قَتَلَkilledشَهِيدًاa martyr
He was killed as a martyr.
وَقَالَAnd saidالإِمَامُthe ImamأَحْمَدُAhmad
And Imam Ahmad said.
حَدَّثَنَاHe reported to usأَبُوAbuمُعَاوِيَةَMuawiya
Abu Muawiya reported to us.
حَدَّثَنَاHe reported to usالأَعْمَشُAl-A'mash,,عَنْfromسُلَيْمَانَSuleimanابْنَson ofمَيْسَرَةَMaysaraعَنْfromطَارِقَTariqابْنَson ofشِهَابَShihabيَرْفَعُهُhe attributes itقَالَHe said:
He reported to us from Al-A'mash, from Suleiman son of Maysara, from Tariq son of Shihab, attributing it to him, who said:
دَخَلَEnteredرَجُلٌa manالْجَنَّةَthe paradiseفِيinذُبَابٍa flyوَدَخَلَand enteredالنَّارَthe fireرَجُلٌa manفِيinذُبَابٍa fly
A man entered paradise with a fly, and a man entered the fire with a fly.
قَالُواThey said:وَكَيْفَAnd howذَلِكَis thatيَاOرَسُولَMessengerاللَّهِ؟of Allah?
They said: "And how is that, O Messenger of Allah?"
قَالَHe said:مَرَّTwo passedرَجُلَانِmenعَلَىbyقَوْمٍa peopleلَهُمwho haveصَنَمٍa statueلَاnotيُجَاوِزُهُallowed to passأَحَدٌanyoneحَتَّىuntilيُقَرِّبَhe offersلَهُto itشَيْئًاsomething.
He said: "Two men passed by a people who had a statue which no one was allowed to approach until he offered something to it."
فَقَالُواSo they said to one of them:لِأَحَدِهِمَاto one of them.::قَرِّبْOffer.فَقَالَHe said:لَيْسَI doعِنْدِيnot haveشَيْءٌanything.
So they said to one of them: "Offer something." He said: "I do not have anything."
قَالُواThey said to him:لَهُ(to him)::قَرِّبْOfferوَلَوْeven ifذُبَابًاit is a fly.
They said to him: "Offer something, even if it is a fly."
فَقَرَّبَSo he offeredذُبَابًاa fly.فَخَلُّواSo they releasedسَبِيلَهُhis way.فَدَخَلَSo he enteredالنَّارَthe fire.
So he offered a fly, and they released him, and he entered the fire.
وَقَالُواAnd they said to the other:قَرِّبْOffer.فَقَالَHe said:مَاI would notكُنتُI everلَأُقَرِّبَofferلِأَحَدٍto anyoneشَيْئًاanythingدُونَwithoutاللَّهِAllahعَزَّthe Almightyوَجَلَّand Exalted.
And they said to the other: "Offer something." He said: "I would never offer anything to anyone besides Allah the Almighty and Exalted.
فَضَرَبُواSo they struckعُنُقَهُhis neck.فَدَخَلَSo he enteredالْجَنَّةَthe paradise.
So they struck his neck, and he entered paradise.
::وَهَذِهِAnd thisالكَلِمَةُwordالْواحِدَةُoneيُتَكَلَّمُthat is spokenبِهَاwith itالْعَبْدُthe servantيَهْوِيfallsبِهَاby itفِيintoالنَّارِthe fireأَبْعَدَfartherمَاthanبَيْنَbetweenالْمَشْرِقِthe eastوَالْمَغْرِبِand the west.
And this one word that is spoken by the servant causes him to fall into the fire farther than what is between the east and the west.
يُشِيرُRefersإِلَىtoالْحَدِيثِthe hadithالَّذِيthatأَخْرَجَهُwas reportedالْبُخَارِيُّby Al-Bukhariفِيinالْمَغَازِيthe battles,بَابِChapterغَزْوَةِof the battleخَيْبَرَof Khaybar(٤٢٣٤)(4234),,وَمُسْلِمٌand MuslimفِيinالإِيمَانِfaithبَابِChapterغِلَظِthe severityتَحْرِيمِof the prohibitionالْغَلُولِof theft.(١١٥)(115)مِنْfromحَدِيثِthe hadithأَبِيof AbuهُرَيْرَةَHuraira.رَضِيَMay Allah be pleasedاللَّهُwith him.عَنْهُabout him.
It refers to the hadith reported by Al-Bukhari in the battles, Chapter of the Battle of Khaybar (4234), and by Muslim in the faith, Chapter of the Severity of the Prohibition of Theft (115) from the hadith of Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him.
فِيInالزُّهْدِthe asceticism(٨٤)(84).وَأَخْرَجَهُAnd it was reportedأَبُوby AbuنُعَيْمٌNu'aymفِيinالْحِلَايَةِthe adornment((٢٠٣/١)((203/1)مِنْfromطَرِيقِthe way ofالأَعْمَشِAl-A'mashعَنْfromسُلَيْمَانَSuleimanابْنِson ofمَيْسَرَةَMaysaraعَنْfromطَارِقٍTariqابْنِson ofشِهَابٍShihabعَنْfromسَلْمَانٍSulaimanفَذَكَرَهُhe mentioned it.
In the asceticism (84). And it was reported by Abu Nu'aym in the adornment ((203/1) from the way of Al-A'mash from Suleiman son of Maysara from Tariq son of Shihab from Salman, and he mentioned it.
قَالَHe said:أَبُوAbuنُعَيْمٌNu'aymوَرَوَاهُand narrated itشُعْبَةُShu'bahعَنْfromقَيْسٍQaisابْنِson ofمُسْلِمٍMuslimعَنْfromطَارِقٍTariqمِثْلَهُsimilar to it.
Abu Nu'aym said and narrated it from Shu'bah from Qais son of Muslim from Tariq similar to it.
وَرَوَاهُAnd narrated itجَرِيرٌJarirعَنْfromمَنْصُورٍMansurعَنْfromالْمُهَلَّلِAl-Muhallalابْنِson ofعَمْرٍAmrعَنْfromحَيَّانَHayyanابْنِson ofمَرْثَدٍMarthadعَنْfromسَلْمَانٍSalmanنَحْوَهُsimilar to it.
And narrated it from Jarir from Mansur from Al-Muhallal son of Amr from Hayyan son of Marthad from Salman similar to it.
وَسَندُهُAnd its chainصَحِيحٌis authentic.
And its chain is authentic.

(Questions:) He reported to us from Muawiya, which is incorrect.
س،(Questions,) ف:So:قَالَHe said.
(Questions,) So: He said.
لَهُto him::قَالَHe said.
To him: He said.
يُشِيرُRefersإِلَىtoالْحَدِيثِthe hadithالَّذِيthatأَخْرَجَهُwas reportedالْبُخَارِيُّby Al-Bukhariفِيinالرُّقَاقِthe softening,بَابِChapterحِفْظِof the preservationاللِّسَانِof the tongue.(٦٤٧٧)(6477),,وَمُسْلِمٌand Muslimفِيinالزُّهْدِthe asceticismبَابِChapterالتَّكَلُّمِof speakingبِالْكَلِمَةِwith the word
It refers to the hadith that was reported by Al-Bukhari in the softening, the chapter of the preservation of the tongue (6477) and by Muslim in the asceticism, chapter of speaking with the word.
