وَهَكَذَاAnd thusاتَّسَعَwidenedبَابُthe doorالنَّسْخِof abrogationعِنْدَهُمْwith themوَتَوَسَّعُواand they expandedفِيinمَوْضُوعِهِ،its subject,وَكَانَand wasلِلْعَقْلِfor the intellectفِيهِin itمَجَالٌa scopeفَسِيحٌ،vast,وَلِلِاخْتِلَافِand for disagreementفِيهِin itمَكَانٌa placeوَاسِعٌ.wide.
And thus the door of abrogation widened among them and they expanded its subject, and the intellect had a vast scope in it, and disagreement had a wide place in it.
وَلِذَلِكَAnd thereforeبَلَغَتِreachedالْآيَاتُthe versesالْمَنْسُوخَةُabrogatedإِلَىtoخَمْسُمِائَةِfive hundredآيَةٍ،verse,بَلْnay,إِذَاifحَقَّقْتَyou examine closelyالنَّظَرَthe viewتَجِدُهَاyou will find themغَيْرَnotمَحْصُورَةًrestrictedبِعَدَدٍ.by a number.
And therefore the abrogated verses reached five hundred verses, nay, if you examine the view closely you will find them not restricted by a number.
