The second chapter

فِيInمَبْحَثِthe discussionالنَّاسِخِof the abrogatingوَالْمَنْسُوخِand abrogated

In the discussion of the abrogating and the abrogated

مِنَFromالْمَوَاضِعِthe placesالصَّعْبَةِdifficult

Among the difficult places

فِيinعِلْمِthe scienceالتَّفْسِيرِof exegesis

in the science of exegesis

الَّتِيwhichتَكْثُرُare numerousمَبَاحِثُهَا،its discussions,

whose discussions are numerous,

وَيَكْثُرُand is numerousالِاخْتِلَافُthe differenceفِيهَا،in it,

and in which differences are numerous,

مَعْرِفَةُis the knowledgeالنَّاسِخِof the abrogatingوَالْمَنْسُوخِ،and the abrogated,

is knowing the abrogating and the abrogated,

وَمِنْand fromأَقْوَىstrongestوُجُوهِaspectsهَذِهِof thisالصُّعُوبَةِdifficulty

and among the strongest aspects of this difficulty

اخْتِلَافُis the differenceالاصِطِلَاحِin terminologyبَيْنَbetweenالْمُتَقَدِّمِينَthe predecessorsوَالْمُتَأَخِّرِينَand the successorsفِيinهَذَاthisالْبَابِ.chapter.

is the difference in terminology between the predecessors and successors in this chapter.

مَعْنَىMeaningالنَّسْخِof abrogationعِنْدَaccording toالْمُتَقَدِّمِينَ:the predecessors:

The meaning of abrogation according to the predecessors:

وَالَّذِيAnd that whichيَتَضَحُbecomes clearلَنَاto usبِاسْتِقْرَاءِby inductive studyكَلَامِof the speechالصَّحَابَةِof the companionsوَالتَّابِعِينَand the followers

And that which becomes clear to us by inductive study of the speech of the companions and the followers

- رَضِيَ- may be pleasedاللَّهُGodعَنْهُمْwith themأَجْمَعِينَ -all of them -

- may God be pleased with them all -

فِيinهَذَاthisالْمَوْضُوعِsubjectأَنَّهُمْis that theyكَانُواwereيَسْتَعْمِلُونَusing"النَّسْخَ""abrogation"

in this subject is that they were using "abrogation"

بِمَعْنَاهُin its meaningاللُّغَوِيِّlinguisticالْمَعْرُوفِknownالَّذِيwhichهُوَisإِزَالَةُremoval ofشَيْءٍsomethingلَاnotبِمَعْنَىin the meaning ofمُصْطَلَحِthe terminologyالْأُصُولِيِّينَof the legal theoristsالْخَاصِّ.special.

in its known linguistic meaning which is the removal of something, not in the meaning of the special terminology of the legal theorists.

  • - فَمَعْنَى- So the meaning"النَّسْخِ"of "abrogation"عِنْدَهُمْwith themإِزَالَةُis the removal ofبَعْضِsomeالْأَوْصَافِattributesفِيinآيَةٍa verseبِآيَةٍby a verseأُخْرَى،other,
  • - So the meaning of "abrogation" with them is the removal of some attributes in a verse by another verse,

  • سَوَاءٌwhetherكَانَit wasذَلِكَthatبَيَاناًan explanationلِانْتِهَاءِof the expirationمُدَّةِof the periodالْعَمَلِof actionبِآيَةٍby a verseمِنَfromالْآيَاتِthe versesالْكَرِيمَةِ.noble.
  • whether that was an explanation of the expiration of the working period of a verse from the noble verses.

  • - أَوْ- Orصَرْفِdivertingالْكَلَامِthe speechعَنِfromالْمَعْنَىthe meaningالْمُتَبَادَرِobviousإِلَىtoغَيْرِother thanالْمُتَبَادَرِthe obviousأَوْorبَيَانِclarification
  • - Or diverting the speech from the obvious meaning to other than the obvious, or clarification
