يُذَلُّis humiliatedمَنwhoعَصَاهُdisobeys him

He is humiliated who disobeys Him.

وَقَالَAnd saidعَبْدُ اللهAbdullahبِنْbinالمُبَارَكِAl-Mubarak

And Abdullah bin Al-Mubarak said.

رَأَيْتُI sawالذُّنُوبَsinsتُمِيتُkillالْقُلُوبَthe heartsوَقَدْand mayيُورِثُinheritالذُّلَّhumiliationإِدْمَانَهَاits indulgence

I saw sins kill the hearts and may inherit humiliation through their indulgence.

وَتَرْكُAnd leavingالذُّنُوبِsinsحَيَاةٌis the lifeالْقُلُوبِof the heartsوَخَيْرٌand the bestلِنَفْسِكَfor yourselfعِصْيَانَهَاis to disobey them

And leaving sins is the life of the hearts, and the best for yourself is to disobey them.

وَهَلْAnd isأَفْسَدَcorruptedالدِّينُthe religionإِلَّاexceptالْمُلُوكُthe kingsوَأَحْبَارُand the scholarsسُوءٍof evilوَرُهْبَانُهَاand their monks

And has anything corrupted the religion except for the kings, the evil scholars, and their monks?

فَصْلٌSection:وَمِنْهَاAnd of them:: أَنْthatالمَعَاصِيَthe sinsتُفْسِدُcorruptالعَقْلَthe intellect

Section: And of them is that sins corrupt the intellect.

فَإِنَّFor indeedلِلْعَقْلِfor the intellectنُورًاa light,, وَالْمَعْصِيَةُand the sinتُطْفِئُextinguishesنُورَthe lightالعَقْلِof the intellect,, وَلَازِمٌand it is necessary؛;وَإِذَاand ifطُفِئَextinguishedنُورُهُits lightضَعُفَweakensوَنَقَصَand diminishes

For indeed the intellect has a light, and the sin extinguishes the light of the intellect; and it is necessary; and if its light is extinguished, it weakens and diminishes.

وَقَالَAnd saidبَعْضٌsomeالسَّلَفِof the predecessors:: مَاNoعَصَىone disobeyedاللهَAllahأَحَدٌanyoneحَتَّىuntilيَغِيبَhe loses sight ofعَقْلَهُhis intellect

And some of the predecessors said: No one disobeys Allah until he loses sight of his intellect.

وَهَذَاAnd thisظَاهِرٌis apparent,, فَإِنَّهُfor indeedلَوْifحَضَرَهُit attended himعَقْلُهُhis intellect,, لَحَجَزَهُit would have restrained himعَنْfromالْمَعْصِيَةِthe sin,, وَهُوَand he isفِيinقَبْضَةِthe graspالرَّبِّof the Lordتَعَالَىthe Exaltedوَتَحْتَand underقَهْرِهِhis power

And this is apparent, for indeed if his intellect attended him, it would have restrained him from the sin, while he is in the grasp of the Lord, the Exalted, and under His power.

وَهُوَAnd he is(٦)(6)مُطَّلِعٌawareعَلَيْهِof it,, وَفِيand inدَارِهِHis abodeوَعَلَىand onبَسَاطِهِHis carpet (throne)

And he is aware of it, and in His abode, and on His carpet (throne).

وَمَلَائِكَتَهُAnd His angelsشُهُودٌare witnessesعَلَيْهِagainst him,, نَاظِرُونَwatchingإِلَيْهِhim

And His angels are witnesses against him, watching him.

وَوَعَظَAnd the preacherالْقُرْآنُQuranيَنْهَاهُforbids him,, وَوَعَظَand the preacher

And the preacher of the Quran forbids him, and the preacher.

نَقَلَهُIt was transmittedالْمُصَنِّفُby the compilerفِيinإغَاثَةِthe book Al-IghathaاللَّهْفَانِAl-Lahfan(١٠٦،(106,٩٢١)921).،, وَرُودَةِand the gardenالْمُحِبِّينِthe lovers(٢٠١)(201).وَنَقَلَهُAnd it was transmittedأَبُوby AbuنَعِيمٍNaimفِيinالْحِلْيَةِthe book Al-Hilya(١٧٧/٢)(177/2)

It was transmitted by the compiler in the book Al-Ighatha (106, 921), and the garden of the lovers (201). And it was transmitted by Abu Naim in the book Al-Hilya (177/2).

ف:So:وَقَالَAnd saidابْنُIbnالمُبَارَكِAl-Mubarak

So: And said Ibn Al-Mubarak.

بَهْجَةُJoy ofالْمَجَالِسِthe gatherings(٣٣٤/٣)(334/3)

Joy of the gatherings (334/3).

وَأَنْظُرْAnd lookزَادَthe book ZadالمَعَادِAl-Ma'ad(٢٠٣/٤)(203/4)

And look at the book Zad Al-Ma'ad (203/4).

وَالْمَدَارِجُAnd the stages(٢٦٤/٣)(264/3)

And the stages (264/3).

أَخْرَجَهُIt was narratedابْنُby IbnحِبَّانَHibbanفِيinالثِّقَاتِthe trustworthy(٦٥٨/٧)(658/7)بِسَنْدِهِwith his chain of narratorsعَنْfromأَبِيAbuالْعَالِيَةِAl-Aliyaقَالَ:he said:«مَا"Noعَصَىone disobeyedاللَّهَAllahعَبْدٌa servantإِلَّاexceptمِنْfromجَهَالَةٍignorance

It was narrated by Ibn Hibban in the trustworthy (658/7) with his chain of narrators from Abu Al-Aliya, he said: "No servant disobeys Allah except from ignorance."

وَجَاءَAnd it cameهَذَاthisالْمَعْنَىmeaningعَنْfromمُجَاهِدٍMujahidوَغَيْرِهِand others.

And this meaning came from Mujahid and others.

وَقَالَAnd saidالْمَنَاوِيُّAl-Manawiفِيinفَيْضِthe book FaydالْقَدِيرِAl-Qadir(٨٦/١):(86/1):وَلِهَذَاAnd for thisقَالَhe saidحَكِيمٌwise

And said Al-Manawi in the book Fayd Al-Qadir (86/1): "And for this, he said a wise man...

ل:So:حَضَرَHe attendedعَقْلَهُhis intellect.

So: His intellect attended.

زZوَتَحْتَand underقُدْرَتِهِHis powerهُوَit is

And under His power it is.
