اَلْحَاجَةُThe needإِلَىtoاَلْبَحْثِresearchفِيinاَللُّغَةِlanguageوَالنَّحْوِ:and grammar:
The need to research in language and grammar:
وَلَكِنْAnd butمَاnotمَضَتْpassedتِلْكَthatاَلطَّبَقَةُgenerationاَلْأُولَىfirstمِنَofاَلرَّعِيلِthe vanguardاَلْأَوَّلِfirst
And that first generation of the early vanguard had not passed,
وَدَاخَلَand mixedاَلْعَرَبَthe Arabsاَلْعَجَمُ،the non-Arabs,
and non-Arabs mixed with the Arabs,
وَذَهَبَتْand wentتِلْكَthatاَللُّغَةُlanguageاَلْأَصْلِيَّةُoriginalاَلْأُولَىfirst
and that first original language departed,
وَاسْتَعْصَىand became difficultفَهْمُunderstandingاَلْمَطَالِبِthe demandsوَالْمَعَانِيand meaningsفِيinبَعْضِsomeاَلْمَوَاضِعِ،places,
and understanding the demands and meanings in some places became difficult,
وَمَسَّتِand touchedاَلْحَاجَةُthe needإِلَىtoاَلتَّفْتِيشِinspectingوَالْبَحْثِand researchingفِيinاَللُّغَةِlanguageوَالنَّحْوِ،and grammar,
and the need arose to inspect and research language and grammar,
وَجَرَتِand took placeاَلْمُنَاقَشَاتُthe discussionsوَالْأَسْئِلَةُand questionsوَالْأَجْوِبَةُ،and answers,
and discussions, questions, and answers took place,
وَصُنِّفَتْand were classifiedكُتُبُbooksاَلتَّفْسِيرِ.of exegesis.
and books of exegesis were compiled.
لَزِمَIt became necessaryأَنْtoنَسْتَحْضِرَbring to mind- بِصُورَةٍ- in a mannerإِجْمَالِيَّةٍ -overall -هَذِهِtheseاَلْمَوَاضِعَplacesاَلصَّعْبَةَ،difficult,
It is necessary to bring to mind - in a general way - these difficult places,
وَنُبَيِّنَand clarifyنَمَادِجَهَاtheir modelsوَأَمْثِلَتَهَاand examplesحَتَّىso thatلَاnotيَحْتَاجَone needsعِنْدَuponاَلْخَوْضِdivingفِيهَاinto itإِلَىtoبَيَانِclarificationمَزِيدٍmore
and to clarify their models and examples so that when delving into them, one does not need further explanation
وَلَاand neitherيُضْطَرُّis forcedإِلَىtoاَلْمُبَالَغَةِexaggerationفِيinاَلْكَشْفِuncoveringعَنْهَاitوَشَرْحِهَاand explaining it(عِنْدَ(uponاَلتَّرْجَمَةِtranslationوَالتَّفْسِيرِ)and exegesis)
nor is one forced to exaggerate in uncovering and explaining them (upon translation and exegesis).
[أَسْبَابُ[Reasonsصُعُوبَةِfor the difficultyفَهْمِof understandingاَلْمُرَادِthe intended meaningمِنَfromاَلْكَلَامِ:]the speech:]
[Reasons for the difficulty of understanding the intended meaning of speech:]
- Sometimes it is difficult to reach the understanding of the intended meaning of speech due to the use of a strange word,
and that is treated by transmitting the meaning of the word from the Companions, the Successors, and the rest of the language experts.
- And at other times due to the scarcity of awareness of the abrogating and the abrogated.
- And sometimes due to heedlessness of the causes of revelation.
- And at another time due to the omission of the mudhaf, the described, or other than them.
- And sometimes by replacing a thing, or replacing a letter in place of a letter,
