فِيInآيَاتِthe versesالْإِنْجِيلِof the Gospel

In the verses of the Gospel regarding Jesus - peace be upon him -

بِالنِّسْبَةِwith respectلِعِيسَىto Jesus- عَلَيْهِ- upon himالسَّلَامُ -peace -

with respect to Jesus - peace be upon him -

إِذَاifسَلَّمْنَاwe concedeأَنَّthatمَاwhatنُقِلَwas transmittedفِيinالْإِنْجِيلِthe Gospelمِنْofمِثْلِlikeهَذِهِtheseالْآيَاتِverses

if we concede that what is transmitted in the Gospel of such verses

هِيَisمِنْfromكَلَامِthe speechعِيسَىof Jesus- عَلَيْهِ- upon himالسَّلَامُ -peace -

is from the speech of Jesus - peace be upon him -

لَاnotمِنَfromالْإِضَافَاتِthe additionsوَالْإِلْحَاقَاتِ -and interpolations -

not from additions and interpolations -

أَنَّthatلَفْظَthe term"الِابْنِ""the Son"فِيinالْعَهْدِthe OldالْقَدِيمِTestament

that the term "the Son" in the Old Testament

كَانَwasيُسْتَعْمَلُusedبِمَعْنَىin the meaning ofالْمُقَرَّبِthe one brought nearوَالْمَحْبُوبِand the belovedوَالْمُخْتَارِ،and the chosen,

was used in the sense of the one brought near, beloved, and chosen,

وَتَشْهَدُand testifyعَلَىtoهَذِهِthisالدَّعْوَىclaimدَلَائِلُevidencesوَقَرَائِنُand indicationsكَثِيرَةٌmanyفِيinالْإِنْجِيلِ.the Gospel.

and many evidences and indications in the Gospel testify to this claim.

جَوَابُAnswerالْإِشْكَالِto the secondالثَّانِي:objection:

Answer to the second objection:

وَجَوَابُAnd the answerالْإِشْكَالِto the objectionالثَّانِيsecond

And the answer to the second objection

- وَهُوَ- and it isنِسْبَةُthe attributionسَيِّدِنَاof our masterعِيسَىJesus- عَلَيْهِ- upon himالسَّلَامُ -peace -

- which is the attribution by our master Jesus - peace be upon him -

بَعْضَsomeأَفْعَالِof the actionsاللَّهِof God- تَعَالَى- the Most Highإِلَىtoنَفْسِهِ -himself -

of some of the actions of God - the Most High - to himself -

إِذَاifسَلَّمْنَاwe concedeصِحَّتَهَاtheir correctnessوَثُبُوتَand the establishmentنَقْلِهَاof their transmissionعَنْهُ -from him -

if we concede their correctness and the establishment of their transmission from him -

أَنَّهَاis that theyعَلَىare inطَرِيقِthe mannerالْحِكَايَةِ،of narration,

is that they are in the manner of narration,

مِثْلُlikeأَنْthatيَحْكِيَnarratesرَسُولُthe messengerالْمَلِكِof the kingعَنْهُon his behalfفَيَقُولَ:and says:

just as the messenger of a king narrates on his behalf and says:

فَتَحْنَا"We openedالْبَلَدَthe cityالْفُلَانِيَّ،such and such,

" We opened such and such city,

وَحَكَمْنَاand we ruledالْقَلْعَةَthe fortressالْفُلَانِيَّةَ،such and such,"

and we ruled such and such fortress,"

فَظَاهِرٌso it is obviousأَنَّthatهَذَاthisالرَّسُولَmessengerلَيْسَis notإِلَّاexceptتَرْجُمَانًاan interpreterلِلْمَلِكِfor the kingوَمُبَلِّغًاand a conveyorعَنْهُ،on his behalf,

so it is obvious that this messenger is nothing but an interpreter for the king and a conveyor on his behalf,

وَحَقِيقَةُand the realityالْفِعْلِof the actionرَاجِعَةٌreturnsإِلَىtoنَفْسِهِ.himself.

while the reality of the action belongs to himself.

نَوْعٌA typeخَاصٌّspecialمِنَofالْوَحْيِ:revelation:

A special type of revelation:

وَيُمْكِنُAnd it is possibleأَنَّthatالْوَحْيَthe revelationإِلَىtoعِيسَىJesus- عَلَيْهِ- upon himالسَّلَامُ -peace -

And it is possible that the revelation to Jesus - peace be upon him -

عَنْwas by way ofطَرِيقِthe path ofانْطِبَاعِthe impressionالْمَعَانِيof meaningsفِيinلَوْحِthe tabletقَلْبِهِof his heart

was by way of the impression of meanings upon the tablet of his heart

مِنْfromقِبَلِthe side ofالْمَلَإِthe exaltedالْأَعْلَى،assembly,

from the side of the exalted assembly,

لَاnotتَمَثُّلِby the embodiment ofجِبْرِيلَGabriel- عَلَيْهِ- upon himالسَّلَامُ -peace -

not through the embodiment of Gabriel - peace be upon him -

بِصُورَةِin the form ofالْبَشَرِhumansوَإِلْقَاءِand the castingالْوَحْيِof revelationإِلَيْهِ،to him,

in human form and casting the revelation to him,

فَبِسَبَبِso because ofهَذَاthisالِانْطِبَاعِdirectالْمُبَاشِرِimpression

so because of this direct impression

جَرَىthere flowedمِنْهُfrom himمِنَofالْكَلَامِspeechمَاthat whichأَشْعَرَimpliedبِنِسْبَةِthe attributionالْأَفْعَالِof actionsإِلَيْهِ،to him,

there flowed from him speech which implied the attribution of actions to him,

مَعَeven thoughأَنَّthatالْحَقِيقَةَthe realityغَيْرُother thanذَلِكَ،that,

even though the reality is other than that,

وَالْأَمْرُand the matterوَاضِحٌ.is clear.

and the matter is clear.

وَبِالْجُمْلَةِAnd in summaryفَإِنَّindeedاللَّهَGod- تَعَالَى -- the Most High -رَدَّrefutedعَلَىtheseهَذِهِinvalidالْمَسَالِكِapproaches,الْبَاطِلَةِ،false

And in summary, God - the Most High - refuted these false and invalid approaches,
