying, which we say by our religion, is adherence to the Book of our Lord, Exalted and Glorious, and to the Sunnah of our Prophet, peace be upon him, and what was narrated from the Companions, the Followers, and the Imams of Hadith, and we are firm in this.
وَبِمَاand with whatكَانَwasيَقُولُsaidبِهِby itأَبُوAbuعَبْدِ اللَّهAbdullahأَحْمَدُAhmadبِنْbinمُحَمَّدMuhammadبِنْbinحَنْبَلHanbalنَضَّرَmay He blessاللَّهُAllahوَرَفَعَand raiseدَرَجَتَهُHis rankوَأَجْزَلَand grant abundantlyمَثُوبَتَهُHis rewardقَالُونَاwe say
And with what Abu Abdullah Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Hanbal, may Allah bless him and raise his rank and grant him abundant reward, said, we say.
وَلَمَّاAnd whenخَالَفَhe opposedقَوْلَهُhis statementمُخَالِفُونَwe opposeلِأَنَّهُfor he isالإِمَامُthe Imamالْفَاضِلُthe virtuous
And when he opposed his statement, we oppose it, for he is the virtuous Imam.
وَالرَّئِيسُAnd the leaderالْكاملُthe completeالَّذِيwhoأَبَانَclarifiedاللَّهُAllahبِهِby himالْحَقُّthe truthوَرَفَعَand raisedبِهِby itالضَّلاَلَmisguidanceوَأَوْضَحَand clarifiedبِهِby itالْمَنْهَاجَthe pathوَقَمَعَand suppressedبِهِby itبِدَعَthe innovationsالْمُبْتَدِعِينَof the innovatorsوَزَيْغَand deviationالزَّائِغِينَof the deviantوَشَكٍّand doubtالشَّاكِّينَof the doubters
And the leader, the complete one, who clarified the truth by him, raised misguidance by it, and clarified the path, and suppressed the innovations of the innovators, and the deviation of the deviants, and the doubt of the doubters.
فَرَحْمَةُSo the mercyاللَّهِof Allahعَلَيْهِupon himمِنْof aإِمَامٍImamمُقَدَّمٍwho is eminentوَخَلِيلٍand a distinguished friendمُعَظَّمٍgreatly honoredمُفَخَّمٍand revered
So the mercy of Allah upon him is of an eminent Imam and a distinguished friend who is greatly honored and revered.
وَجُمْلَةُAnd the summaryقَوْلِنَاof our sayingإِنَّا نُقِرُّis that we affirmبِاللَّهِin Allahوَمَلَائِكَتِهِand His Angelsوَكُتُبِهِand His Booksوَرُسُلِهِand His Messengersوَبِمَاand with whatجَاؤُواthey broughtبِهِby itمِنْfromعِندَatاللَّهِAllahوَمَاand whatرَوَىwas narratedالثِّقَاتُby the trustworthyعَنْfromرَسُولِ اللَّهِthe Messenger of Allahلَاwe do notنَرُدُّrejectذَلِكَthatشَيْئًاanythingوَإِنَّAnd indeedاللَّهَAllahعَزَّ وَجَلَّExalted and GloriousإِلَهٌGodواحِدٌOneلَاthere is notإِلَهٌa godإِلَّاexceptهُوَHeفَرْدٌaloneصَمَدٌthe EternalلَمْHe has notيَتَّخِذْtakenصَاحِبَةًa partnerوَلَاnorوَلَدًاa son
And the summary of our saying is that we affirm in Allah, His Angels, His Books, and His Messengers, and with what they brought from Allah, and what was narrated by the trustworthy from the Messenger of Allah, we do not reject any of that.
وَأَنَّAnd thatمُحَمَّدًاMuhammadعَبْدُهُHis servantوَرَسُولُهُand His MessengerأَرْسَلَهُHe sent himبِالْهُدَىwith guidanceوَدِينِand the religionالْحَقِّof truthوَأَنَّAnd thatالْجَنَّةَthe paradiseحَقٌّis trueوَالنَّارَand the fireحَقٌّis realوَأَنَّAnd thatالسَّاعَةَthe hourآتِيَةٌis comingلَاthere is noرَيْبٌdoubtفِيهَاin it
And that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger; He sent him with guidance and with the true religion; and that Paradise is real, and the Fire is true, and that the Hour is coming, there is no doubt in it.
وَأَنَّAnd thatاللَّهَAllahيَبْعَثُwill resurrectمَنْthose whoفِيinالْقُبُورِthe gravesوَأَنَّAnd thatاللَّهَAllahمُسْتَوٍis aboveعَلَىonعَرْشِهِHis ThroneكَمَاasقَالَHe saidالرَّحْمَنُThe Most Mercifulعَلَىonالْعَرْشِthe ThroneاسْتَوَىHe ascendedوَأَنَّAnd thatلَهُHe hasوَجْهًاa faceكَمَاasقَالَHe saidوَيَبْقَىand remainsوَجْهُكَYour faceذُوpossessor ofالْجَلاَلِthe majestyوَالإكْرَامِand honor
And that Allah will resurrect those who are in the graves, and that Allah is above His Throne, as He said: 'The Most Merciful ascended over the Throne.' And that He has a face as He said: 'And Your face, full of majesty and honor, will remain.'
