كَمَاAsأَنَّthatهَذِهِtheseالمَعَاصِيsinsمِنْare fromآثَارِthe effects ofتِلْكَthoseالْجَرَائِمِcrimes
As these sins are effects of those crimes.
فَتَنَاسَبَتْThen it matchedحِكْمَةَthe wisdom ofاللَّهِGodوَحُكْمَهُand His decreeالْكَوْنِيِّuniversalأَوَّلًاfirstوَآخِرًاand finally
Then it matched the wisdom of God and His universal decree, first and finally.
وَكَانَAnd there wasالْعَظِيمُthe greatمِنَofالْعُقُوبَةِthe punishmentلِلْعَظِيمِfor the greatمِنَofالْجِنَايَةِthe crime,,وَالأَخْفِand the lesserلِلْأَخْفِfor the lesser
And there was the great punishment for the great crime, and the lesser for the lesser.
وَهَكَذَاAnd thusيَحْكُمُHe judgesسُبْحَانَهُGlory be to HimبَيْنَamongخَلْقِهِHis creationفِيinدَارِthe realmالْبَرْزَخِof Barzakhوَandدَارِthe realmالْجَزَاءِof reward.
And thus He judges, glory be to Him, among His creation in the realm of Barzakh and the realm of reward.
وَتَأَمَّلْAnd reflectمُقَارَنَةَon the comparison ofالشَّيَاطِينِthe devilوَandمَحَلِّهِhis place,,وَandدَارِهِhis dwelling,,فَإِنَّهُfor whenلَمَّاheقَارَنَcomparedالْعَبْدَthe servantوَاسْتَوْلَىٰand took overعَلَيْهِhim,,نُزِعَتْthe blessing was taken awayالْبَرَكَةُthe blessingمِنْfromعُمْرِهِhis ageوَعَمَلِهِand his work,,وَقَوْلِهِand his speech,,وَرِزْقِهِand his provision.
And reflect on the comparison of the devil and his place, and his dwelling. For when he compared with the servant and took over him, the blessing was taken away from his age, his work, his speech, and his provision.
وَلَمَّاAnd whenأَثَّرَتْhis obedience influencedطَاعَتُهُHis obedienceفِيinالْأَرْضِthe earthمَاwhatأَثَّرَتْinfluenced,,نُزِعَتْthe blessing was taken awayالْبَرَكَةُthe blessingمِنْfromكُلِّeveryمَحَلٍّplaceظَهَرَتْappearedفِيهِin itطَاعَتُهُhis obedience.
And when his obedience influenced the earth as it did, the blessing was taken away from every place where his obedience appeared.
وَكَذَٰلِكَAnd likewiseمَسْكَنُهُhis abodeلَمَّاwhenكَانَit wasالْجَحِيمُthe Hellfireلَمْthere was notهُنَاكَanythingشَيْءٌfromالرُّوحِspiritوَالرَّحْمَةِand mercyوَالْبَرَكَةِand blessing.
And likewise, his abode; when it was the Hellfire, there was not anything of spirit, mercy, or blessing there.
فَصْلٌSection..
Section.
وَمِنْAnd fromعُقُوبَاتِthe punishments ofالذُّنُوبِsins::أَنَّهَاthat theyتُطْفِئُextinguishمِنَfromالْقَلْبِthe heartنَارَthe fire ofالْغَيْرَةِjealousyالَّتِيwhichهِيَisلِحَيَاتِهِfor his lifeوَصَلاحِهِand righteousnessكَالْحَرَارَةِlike the innate heatالْغَرِيزِيَّةِof allلِحَيَاةِfor the lifeجَمِيعِof allالْبَدَنِthe body.
And from the punishments of sins is that they extinguish from the heart the fire of jealousy, which is for his life and righteousness, like the innate heat for the life of all the body.
فَالْغَيْرَةُSo jealousyحَرَارَتُهَاis its heatوَنَارُهَاand its fireالَّتِيthatتُخْرِجُbrings outمَاwhatفِيهَاis in itمِنَfromالْخَبَثِfilthوَالْصِّفَاتِand the traitsالْمَذْمُومَةِthat are blameworthy,,,كَمَاjust asتُخْرِجُit brings outالْكِيرُthe furnaceخَبَثَthe filth ofالذَّهَبِgoldوَالْفِضَّةِand silverوَالْحَدِيدِand iron.
So jealousy is its heat and its fire that brings out what is in it from filth and traits that are blameworthy, just as the furnace brings out the filth of gold, silver, and iron.
وَأَشْرَفُAnd the most honoredالنَّاسِof peopleوَأَعْلَاهُمْand the highest among themهِمَّةًaspirationأَشَدُّهُمْare the most intense of themغَيْرَةًin jealousyعَلَىٰforنَفْسِهِhimself,andوَخَاصَّةًhis special ones,and the generalالنَّاسِpublic.
And the most honored of people and the highest among them in aspiration are the most intense of them in jealousy for themselves, their special ones, and the general public.
وَلِهَذَاAnd for this reasonكَانَthe Prophet ﷺأَغْيَرَwas the most jealousالْخَلْقِof creationعَلَىforالْأُمَّةِthe nation,andاللَّهُGodسُبْحَانَهُthe Exaltedأَشَدُّis more intenseغَيْرَةًin jealousyمِنْهُthan him.كَمَاAsثَبَتَتْit was establishedفِيinالصَّحِيحِthe authenticعَنْهُfrom himأَنَّهُthat he said :«"أَتَعَجَّبُونَAre you surprisedمِنْbyغَيْرَةِthe jealousy ofسَعْدٍ؟Sa'd?لِأَنَّاFor weأَغْيَرُare more jealous than heمِنْهُis.وَاللَّهُAnd Allahأَغْيَرُis more jealousمِنِّيthan me.(١)(1)فَSoكَلِمَةُthe wordاللَّهِGod،,تَحْرِيفٌis a distortion.
And for this reason, the Prophet was the most jealous of creation for the nation, and God, the Exalted, is more intense in jealousy than him, as it has been established in the authentic reports that he said: "Are you surprised by the jealousy of Sa'd? For we are more jealous than he is. And Allah is more jealous than me."
