وَالتَّقْدِيرُAnd the estimationلَاis notيَكُونُbeإِلَّاexceptمَعَwithالعِلْمِknowledgeفَقِيلَSo it was saidفِيinمَعْنَىthe meaningمَا قَدَّرْنَاof what we have estimatedكَتَبْنَاwe wrote
And the estimation is not possible except with knowledge, so it was said in the meaning of what we have estimated: we wrote.
قَالَHe saidالزُّجَاجُthe glassmakerمَعْنَىThe meaningمَا قَدَّرْنَاof what we have estimatedدَبَّرْنَاwe devisedوَأَصْلٌand the originالْقَضَاءِof the decreeإِتْمَامٌis the completion
The glassmaker said: The meaning of what we have estimated is that we devised, and the origin of the decree is the completion.
الشَّيْءُThe thingقَوْلًاin speechكَقَوْلِهِlike His sayingتَعَالَىthe Most High:«"وَقَضَىAnd decreedرَبُّكَYour Lordأَلَّاthat notتَعْبُدُواyou worshipإِلَّاexceptإِيَّاهُHim»"
The thing can be in speech, like His saying: "And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him."
أَوْOrفِعْلاًin actionكَقَوْلِهِlike His sayingتَعَالَىthe Most High:and«"فَقَضَاهُنَّAnd He decreed themسَبْعَsevenسَمَاوَاتٍheavens»"
Or in action, like His saying: "And He decreed them seven heavens."
كَذَا فِيAs mentioned inتَفْسِيرِthe explanationالْقَاضِيof the judgeوَلَا)And (there is noيَكُونُthere beفِيinالدُّنْيَاthe worldوَلَاand notفِيinالْآخِرَةِthe Hereafterشَيْءٌ)something)مِنْofالْجَوَاهِرِthe jewelsوَالْأَعْرَاضِand the attributesإِلَّاexceptبِمَشِيئَتِهِby His willوَعِلْمِهِand His knowledgeوَقَضَائِهِand His decreeوَقَدْرِهِand His estimationوَكَتَبَهَاand He has written themفِيinالْلَّوحِthe Preserved Tabletالْمَحْفُوظِ)(that is preserved)
As mentioned in the explanation of the judge, there is nothing in this world nor in the Hereafter of jewels and attributes except by His will, His knowledge, His decree, and His estimation, and He has written them in the Preserved Tablet.
قَالَThe Messenger saidاللَّهُAllahﷺ(peace be upon him):«"أَوَّلُFirstمَاthing thatخَلَقَcreatedاللَّهُAllahالْقَلَمَthe penفَقَالَSo He said to itلَهُto itاُكْتُبْwriteفَقَالَSo it saidالْقَلَمُthe penمَاذَاWhatاُكْتُبُshould I writeيَاOرَبِّيLordفَقَالَSo He saidاللَّهُAllahتَعَالَىthe Most High:اُكْتُبْWriteمَاwhatهُوَisكَائِنٌexistingإِلَىuntilيَوْمِthe dayالْقِيَامَةِof resurrectionوَلَكِنْbutكَتَبَهُHe wrote itبِالْوَصْفِby descriptionلَاnotبِالْحُكْمِby decreeيَعْنِيmeaningكَتَبَHe wroteفِيinالْلَّوْحِthe Tabletالْمَحْفُوظِthat is preserved
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "The first thing Allah created was the pen, and He said to it: 'Write.' The pen said: 'What should I write, O Lord?' Allah the Most High said: 'Write what is existing until the Day of Resurrection.' But He wrote it by description, not by decree, meaning He wrote in the Preserved Tablet.
كُلُّEverythingشَيْءٍisبِأَوْصَافِهِby its attributesمِنَofالْحُسْنِthe goodوَالْقُبْحِand the evilوَالطُّولِand the lengthوَالْعَرْضِand the widthوَالْصُّغْرِand the smallnessوَ الْكَبِرِand the greatnessوَالْقِلَّةِand the scarcityوَالْكَّثْرَةِand the abundanceوَالْخِفَّةِand the lightnessوَالْثِّقَلِand the heavinessوَالْحَرَارَةِand the heatوَالْبُرُودَةِand the coldوَالْرَّطُوبَةِand the moistureوَالْيُّبُوسَةِand the drynessوَالطَّاعَةِand the obedienceوَالْمَعْصِيَةِand the disobedienceوَالإِرَادَةِand the willوَالْقُدْرَةِand the powerوَالْكَسْبِand the earningوَغَيْرِand otherذَلِكَthan thatمِنَofالأَوْصَافِthe attributesوَالْأَحْوَالِand the statesوَالْأَخْلَاقِand the moralsوَلَمْAnd notيَكُنْbeكُلَّهَاall of them
Everything is described by its attributes, such as the good and the evil, the length and the width, the smallness and the greatness, the scarcity and the abundance, the lightness and the heaviness, the heat and the cold, the moisture and the dryness, the obedience and the disobedience, the will and the power, the earning, and other attributes, states, and morals; and not all of them can be changed.
أَنْThatيَتَغَيَّرَchangeعِلْمُهُHis knowledgeوَصِفَاتهُand attributesوَجَمِيعُand allأَفْعَالِactionsالْعِبَادِof the servantsمِنَofالْحَرَكَةِthe movementوَالسُّكُونِand the stillnessكَسْبِهِمْtheir earningعَلَىonالْحَقِيقَةِthe truthوَاللَّهُand Allahتَعَالَىthe Most Highخَالِقُهَاis its creatorوَهِيَand itبِمَشِيئَتِهِby His willوَعِلْمِهِand His knowledgeوَقَضَائِهِand His decreeوَقَدْرِهِand His estimationوَالطَّاعَاتِand the good deedsكُلُّهَاall
That His knowledge and attributes change, and all actions of the servants, whether movement or stillness, their earning is on truth; and Allah the Most High is the Creator of it, and it is by His will, His knowledge, His decree, and His estimation; and all good deeds.
