of the trenchCursed be the companions of the trench,
الْمَعْنَى
the meaningأَنَّ
is thatالْمُجَازَاةَ
the recompenseعَلَى
forالْأَعْمَالِ
the deedsحَقٌّ
is trueThe meaning is that recompense for deeds is a truth.
إِذَا
whenالسَّمَاءُ
the skyانْشَقَّتْ
splits apartWhen the sky splits apart,
وَ
andأَذِنَتْ
it listensلِ
toرَبِّ
its Lordهَا
andوَ
andحُقَّتْ
it is obligatedAnd obeys its Lord, as it is obliged to do,
وَ
andإِذَا
whenالْأَرْضُ
the earthمُدَّتْ
is spread outAnd when the earth is extended,
وَ
andأَلْقَتْ
it casts outمَا
whatفِيهَا
is within itوَ
andتَخَلَّتْ
becomes emptyAnd casts out what is within it and becomes empty,
وَ
andأَذِنَتْ
it listensلِ
toرَبِّ
its Lordهَا
andوَ
andحُقَّتْ
it is obligatedAnd obeys its Lord, as it is obliged to do,
يَا
Oأَيُّهَا
youالْإِنْسَانُ
mankindإِنَّكَ
indeed youكَادِحٌ
are toilingO mankind, indeed you are toiling toward your Lord...
الْآيَةُ
the versethe verse.
الْمَعْنَى
the meaningأَنَّ
is thatالْحِسَابَ
the accountوَ
andالْجَزَاءَ
recompenseكَائِنٌ
are bound to happenThe meaning is that the reckoning and recompense are certain to occur.
