١٧17-ُ-آيَةُThe verseالْأَمْرِof the commandلِلْعَبْدِfor the slavesوَالْخَدَمِand servantsبِالِاسْتِئْذَانِconcerning seeking permission
17 - The verse of the command for slaves and servants concerning seeking permission:
وَقَوْلُهُAnd His statement-ُ-تَعَالَىthe Most High-َ-
And His statement - the Most High -:
{لِيَسْتَأْذِنْكُمُ{\"Let them seek permission from youالَّذِينَthose whoمَلَكَتْpossessأَيْمَانُكُمْ}your right hands\}
{\"Let those whom your right hands possess seek permission from you\}
الْآيَةُThe verseمَنْسُوخَةٌis abrogated
The verse is abrogated,
وَقِيلَand it was saidلَاnoوَلَكِنْbutتَهَاوَنَpeople became negligentالنَّاسُpeopleفِيinالْعَمَلِactingبِهَاupon it
and it was said: No, but people were negligent in acting upon it.
قُلْتُI sayمَذْهَبُthe school of thought ofابْنِIbnعَبَّاسٍAbbas-َ-رَضِيَmay Allah be pleasedاللَّهُwithعَنْهُمَاthem both-ُ-
I say: The school of thought of Ibn Abbas - may Allah be pleased with them both -
أَنَّهَاis that itلَيْسَتْis notبِمَنْسُوخَةٍabrogatedوَهَذَاand thisأَوْجَهُis more apparentوَأَوْلَىand more worthyبِالِاعْتِمَادِof reliance
is that it is not abrogated, and this is more apparent and more worthy of reliance.
١٨18-ُ-وَمِنَAnd fromالْأَحْزَابِSurah Al-Ahzabآيَةُis the verse ofعَدَمِthe non-حِلِّlawfulness ofالنِّسَاءِwomenلِلنَّبِيِّfor the Prophet-َ-صَلَّىmay Allah send blessingsاللَّهُand peaceعَلَيْهِupon himوَسَلَّمَand grant him peaceبَعْدَafterأَزْوَاجِهِhis wives
18 - And from Surah Al-Ahzab is the verse of the non-lawfulness of women for the Prophet - may Allah bless him and grant him peace - after his wives:
قَوْلُهُHis statement-ُ-تَعَالَىthe Most High-َ-{لَا{\"It is notيَحِلُّlawfulلَكَfor youالنِّسَاءُthe womenمِنْfromبَعْدُ}henceforth\}
His statement - the Most High - {\"It is not lawful for you to take [other] women after this\}
الْآيَةُThe verseمَنْسُوخَةٌis abrogatedبِقَوْلِهِby His statement-َ-تَعَالَىthe Most High-َ-{إِنَّا{\"Indeed, Weأَحْلَلْنَاhave made lawfulلَكَfor youأَزْوَاجَكَyour wivesاللَّاتِيthose whomآتَيْتَyou have givenأُجُورَهُنَّ}their due compensation\}الْآيَةُthe verse
The verse is abrogated by His statement - the Most High - {\"Indeed, We have made lawful for you your wives to whom you have given their due compensation\} the verse.
قُلْتُI sayيَحْتَمِلُit is possibleأَنْthatيَكُونَthe abregatorالنَّاسِخُ(nasikh)مُقَدَّماًbe placed earlierفِيinالتِّلَاوَةِrecitationوَهُوَand itالْأَظْهَرُis the most apparentعِنْدِيin my view
I say: It is possible that the abrogating verse is placed earlier in the recitation, and this is the most apparent view in my opinion.
١٩19-ُ-وَمِنَAnd fromالْمُجَادَلَةِSurah Al-Mujadilaآيَةُis the verse ofالْأَمْرِthe commandبِإِيتَاءِto giveالصَّدَقَةِcharityعِنْدَuponمُنَاجَاةِprivate consultation withالرَّسُولِthe Messenger-َ-صَلَّىmay Allah send blessingsاللَّهُand peaceعَلَيْهِupon himوَسَلَّمَand grant him peace
19 - And from Surah Al-Mujadila: The verse of the command to give charity before privately consulting the Messenger - may Allah bless him and grant him peace -:
قَوْلُهُHis statement-ُ-تَعَالَىthe Most High-َ-{إِذَا{\"Whenنَاجَيْتُمُyou privately consultالرَّسُولَthe Messengerفَقَدِّمُوا}then present\}الْآيَةُThe verseمَنْسُوخَةٌis abrogatedبِالْآيَةِby the verseبَعْدَهَاafter it
His statement - the Most High - {\"When you privately consult the Messenger, then present...\} The verse is abrogated by the verse after it.
