إنَّIfكَانَhe hadقَدْalreadyقَالَsaidذَٰلِكَthatفَهُوَhe isصَادِقٌtruthful,,ثُمَّThenجَاءَcameرَسُولُthe Messengerاللَّهِof Allahﷺ
If he said that, then he is truthful. Then the Messenger of Allah came.
فَذَكَرَAnd he mentionedلَهُto himالرَّسُولَthe Messengerتِلْكَthoseالتَّفَاصِيلَdetails
And he mentioned those details to him.
فَكُلَّمَاWheneverذَكَرَhe mentionedشَيْئًاsomethingقَالَhe saidأَبُوAbuبَكْرٍBakrصَدَقَتْyou are truthful,,فَلَمَّاSo whenتَمَّcompletedالكَلَامُthe speech,,قَالَhe saidأَبُوAbuبَكْرٍBakr:أَشْهَدُI bear witnessأَنَّكَthat youرَسُولَMessengerاللَّهِof Allahحَقًّاtruly
So when the speech was completed, Abu Bakr said: 'I bear witness that you are truly the Messenger of Allah.'
قَالَHe saidالرَّسُولُthe Messengerمَعَwith:وَأَشْهَدُAnd I bear witnessأَنَّكَthat youصَدِيقٌa truthful friendحَقًّاtruly,,كَذَاlikewiseفِيinالتَّفْسِيرِthe great explanationالْكَبِيرِthe great
The Messenger said: 'And I bear witness that you are truly a truthful friend, likewise in the great explanation.'
ثُمَّThenعُمَرُOmarبْنِson ofالْخَطَّابِAl-Khattabالْفَارُوقُthe criterion
Then Omar ibn Al-Khattab, the criterion, said:
مَاThere is noمِنْofنَبِيٍّa prophetإِلَّاbutوَلَهُhe hasوَزِيرَانِtwo ministersمِنْfromأَهْلِthe peopleالسَّمَاءِthe heavenوَوَزِيرَانِand two ministersمِنْfromأَهْلِthe peopleالْأَرْضِthe earth,,فَأَمَّاAs forوَزِيرَيَّmy two ministersمِنْfromأَهْلِthe peopleالسَّمَاءِthe heavenفَجِبْرِيلُthen Gabrielوَمِكَائِيلُand Michael,,وَأَمَّاAnd as forوَزِيرَيَّmy two ministersمِنْfromأَهْلِthe peopleالْأَرْضِthe earth,,فَأَبُوthen AbuبَكْرٍBakrوَعُمَرُand Omar*مِنَofالْمَصَابِيحِthe lamps
There is no prophet except that he has two ministers from the people of heaven and two ministers from the people of the earth. As for my two ministers from the people of heaven, they are Gabriel and Michael, and as for my two ministers from the people of the earth, they are Abu Bakr and Omar, of the lamps.
وَرُوِيَAnd it was narratedعَنْfromابْنِIbnعَبَّاسٍAbbasرَضِيَmay Allah be pleasedاللَّهُwith Allahعَنْهُمَاthemأَنَّthatمُنَافِقًاa hypocriteخَاصَمَargued withيَهُودِيًّاa JewفَدَعَاهُSo he called himالْيَهُودِيَّthe Jewإِلَىtoالنَّبِيِّthe Prophet,,وَدَعَاهُand called himالْمُنَافِقَthe hypocriteإِلَىtoكَعْبٍKa'bبْنِthe son ofالْأَشْرَفِAl-Ashraf
And it was narrated from Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them, that a hypocrite argued with a Jew; so he called the Jew to the Prophet, and the hypocrite called to Ka'b ibn Al-Ashraf.
ثُمَّThenإِنَّهُمَاthey bothاحْتَكَمَاreferred toإِلَىtoرَسُولِthe Messengerاللَّهِof AllahإِلَّاexceptاللَّهَAllahفَحَكَمَand he ruledإِلَىtoالْيَهُودِيِّthe Jew,,فَلَمَّاbut he did notلَمْacceptيَرْضَthe hypocriteوَقَالَand he saidنَتَحَاكَمُlet us referإِلَىtoعُمَرَOmar,,فَقَالَSo Omar saidالْيَهُودِيُّthe Jew:قَضَىthe rulingلِيto meرَسُولُthe Messengerاللَّهِof Allahفَلَمَّاbut he did notيَرْضَacceptبِقَضَائِهِhis rulingوَخَاصَمَand he arguedإِلَيْكَwith you,,فَقَالَSo he saidعُمَرٌOmarرَضِيَmay Allah be pleasedعَنْهُwith himلَكَذَاis it so?؟?
Then they both referred to the Messenger of Allah, and he ruled in favor of the Jew, but the hypocrite did not accept it; he said, 'Let us refer to Omar.' Then the Jew said to Omar: 'The Messenger of Allah ruled in my favor, but he did not accept his ruling and argued with you.' Then Omar, may Allah be pleased with him, said to the hypocrite: 'Is it so?'
فَقَالَSo he saidمَكَانَكُمَاStay where you areحَتَّىuntilأَخْرُجَI come outوَلَاand do notيَكُونَbeبَيْنَهُbetween himوَبَيْنَand betweenخَلْقٍthe creationهَمْسَةًa distance
So he said: 'Stay where you are until I come out, and there should be no distance between him and the creation.'
وَالإِيمَانُAnd faithهُوَisالإِقْرَارُthe acknowledgmentوَالتَّصْدِيقُand the affirmation
And faith is the acknowledgment and the affirmation.
