لَوْIfلَمْdid notتُرِدْwantنَيْلَto obtainمَاwhatأَرْجُوI hopeوَأَطْلُبَهُand ask for itمِنْfromجُودِthe generosity ofكَفِّكَyour handمَاwhatعَوَّدْتَنِيyou have accustomed meالطَّلَبَto ask for it
If you do not want me to obtain what I hope and ask for from the generosity of your hand, what you have accustomed me to ask for.
فَمَنSo whoeverأُلهِمَis inspiredالدُّعَاءَto prayفَقَدْthen surelyأُرِيدُI wantبِهَitالإِجَابَةَthe answer
So whoever is inspired to pray, then I want it to be answered.
فَإنَّFor indeedاللَّهَAllahسُبْحَانَهُthe Most Highيَقُولُsays:ادْعُونِيCall on MeأَسْتَجِبْI will respondلَكُمْto you
For indeed, Allah the Most High says: 'Call on Me, I will respond to you.'
وَقَالَ:And He said:﴿[وَإِذَاAnd whenسَأَلَكَthey ask youعِبَادِيMy servantsعَنِّيabout Meفَإِنِّيthen indeed, Iقَرِيبٌam nearأُجِيبُI respondدَعْوَةَto the supplication ofالدَّاعِيthe one who callsإِذَاwhenدَعَانِيhe calls Me.﴾]
And He said: 'And when My servants ask you about Me, then indeed, I am near. I respond to the supplication of the one who calls when he calls Me.'
وَفِيAnd inسُنَنِthe Sunanابْنِof IbnمَاجَهَMajah,,مِنْfromحَدِيثِthe narration ofأَبِيAbuهُرَيْرَةَHurairahقَالَ:he said:قَالَThe Messengerرَسُولُof Allahﷺ(peace be upon him):مَنْWhoeverلَمْdoes notيَسْأَلِaskاللَّهَAllahيَغْضَبْ عَلَيْهِ.is angry at him.(۲))
And in the Sunan of Ibn Majah from the narration of Abu Hurairah, he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever does not ask Allah, Allah is angry at him.'
وَذَٰلِكَAnd thisيَدُلُّindicatesعَلَىٰthatأَنَّtheرِضَاهُpleasureفِيis inسُؤَالِهِasking Himوَطَاعَتِهِ.and obeying Him.
And this indicates that His pleasure is in asking Him and obeying Him.
وَإِذَاAnd ifرَضِيَthe Lordالرَّبُّpleasesتَبَارَكَblessedوَتَعَالَىand exaltedفَكُلُّthen everyخَيْرٍgoodفِيis inرِضَاهُ،His pleasure,كَمَاasأَنَّthatكُلَّeveryبَلَاءٍafflictionوَمُصِيبَةٍand calamityفِيis inغَضَبِهِ.His anger.
And if the Lord, Blessed and Exalted, is pleased, then every good is in His pleasure, as every affliction and calamity is in His anger.
وَقَدْAnd indeedذَكَرَthe ImamالإِمَامُAhmadفِيinكِتَابِthe Book ofالزُّهْدِAsceticism(٤)(4)أَثَرًاan effect:«أَنَا'I amاللَّهُAllah,لَاthere is noإِلَٰهَdeityإِلَّاexceptأَنَا،I am.إِذَاIfرَضِيتُI am pleasedبَارَكْتُ،I bless,وَلَيْسَand there is noلِبَرَكَتِيfor my blessingمُنْتَهًىlimit.(٦))وَإِذَاAnd ifغَضِبْتُI get angry,لَعَنْتُ،I curse,وَandلَعْنَتِيmy curseتَبْلُغُreachesالسَّابِعَthe seventhمِنَofالْوَلَدِthe offspring.
And indeed, Imam Ahmad mentioned in the Book of Asceticism an effect: 'I am Allah, there is no deity except I. If I am pleased, I bless, and there is no limit to My blessing. If I get angry, I curse, and My curse reaches the seventh generation of offspring.'
وَقَدْAnd indeedدَلَّreason,الْعَقْلُthe intellectوَالنَّقْلُand the transmissionوَالْفِطْرَةُand the innate natureوَتَجَارِبُand the experiencesالْأُمَمِof nationsـ-عَلَىaboutاخْتِلَافِthe differencesأَجْنَاسِهَاamong its typesوَمِلَلِهَاand sectsوَنِحَلِهَاand beliefs -عَلَىonأَنَّthatالتَّقَرُّبَdrawing nearإِلَىtoرَبِّthe Lordالْعَالَمِينَof the worldsوَطَلَبَand seekingمَرْضَاتِهِHis pleasureوَالْبِرِّand righteousnessوَالإِحْسَانِand benevolenceإِلَىtoخَلْقِهِHis creaturesمِنْofأَعْظَمِthe greatestالأَسْبَابِcausesالْجَالِبَةِof bringingلِكُلِّto all.
And indeed, reason, transmission, innate nature, and the experiences of nations - with all their differences in types, sects, and beliefs - indicate that drawing near to the Lord of the worlds and seeking His pleasure, righteousness, and benevolence towards His creatures is one of the greatest causes for bringing forth all.
