by mentioningكُنْهِهَا
their essenceوَحَقَائِقِهَا
and their realitiesوَدَقِيقِ
and subtleمَسَائِلِهَا
issuesمُسْتَحِيلاً
impossibleفِي
regardingحَقِّهِمْ،
them,by mentioning their essence, realities, and subtle issues was impossible regarding them,
وَكَانَ
and and it wasتَرْكُهُمْ
leaving themمِنْ
fromدُونِ
withoutإِطْلَاعٍ
acquaintanceعَلَى
withهَذِهِ
theseالصِّفَاتِ
attributesالْإِلَهِيَّةِ
divineand leaving them without acquaintance with these divine attributes
يَحْرِمُهُمْ
deprives themمِنْ
ofمَعْرِفَةِ
knowingالرُّبوبِيَّةِ
Lordshipdeprives them of knowing Lordship
- الَّتِي
- whichهِيَ
isأَنْفَعُ
the most beneficialوَسِيلَةٍ
meansفِي
inتَهْذِيبِ
refiningالنُّفُوسِ
soulsالْبَشَرِيَّةِ -
human -- which is the most beneficial means in refining human souls -
كَانَ
it wasحِكْمَةُ
the wisdomاللَّهِ
of Allah- تَعَالَى -
- Exalted is He -وَهُوَ
while He isأَحْكَمُ
the most judiciousالْحَاكِمِينَ -
of judges -it was the wisdom of Allah - Exalted is He -, and He is the most judicious of judges,
أَنْ
thatيَخْتَارَ
He choseمِنَ
fromالصِّفَاتِ
attributesالْبَشَرِيَّةِ
humanالَّتِي
whichنَعَهْدُهَا
we knowوَنُشَاهِدُهَا
and witnessto choose from the human attributes that we know and witness
وَالَّتِي
and whichنَتَمَادَحُ
we praise one anotherبِهَا
by themوَنَفْتَخِرُ
and take prideبِالتَّحَلِّي
in adorning ourselvesبِهَا،
with them,and by which we praise one another and take pride in adorning ourselves,
صِفَاتٍ
attributesكَرِيمَةً
nobleعَدِيدَةً
numerousتُسْتَعْمَلُ
usedلِأَدَاءِ
to conveyمَعَانٍ
meaningsغَامِضَةٍ
obscureدَقِيقَةٍ
subtlenumerous noble attributes used to convey obscure, subtle meanings
لَا
that do notتَبْلُغُ
reachجَلَالَهَا
their majestyوَعَظَمَتَهَا
and greatnessعُقُولُ
mindsالْبَشَرِ،
of humans,whose majesty and greatness human minds cannot reach,
ثُمَّ
thenيَجْعَلُ
He makesقَوْلَهُ
His statementالْفَصْلَ:
decisive:then He makes His decisive statement:
{لَيْسَ{There is
كَمِثْلِهِlike unto Him
شَيْءٌ}anything}
{There is nothing like unto Him}
تِرْيَاقاً
as an antidoteلِدَاءِ
for the diseaseالْجَهْلِ
of ignoranceالْعُضَالِ،
incurable,as an antidote for the incurable disease of ignorance,
وَعِلَاجاً
and a remedyلِقِلَّةِ
for lackالْبَصَرِ
of insightوَالْإِدْرَاكِ،
and perception,and a remedy for the lack of insight and perception,
وَنَهَى
and He forbadeعَنْ
fromاسْتِعْمَالِ
usingتِلْكَ
thoseالصِّفَاتِ
attributesالْبَشَرِيَّةِ
humanand He forbade the use of those human attributes
الَّتِي
whichيُخْشَى
are fearedمِنْهَا
fromجُمُوحُ
the runawayالْأَوْهَامِ
of illusionsوَالظَُّنُونِ
and suspicionsfrom which one fears the runaway of illusions and suspicions
نَحْوَ
towardالْعَقَائِدِ
beliefsالْبَاطِلَةِ
falseكَإِثْبَاتِ
like affirmingالْوَلَدِ،
a child,toward false beliefs such as affirming a child,
وَالْبُكَاءِ،
weeping,وَالْجَزَعِ
and panicوَمَا
and whatإِلَى
toذَلِكَ.
that.weeping, panic, and so on.
خَطَرُ
The dangerالْخَوْضِ
of delvingفِي
intoالصِّفَاتِ
the attributesبِدُونِ
withoutتَوْقِيفٍ:

وَإِذَا
And ifأَنْعَمْتَ
you bestowالنَّظَرَ
reflectionوَتَأَمَّلْتَ
and contemplateمَسْأَلَةَ
the issueالصِّفَاتِ
of attributesالْإِلَهِيَّةِ
divineبِدِقَّةٍ
with precisionAnd if you reflect and contemplate the issue of divine attributes precisely
