الإيمانُFaithيَنْهَاهُprevents himوَوَاعِظٌand the admonisherالمَوْتِof deathيَنْهَاهُprevents him
Faith prevents him, and the admonisher of death prevents him.
وَوَاعِظٌAnd the admonisherالنَّارِof hellيَنْهَاهُprevents him
And the admonisher of hell prevents him.
وَالَّذِيAnd the one whoيَفُوتُهُmissesبِالمَعْصِيَةِby sinningمِنْfromخَيْرِthe goodالدُّنْيَاof this worldوَالْآخِرَةِand the Hereafterأَضْعَافُmultitudesأَضْعَافُof multitudesمَاwhatيَحْصُلُhe gainsلَهُfor himمِنْofالسُّرُورِjoyوَاللَّذَّةِand pleasureبِهَاin it
And the one who misses by sinning from the good of this world and the Hereafter is multitudes of what he gains in joy and pleasure from it.
فَهَلSo doesيُقَدِّمُhe proceedعَلَىonالاُسْتِخْفَافِbelittlingبِذَٰلِكَwith thatكُلِّهِallوَالاُسْتِخْفَافِand belittlingبِهِitذُوthe possessor ofعَقْلٍsound mindسَلِيمٍsane؟
So does he proceed to belittle all of that? Is he the possessor of a sound mind?
فَصْلٌSection:ومِنْهَاAnd among them is:أَنْthatالذُّنُوبَsinsإِذَاifتَكَاثَرَتْincreasedطُبِعَتْit is sealedعَلَىonقَلْبِthe heartصَاحِبِهَاof its owner,, فَكَانَتْit becomesمِنْamongالْغَافِلِينَthe heedless
Section: And among them is that if sins increase, it becomes sealed on the heart of its owner, and he becomes among the heedless.
كَمَاAsقَالَsome saidبَعْضٌsomeالسَّلَفِof the early generationفِيinقَوْلِهِHis sayingتَعَالَىthe Exalted:: ﴿('كَلَّاNoبَلْbutرَانَit has coveredعَلَىuponقُلُوبِهِمْtheir heartsمَّاwhatكَانُواthey wereيَكْسِبُونَearning
As some of the early generation said in His saying, the Exalted: 'No, but it has covered upon their hearts what they were earning.'
قَالَHe said:: هُوَIt isالذَّنْبُthe sinبَعْدَafterالذَّنْبِthe sinوَقَالَAnd he saidالْحَسَنُAl-Hasan:: هُوَIt isالذَّنْبُthe sinعَلَىonالذَّنْبِthe sinحَتَّىuntilيُعْمَىit blindsالْقَلْبَthe heart
He said: It is the sin after the sin. And Al-Hasan said: It is the sin upon the sin until the heart is blinded.
وَقَالَAnd he saidغَيْرُهُothers:: لَمَّاWhenكَثُرَتْincreasedذُنُوبُهُمْtheir sinsوَمَعَاصِيهِمand their disobediencesأَحَاطَتْsurroundedبِقُلُوبِهِمْtheir hearts
And others said: When their sins and disobediences increased, they surrounded their hearts.
وَأَصْلُAnd the basisهَذَاof thisأَنْis thatالْقَلْبَthe heartيَصْدَأُgets rustyمِنْfromالْمَعْصِيَةِsin,, فَإِنْifزَادَتْit increasesغَلَبَتْovercomes
And the basis of this is that the heart gets rusty from sin. If it increases, it overcomes.
وَوَاعِظٌAnd the admonisherالمَوْتُof deathيَنْهَاهُprevents himسَاقِطٌis droppedمِنْfromسِtext
And the admonisher of death prevents him; it is dropped from the text.
فِيInالْمَدَارِجِthe stages:قَالَHe saidابْنُIbnعَبَّاسٍAbbasوَغَيْرُهُand othersهُوَisالذُّنُوبُthe sinبَعْدَafterالذُّنُوبِthe sinsيُغَطِّيit coversالْقَلْبَthe heartحَتَّىuntilيُصْبِحَit becomes likeكَالرَّانِthe seal upon it.عَلَيْهِ
In the stages: Ibn Abbas and others said: It is the sins after the sins that cover the heart until it becomes like a seal upon it.
أَخْرَجَهُNarratedالْبَيْهَقِيُّby Al-Bayhaqiفِيinالشُّعَبِthe communitiesعَنْfromإِبْرَاهِيمَIbrahimابْنِson ofأَدْهَمَAdham.س
Narrated by Al-Bayhaqi in the communities from Ibn Adham.
تَفْسِيرٌInterpretationالطَّبَرِيِّof Al-Tabari:وَذَكَرَAnd he mentionedالْمُصَنِّفُthe authorنَحْوَهُsimilar to itفِيinشِفَاءِthe healingالْعَلِيلِof the ill:: عَنْfromمُجَاهِدِMujahid
Interpretation of Al-Tabari: And the author mentioned similar to it in the healing of the ill: from Mujahid.
أَخْرَجَهُNarratedابْنُby IbnأَبِيAbiالدُّنْيَاthe worldفِيinالتَّوْبَةِrepentance:قَالَHe saidالْحَسَنُAl-Hasan:: تَدْرُونَDo you knowمَاwhatالإِرَانَةُthe covering is?؟?الذَّنْبُThe sinبَعْدَafterالذَّنْبِthe sinحَتَّىuntilيَمُوتَit diesالْقَلْبُthe heart.
Narrated by Ibn Abi the world in repentance: He said: Do you know what the covering is? The sin after the sin until the heart dies.
وَأَخْرَجَAnd narratedفِيinالْعُقُوبَاتِthe punishmentsعَنْfromمُحَمَّدٍMuhammadابْنِson ofوَاسِعٍWasiالذَّنْبُThe sinعَلَىuponالذَّنْبِthe sinيُمِيتُkillsالْقَلْبَthe heart.
And narrated in the punishments from Muhammad ibn Wasi: The sin upon the sin kills the heart.
نَسَبَهُHe attributed itالْمُؤَلِّفُthe authorفِيinشِفَاءِthe healingالْعَلِيلِof the ill:إِلَىtoالْفَرَّاءِAl-Farra،, وَهُوَand he isفِيinمَعَانيthe meaningsالْقُرْآنِof the Quranلَهُfor him.
He attributed it to the author in the healing of the ill: to Al-Farra, and he is in the meanings of the Quran for him.
