فَصْلٌSectionفَقَدْFor itتَبَيَّنَhas become clearالْفَرْقُthe differenceبَيْنَbetweenحَسَنِgoodالظَّنِّopinion،,وَالْغُرُورِand arroganceوَأَنَّand thatحَسَنَgoodالظَّنِّopinionإِنْifحَمَلَit leadsعَلَىtoالْعَمَلِaction،,وَحَثَّand encouragesعَلَيْهِfor it،,وَسَاقَand drivesإِلَيْهِto it،,فَهُوَit isصَحِيحٌcorrect..
For it has become clear the difference between good opinion and arrogance. If good opinion leads to action, encourages it, and drives to it, then it is correct.
وَإِنْAnd ifدَعَاit callsإِلَىtoالْبَطَالَةِidlenessوَالاِنْهِمَاكِand indulgenceفِيinالمَعَاصِيsins،,فَهُوَthen it isغُرُورٌarrogance.
And if it calls to idleness and indulgence in sins, then it is arrogance.
وَحَسَنُAnd goodالظَّنِّopinionهُوَisالْرَّجَاءُhope.
And good opinion is hope.
فَمَنSo whoeverكَانَwasرَجَاؤُهُhis hopeحَادِيًاa guideلَهُfor himعَلَىtowardsالطَّاعَةِobedience،,زَاجِرًاand detersلَهُhimعَنْfromالمَعْصِيَةِsinفَهُوَthen it isرَجَاءٌa correct hope.
So whoever's hope is a guide for him towards obedience, and deters him from sin, then it is a correct hope.
وَمَنAnd whoeverكَانَتْwasبَطَالَتُهُhis idlenessرَجَاءًhope،,وَرَجَاؤُهُand his hopeبَطَالَةٌis idlenessوَتَفْرِيطًاand negligence،,فَهُوَthen he isالْمَغْرُورُthe deceived.
And whoever's idleness is hope, and his hope is idleness and negligence, then he is the deceived.
وَلَوْAnd ifأَنَّthatرَجُلًاa manلَهُhasأَرْضٌa landيُؤَمِّلُhopesأَنْthatيَعُودَit returnsعَلَيْهِto himمِنْfromمُغَلِّهَاits yieldمَاwhatيَنْفَعُهُbenefits himفَأَهْمَلَهَاand neglects it،,وَلَمْand does notيَبْذُرْهَاsow itوَلَمْand does notيَحْرُثْهَاplow itوَأَحْسَنَand thinks wellظَنَّهُof his opinionبِأَنَّهَاthat itيَأْتِيwill comeمِنْfromمُغَلِّهَاits yieldمَاwhatيَأْتِيcomesمِنْfromمَنْthose whoحَرَثُواplowed،,وَبَذَرُواand sowed،,وَسَقَوْاand watered،,وَتَعَاهَدُواand took care ofالْأَرْضَthe land،,لَعَدَّهُthen people would consider himالنَّاسُthe peopleمِنْofأَسْفَهِthe foolishالسُّفَهَاءِfools.
And if a man has a land where he hopes that its yield will benefit him, but he neglects it, does not sow it and does not plow it, and thinks well of his opinion that it will yield as it does for those who have plowed, sown, watered, and taken care of the land, then people would consider him one of the foolish fools.
وَكَذَلِكَAnd similarlyلَوْifحَسَنَgoodظَنَّهُopinionوَقَوَّىand strengthenedرَجَاءَهُhis hopeبِأَنْthatيَجِيئَهُit comes to himوَلَدٌa childمِنْfromغَيْرِwithoutجِمَاعٍintercourse،,أَوْorيَصِيرَbecomesأَعْلَمَthe most knowledgeableأَهْلًاpeopleزَمَانِهِof his timeمِنْfromغَيْرِwithoutطَلَبٍseekingلِلْعِلْمِknowledgeوَحَصٍّand a complete effortتَامٍّ عَلَيْهِon it،,وَأَمْثَالُand similarذَلِكَthat.
And similarly, if he has a good opinion and strengthens his hope that a child will come to him without intercourse, or that he becomes the most knowledgeable of the people of his time without seeking knowledge and complete effort on it, and similar.
