تَأْمَنْYou feel safe aboutسُوءٍthe badعَاقِبَتِهِconsequences

You feel safe about the bad consequences.

وَلَمَّاAnd whenيَتْبَعُfollowsالذَّنْبَthe sinأَعْظَمَgreaterمِنَthanالذَّنْبِthe sinإِذَاifعَمِلْتَهُyou committed it

And when something greater than the sin follows the sin if you committed it.

قِلَّةَThe lack ofحَيَائِكَyour shynessمِمَّنْfrom whomعَلَىonالْيَمِينِthe rightوَعَلَىand onالشَّمَالِthe leftوَأَنْتَand youعَلَىonالذَّنْبِthe sinأَعْظَمُis greaterمِنَthanالذَّنْبِthe sin

The lack of your shyness from those on your right and on your left while you are on the sin is greater than the sin.

وَضَحِكُكَAnd your laughterوَأَنْتَwhile youلَاdo notتَدْرِيknowمَاwhatاللَّهَAllahصَانِعٌis doingبِكَwith you,,أَعْظَمُis greaterمِنَthanالذَّنْبِthe sin

And your laughter while you do not know what Allah is doing with you is greater than the sin.

وَفَرَحُكَAnd your happinessبِالذَّنْبِin the sinإِذَاifظَفِرْتَyou achievedبِهِitأَعْظَمُis greaterمِنَthanالذَّنْبِthe sin

And your happiness in the sin if you achieved it is greater than the sin.

وَحَزَنُكَAnd your sadnessعَلَىoverالذَّنْبِthe sinإِذَاifفَاتَكit escaped youأَعْظَمُis greaterمِنَthanالذَّنْبِthe sin

And your sadness over the sin if it escaped you is greater than the sin.

وَخَوْفُكَAnd your fearمِنَofالرِّيحِthe windإِذَاifحَرَّكَتْit movedسِتْرَthe curtain ofبَابِكَyour doorوَأَنْتَand youعَلَىonالذَّنْبِthe sinوَلَاand do notيَضْطَرِبُtrembleفُؤَادُكَyour heartمِنْfromنَظَرِthe glanceاللَّهَAllahإِلَيْكَat you,,أَعْظَمُis greaterمِنَthanالذَّنْبِthe sin

And your fear of the wind if it moved the curtain of your door while you are on the sin and your heart does not tremble from Allah's glance at you is greater than the sin.

وَيْحَكَWoe to you!هَلDo youتَدْرِيknowمَاwhatكَانَwasذَنبُthe sinأَيُّوبَof Job,,,فَابْتَلَاهُso Allah afflicted himبِالْبَلَاءِwith calamityفِيinجَسَدِهِhis bodyوَذَهَابِand the loss ofمَالِهِhis wealth

Woe to you! Do you know what was the sin of Job, so Allah afflicted him with calamity in his body and the loss of his wealth?

اسْتَغَاثَHe cried for helpبِهِwith himمِسْكِينٌa poor manعَلَىagainstظَالِمٍa tyrantيَدْرَؤُهُwho would repel himعَنْهُfrom himيُغِيثُهُto aid him,,وَلَمْand did notيَنْهَprohibitالظَّالِمَthe tyrantعَنْfromظُلْمِهِhis oppression,,فَابْتَلَاهُso Allah afflicted him.

He cried for help with him, a poor man against a tyrant who would repel him from him to aid him, and did not prohibit the tyrant from his oppression, so Allah afflicted him.
