Al-Asma'i said: A man from the Bedouins narrated to me, saying: "I went out from the tribe seeking the most undutiful person and the most dutiful person among people.

فَكُنْتُSo I keptأَطُوفُgoing aroundبِالْأَحْيَاءِthe tribesحَتَّىuntilانْتَهَيْتُI reachedإِلَىan old manشَيْخٍin whose neckفِيwas a ropeعُنُقِهِdrawing waterحَبْلٌwith a bucketيَسْتَقِيthat the camelsبِدَلْوٍcould not bearلَاin the midday heatتُطِيقُهُand severe heatالْإِبِلُand behind himفِيwas a young manالْهَاجِرَةِin whose handوَالْحَرِّwas a reinالشَّدِيدِof twisted leatherوَخَلْفَهُhitting him with itشَابٌّhaving splitفِيhis backيَدِهِwith thatرِشَاءٌrope.مِنْ...قِدٍّ...مُلَوًّى...يَضْرِبُهُ...بِهِ...قَدْ...شَقَّ...ظَهْرَهُ...بِذَلِكَ...الْحَبْلِ....

So I kept going around the tribes until I reached an old man with a rope around his neck, drawing water with a bucket that the camels could not bear in the midday heat and severe heat, and behind him was a young man in whose hand was a twisted leather rein, beating him with it, and that rope had split his back.

فَقُلْتُ:So I said:"أَمَا"Do you notتَتَّقِيfearاللَّهَAllahفِيregardingهَذَاthisالشَّيْخِweakالضَّعِيفِ؟old man?"

He said: "Despite this, he is my father."

قُلْتُ:I said:فَلَا"May Allahجَزَاكَnot reward youاللَّهُwellخَيْراً!with good!"

Then I wandered further until I reached a young man carrying a basket around his neck containing an old man resembling a chick, and he would place him before himself every hour and feed him just as a chick is fed.

فَقُلْتُSo I saidلَهُ:to him:مَا"What isهَذَا؟this?"
