غَرَضُThe purpose ofالْقِصَّةِthe storyفِيinالْقُرْآنِ:the Quran:
The purpose of the story in the Quran:
وَلَيْسَAnd it is notالْغَرَضُthe purposeمِنْfromسَرْدِnarratingهَذِهِtheseالْقِصَصِstories
And the purpose of narrating these stories is not
فِيinالْقُرْآنِthe QuranالْكَرِيمِNobleالْاطِّلَاعُmerely knowingعَلَيْهَاthem
in the Noble Quran merely to know them
وَالتَّعَرُّفُand becoming acquaintedعَلَىwithجُزْئِيَّاتِهَاtheir detailsفَحَسْبُ،only,
and become acquainted with their details only,
بَلْratherالْغَرَضُthe purposeالْأَسَاسِيُّfundamentalوَالْحَقِيقِيُّand true
rather the fundamental and true purpose
هُوَisأَنْthatيُنْقَلَbe transferredذِهْنُthe mind ofالْقَارِئِthe readerوَالسَّامِعِand the listener
is that the mind of the reader and listener be transferred
إِلَىtoشَنَاعَةِthe hideousness ofالشِّرْكِpolytheismوَالْمَعَاصِي،and sins,
to the hideousness of polytheism and sins,
وَمُعَاقَبَةِand the punishment ofاللَّهِAllah- تَعَالَى -- the Most High -عَلَيْهَا،for them,
and Allah - the Most High - punishing for them,
وَالْإِيمَانِand believing inبِنَصْرِthe victory ofاللَّهِAllah- تَعَالَى -- the Most High -وَتَأْيِيدِهِ،and His support,
and believing in the victory of Allah - the Most High - and His support,
وَظُهُورِand the appearance ofأَلْطَافِهِHis kindnessوَأَفْضَالِهِand His favorsفِيregardingحَقِّthe right ofعِبَادِهِHis servantsالْمُخْلِصِينَ.the sincere.
and the appearance of His kindness and favors regarding His sincere servants.
التَّذْكِيرُThe reminder ofبِالْمَوْتِdeathوَمَاand whatبَعْدَهُis after itأَوْorالتَّذْكِيرُthe reminder ofبِالْآخِرَةِ:the Hereafter:
The reminder of death and what is after it or the reminder of the Hereafter:
وَالْمُرَادُAnd what is meantبِالتَّذْكِيرِby the reminderبِالْمَوْتِof deathوَمَاand whatبَعْدَهُis after it
And what is meant by the reminder of death and what is after it
أَوْorالتَّذْكِيرُthe reminderبِالْآخِرَةِof the Hereafterعَرْضُis presentingحَالِthe condition ofالْإِنْسَانِmanلَدَىatمَوْتِهِ،his death,
or the reminder of the Hereafter is presenting the condition of man at his death,
وَعَجْزِهِand his helplessnessوَاسْتِكَانَتِهِand his submissivenessفِيinتِلْكَthatالسَّاعَةِhourالْحَرِجَةِcriticalالْعَصِيبَةِ،and distressing,
and his helplessness and submissiveness in that critical and distressing hour,
وَعَرْضُand presentingالْجَنَّةِParadiseوَالنَّارِand Hellعَلَيْهِto himبَعْدَafterالْمَوْتِdeath
and presenting Paradise and Hell to him after death
وَظُهُورُand the appearance ofمَلَائِكَةِthe angels ofالْعَذَابِpunishmentلِعَيْنَيْهِ،to his eyes,
and the appearance of the angels of punishment to his eyes,
وَأَشْرَاطِand the signs ofالْقِيَامَةِthe Resurrectionمِنْfromنُزُولِthe descent ofسَيِّدِنَاour masterعِيسَىJesus
and the signs of the Resurrection from the descent of our master Jesus
وَنَفْخَةِand the blast ofالْقِيَامِrisingوَالنَّشْرِand resurrectionوَالْحَشْرِ،and gathering,
and the blast of rising, resurrection, and gathering,
وَالسُّؤَالِand the questioningوَالْجَوَابِand answeringوَالْمِيزَانِand the scaleوَالصِّرَاطِ،and the bridge,
and the questioning, answering, scale, and bridge,
وَأَخْذِand takingصَحَائِفِthe records ofالْأَعْمَالِdeedsبِالْأَيْمَانِby the right handsوَالشَّمَائِلِ،and left hands,
and taking the records of deeds by the right hands and left hands,
وَدُخُولِand the entry ofالْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersالْجَنَّةَinto Paradiseوَحَشْرِand the gathering ofالْكُفَّارِthe disbelieversفِيintoالنَّارِ،Hell,
and the entry of the believers into Paradise and the gathering of the disbelievers into Hell,
وَتَخَاصُمِand the mutual dispute ofأَهْلِthe people ofالنَّارِHellتَابِعِيهِمْtheir followersوَمَتْبُوعِيهِمْ،and their leaders,
and the mutual dispute of the people of Hell, their followers and leaders,
وَسَادَتِهِمْand their mastersوَكُبَرَائِهِمْ،and their great ones,وَعَامَّتِهِمْand their common folkوَضُعَفَائِهِمْand their weak onesفِيمَاamongبَيْنَهُمْ،themselves,
and their masters, great ones, common folk, and weak ones among themselves,
وَإِنْكَارِand the denial ofبَعْضِهِمْsome of themبَعْضاً،to others,وَلَعْنِand the cursing ofأَحَدِهِمْone of themالْأُخْرَى،of the other,
and the denial of some of them to others, and the cursing of one of them of the other,
وَاخْتِصَاصِand the specification ofالْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersبِرُؤْيَةِwith seeingاللَّهِAllah- تَعَالَى -- the Most High -
and the specification of the believers with seeing Allah - the Most High -
وَذِكْرِand the mention ofأَنْوَاعِtypes ofالْعَذَابِpunishmentوَتَعْدَادِand the enumeration ofأَلْوَانِهِits colorsوَأَطْوَارِهِand its stages
and the mention of the types of punishment and the enumeration of its colors and stages
مِنْfromسَلَاسِلَchainsوَأَغْلَالٍand shacklesوَحَمِيمٍand boiling waterوَغَسَّاقٍand purulenceوَضَرِيعٍand thorny plantsوَزَقُّومٍ،and Zaqqum,
from chains, shackles, boiling water, purulence, thorny plants, and Zaqqum,
وَبَيَانِand the explanation ofأَنْوَاعِtypes ofالنِّعَمِblessingsوَالْمَلَذَّاتِand pleasuresمِنْfromحُورٍhourisوَقُصُورٍand palaces
and the explanation of the types of blessings and pleasures from houris and palaces
