Then he responded to him that love, in its aspect, is neither praised nor blamed, but its ruling is clarified by mentioning its attachment. There is beneficial, harmful, permissible, and forbidden.

Then he mentioned that the most beneficial love in general, the most obligatory and the highest, is the love of God, Glory be to Him, and that the greatest pleasures of this world are those that lead to the greatest pleasure in the Hereafter.

Then he established a chapter that there is no blame in the love of women upon the lover, rather it is part of his perfection; thus, marriage to the beloved is the remedy for love that God has made its remedy legally and by destiny. Then he mentioned that love has three categories: one is proximity and obedience, which is the love of a man for his wife and concubine; the second is aversion from God, which is the love of young boys, and he called it 'the raging disease,' and he mentioned its cure; and the third is a permissible love he does not control, like one who was described to him a beautiful woman, or saw her suddenly without aiming, leading him to love her, and that love did not result in a sin. He mentioned that the most beneficial for him is to resist it and engage in what is more beneficial for him, and he must keep it a secret, abstain, and be patient during his trial, and God will reward him for that, and compensate him for his patience, his abstinence, and his leaving the obedience to his desires, and preferring the pleasure of God and what is with Him.
