وَأَمَّاAs forالرَّجُلَthe manالَّذِيwhoأَتَيْتَyou came acrossعَلَيْهِhimيَسْبَحُswimmingفِيinالنَّهْرِthe river,,وَيُلْقِمُand he putsالْحِجَارَةَthe stones,,فَإِنَّهُhe indeedآكِلٌa consumerالرِّبَاof usury
As for the man who you came across swimming in the river, and puts the stones, indeed he is a consumer of usury.
وَأَمَّاAnd as forالرَّجُلُthe manالْكَرِيهِuglyالْمَرْآةِsightالَّذِيwhoعِندَbyالنَّارِthe fireيُحِسُّهَاhe feels itوَيَسْعَىand walksحَوْلَهَاaround it,,فَإِنَّهُhe indeedمَالِكٌis the ownerخَازِنٌthe keeperجَهَنَّمَof Hell
And as for the ugly man whom you see by the fire, he feels it and walks around it, he indeed is the keeper of Hell.
وَأَمَّاAnd as forالرَّجُلَthe manالطَّوِيلَtallالَّذِيwhoفِيinالرَّوْضَةِthe garden,,فَإِنَّهُhe indeedإِبْرَاهِيمُis Abraham.
And as for the tall man who is in the garden, he indeed is Abraham.
وَأَمَّاAnd as forالْوِلْدَانَthe boysالَّذِينَwhoحَوْلَهُaround him,,فَكُلَّeveryمَوْلُودٍnewbornمَاتَwho diedعَلَىonالْفِطْرَةِthe innate disposition--وَفِيAnd inرِوَايَةِthe narrationالْبَرْقَانِيِّof Al-Barqani:: «وُلِدَ‘He was bornعَلَىonالْفِطْرَةِthe innate disposition--فَقَالَthen saidبَعْضُsomeالْمُسْلِمِينَMuslims:: يَاOرَسُولَMessengerاللَّهِof Allah:: وَأَوْلَادَand the childrenالْمُشْرِكِينَof the polytheists?فَقَالَHe saidرَسُولُ اللَّهِthe Messenger of Allah:: وَأَوْلَادَand the childrenالْمُشْرِكِينَof the polytheists.
And as for the boys who are around him, every newborn who died on the innate disposition - and in the narration of Al-Barqani: 'He was born on the innate disposition - then some Muslims said: O Messenger of Allah, what about the children of the polytheists? The Messenger of Allah said: and the children of the polytheists.
وَأَمَّاAnd as forالْقَوْمِthe peopleالَّذِينَwhoكَانُواwereشَطْرٌhalfمِنْهُمْof themحَسَنٌgood,,,وَشَطْرٌand halfمِنْهُمْof themقَبِيحٌugly,,,فَإِنَّهُمْthey indeedقَوْمٌare a peopleخَلَطُواwho mixedعَمَلًاactionsصَالِحًاgood[[۳۰/ب30/B]]وَآخَرَand anotherسَيِّئًاbad,,,تَجَاوَزَAllah pardonedاللَّهُاللهعَنْهُمْthem.
And as for the people who were half good and half ugly, they are a people who mixed good actions and bad actions; Allah pardoned them.
وَمِنْAnd fromآثَارِthe effectsالذُّنُوبِof sins:: أَنَّهَاthat theyتُحْدِثُbring aboutفِيinالأَرْضِthe earthأَنْوَاعًاtypes(٥)(5)مِنْof(7)(7)الْفَسَادِcorruptionفِيinالْمِيَاهِthe waters،,وَالْهَوَاءِand the air،,وَالزُّرُعِand the crops،,وَالثِّمَارِand the fruits،,وَالْمَسَاكِنِand the dwellings.
And from the effects of sins is that they bring about types of corruption in the earth, in the waters, in the air, in the crops, in the fruits, and in the dwellings.
قَالَHe saidتَعَالَىthe Exalted:: ﴿‘ظَهَرَCorruption has appearedالْفَسَادُthe corruptionفِيinالْبَرِّthe landوَالْبَحْرِand the seaبِمَاbecause of whatكَسَبَتْhas earnedأَيْدِيthe hands ofالنَّاسِthe people...لِيُذِيقَهُمْTo make them tasteبَعْضَsomeالَّذِيof whatعَمِلُواthey have doneلَعَلَّهُمْso that theyيَرْجِعُونَmay return.﴾’
He said the Exalted: 'Corruption has appeared in the land and the sea because of what the hands of the people have earned. To make them taste some of what they have done, so that they may return.'
