وَدُخولُand entryالنَّارِthe Fireبِالأعمالِby deeds
And entry into the Fire is by deeds.
وهَذاAnd thisالقِسمُsectionهُوَisالحَقُّthe truth،,وَهُوَand it isالَّذِيthat whichحُرِمَهُwas deprived ofالسَّائِلُthe questionerوَلَمْand did notيُوَفَّقْsucceedلَهُto it..
And this section is the truth, and it is that which the questioner was deprived of and did not succeed in.
وَحِينَئِذٍAnd thenفَالْدعاءُthe supplicationمِنْis one ofأَقْوَىthe strongestالأَسْبابِcausesب. . فَإِذاIfقُدِرَit is decreedوُقوعُthe occurrenceالمَمْدُوعِof what is invokedبِهِby a supplicationبِالدُّعاءِin the supplicationلَمْit does notيَصِحَّbe correctأَنْto sayلَاthere is noفائِدَةٌbenefitفِيinالدُّعاءِthe supplication،,كَمَاjust asلَاthere is noيُقالُit is said،,لَاthere is noفائِدَةٌbenefitفِيinالأَكْلِeatingوَالشَّرْبِand drinkingوَجَمِيعِand allالحَرَكَاتِmovementsوَالأَعْمَالِand deedsوَلَيْسَand there is notشَيْءٌanythingمِنَofالأَسْبابِcausesأَنْفَعَmore beneficialمِنَthanالدُّعاءِthe supplicationوَلَاand notأَبْلَغَmore effectiveفِيinحُصُولِattainingالمَطْلُوبِthe desired... (ر)(r)
And then the supplication is one of the strongest causes. If the occurrence of what is invoked by a supplication is decreed, it does not be correct to say: there is no benefit in the supplication, just as it is not said: there is no benefit in eating, drinking, and all movements and deeds, and there is nothing of the causes more beneficial than the supplication, and none more effective in attaining the desired.
وَلَمَّاAnd whenكَانَwasالصَّحَابَةُthe Companionsرَضِيَmay Allah be pleasedاللَّهُwith Allahعَنْهُمْwith them,,أَعْلَمَthe most knowledgeableالأُمَّةَof the nationبِاللَّهِabout Allahوَرَسُولِهِand His Messenger،,وَأَفْقَهَهُمْand the most knowledgeable among them inفِيhis religionكَانُواthey wereأَقْوَمَmore proficientبِهَذَاin thisالسَّبَبِcauseوَشُرُوطِهِand its conditionsوَآدَابِهِand etiquettesمِنْthanغَيْرِهِمَothers..
And when the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, were the most knowledgeable of the nation about Allah and His Messenger, and the most knowledgeable in His religion, they were more proficient in this cause, its conditions, and etiquettes than others.
وَكَانَAnd UmarعُمَرُUmarبْنِbinالْخَطَّابِAl-Khattabرَضِيَmay Allah be pleasedاللَّهُwith Allahعَنْهُwith him,,يَسْتَنْصِرُsupplicated for supportبِهِwith itعَلَىagainstعَدُوِّهِhis enemy،,وَكَانَand wasأَعْظَمَthe greatestجُنْدِيِّهِof his troops(٤)(4)،,وَكَانَand he used to sayيَقُولُto sayلِلصَّحَابَةِto the companions(٥)(5)لَسْتُمْyou are notتُنصَرُونَsupportedبِكَثْرَةٍby multitude،,وَإِنَّمَاbut ratherتُـنصَرُونَyou are supportedمِنَfromالسَّمَاءِthe heavens(٦)(6)..
And Umar bin Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, used to supplicate for support against his enemy, and he was the greatest of his troops, and he used to say to the companions: You are not supported by multitude, but rather you are supported from the heavens.
وَكَانَAnd he used to sayيَقُولُto say::إنَّنِيIndeed, Iلَاdo notأَحْمِلُcarryهَمَّthe concernالإِجَابَةِof the response،,وَلَكِنَّbutهَمَّthe concernالدُّعَاءِof the supplication.فَإِذاIfأُلْهِمْتَyou are inspiredالدُّعَاءِto supplicateفَإنَّthen indeedالإِجَابَةَthe responseمَعَهَاis with it.(٧)(7)
And he used to say: Indeed, I do not carry the concern of the response, but the concern is the supplication. If you are inspired to supplicate, then indeed the response is with it.
وَأَخَذَAnd the poet tookالشَّاعِرُthe poetهَذَاthis،,فَنَظَمَهُand he composed it،,فَقَالَsaying:(۱)(1)سَقَطَIt fellوَدُخولُand the entryالنَّارِinto the Fireبِالأَعْمَالِby deedsمِنَofزZ
And the poet took this, and he composed it, saying: (1) It fell and the entry into the Fire is by deeds of Z.
