The noble gentle book: The greatest Imam Abu Hanifa may God have mercy on him said: The origin of oneness, that is, this book, is in explaining the reality of oneness, and it is in language the judgment that a thing is one and the knowledge that it is one. In terminology, oneness is the abstraction of the divine essence from all that is imagined in the minds and conceived in the illusions and intellects. The meaning of God being one is the denial of division in His essence, the denial of similarity and partnership in His essence and attributes, and the belief in His saying: (the belief upon it) knowledge, which is a decisive judgment that does not accept doubt, and the famous belief, which is a decisive judgment that also accepts doubt, as the famous belief encompasses. And in the opinion of some, the belief of most of the common people should also say with the letter 'Y' (absence), that is, it is assumed that the believer says: (I believed in God and His angels and His books and His messengers and the resurrection after death and the destiny of its good and evil from God the Exalted). He said to say and did not say to believe in God to indicate that nothing is similar to Him nor does anything resemble Him from His creation. He has neither ceased to be nor still exists with His names and attributes; as for the essential attributes, they are life, power, knowledge, and speech.
