عَبْدُ اللهِAbdullahبْنِson ofمَسْعُودٍ،Mus'ud,عَنْfromأَبِيهِhis fatherقَالَsaid::إِذَاifظَهَرَappearsالزِّنَاadulteryوَالرِّبَا)and usury)فِيinقَرْيَةٍa villageأَذِنَGod permittedاللَّهُAllahعَزَّAlmightyوَجَلَّand Exaltedبِهَيْلِكَهَاits destruction.
Abdullah bin Mas'ud, from his father said: If adultery and usury appear in a village, Allah Almighty permits its destruction.
وَفِيAnd inمَرَاسِلِthe messagesالْحَسَنِof Al-Hasan::إِذَاIfأَظْهَرَpeople showالنَّاسُthe peopleالْعِلْمَ،knowledge,وَضَيَّعُواand neglectالْعَمَلَ،the work,وَتَحَابُّواand love one anotherبِالْأَلسُنِ،with the tongues,وَتَبَاغَضُواand hate one anotherبِالْقُلُوبِ،with the hearts,وَتَقَاطَعُواand cut offبِالْأَرْحَامِthe ties of kinship =::لَعَنَهُمُAllah curses themاللَّهُAllahعَزَّAlmightyوَجَلَّand Exaltedعِندَat that time,فَأَصَمَّهُمْso He deafened them,وَأَعْمَىand made blindأَبْصَارَهُمْtheir eyes.
And in the messages of Al-Hasan: If people show knowledge, neglect the work, love each other with their tongues, hate each other with their hearts, and cut off the ties of kinship = Allah curses them at that time, so He deafens them and blinds their eyes.
وَفِيAnd inسُنَنِthe traditionsابْنِof IbnمَاجَهَMajah(٤)(4).مِنْFromحَدِيثِthe hadithعَبْدِ اللّهِAbdullahبْنِbinعُمَرَOmarبْنِson ofالْخَطَّابِAl-Khattabقَالَsaid::كُنتُI wasعَاشِرَamong tenعَشَرَةَof tenرَهْطٍpeopleمِنَofالْمُهَاجِرِينَthe immigrantsعِندَwithرَسُولِthe Messengerاللَّهِof Allahﷺ،(peace be upon him),فَأَقْبَلَthen he approachedعَلَيْنَاusرَسُولُthe Messengerاللَّهِof Allahﷺ(peace be upon him),بِوَجْهِهِwith his faceفَقَالَand said::يَاOمَعْشَرَgatheringالْمُهَاجِرِينَ،of the immigrants,خَمْسٌfiveخِصَالٍcharacteristicsوَأَعُوذُand I seek refugeبِاللَّهِwith Allahأَنْthatتَدْرِكُوهُنَّyou catch them. مَاnotظَهَرَتْappearedالْفَاحِشَةُthe indecencyفِيinقَوْمٍa peopleحَتَّىuntilأَعْلَنُواthey announceبِهَاit إِلَّاإِلَّاthey were afflicted.ابْتُلُواand were afflictedبِالطُّعَانِwith plaguesوَالأَوْجَاعِand painsالَّتِيwhichلَمْwere notتَكُنْin the ancestorsفِيinأَسْلَافِهِمْtheir forefathersالَّذِينَwhoمَضَوْا.have passed.
And in the traditions of Ibn Majah (4), from the hadith of Abdullah bin Omar bin Al-Khattab, he said: I was among ten people of the immigrants with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) approached us with his face and said: O gathering of immigrants, five characteristics and I seek refuge with Allah that you catch them. Not a people appeared indecency until they announced it except that they were afflicted with plagues and pains that were not in their forefathers who have passed.
وَلَاAnd notنَقَصَreduceقَوْمٌa peopleالْمِكْيَالَthe measures(٥)(5)
And not a people reduce the measures (5)...
إِلَّاexcept thatابْتُلُواthey were afflictedبِالسِّنِينَwith yearsوَشِدَّةِand severeالْمُؤْنَةِhardshipوَجَوْرٍand injustice
except that they were afflicted with years and severe hardship and injustice.
