مَعَانِيmeaningsكِتَابِof the bookاللَّهِof Allah

Meanings of the Book of Allah

- تَعَالَى -،- Exalted is He -,মূলকوَأَنَّهُمْand that theyلَوْifقَضَوْاthey spent

- Exalted is He -, and that if they spent

أَعْمَارَهُمْtheir livesفِيinمُطَالَعَةِstudyingكُتُبِbooksالتَّفْسِيرِ،of exegesis

their lives studying books of exegesis,

أَوْorقِرَاءَتِهَاreading themعَلَىtoالْمُفَسِّرِينَ،the exegetes

or reading them to the exegetes,

لَاnotيَظْفَرُونَthey would attainبِهَذِهِtheseالْقَوَاعِدِrulesوَالْأُصُولِand principles

they would not attain these rules and principles

بِهَذَاwith thisالضَّبْطِprecisionوَالتَّنَاسُقِ.and harmony.

with this precision and harmony.

وَسَمَّيْتُهَاAnd I named it"بِالْفَوْزِ"The Great SuccessالْكَبِيرِGreatفِيinأُصُولِprinciplesالتَّفْسِيرِ"of exegesis"

And I named it "Al-Fawz Al-Kabeer fi Usool Al-Tafseer"

وَمَاAnd notتَوْفِيقِيis my successإِلَّاexceptبِاللَّهِ،by Allah

And my success is not but through Allah,

عَلَيْهِupon Himتَوَكَّلْتُ،I have reliedوَهُوَand Heحَسْبِيis my sufficiencyوَنِعْمَand excellentالْوَكِيلُ.is the Trustee.

upon Him I have relied, and He is my sufficiency and an excellent Disposer of affairs.

وَقَدْAnd indeedجَمَعْتُI have gatheredمَقَاصِدَobjectivesهَذِهِof thisالرِّسَالَةِtreatiseفِيinخَمْسَةِfiveأَبْوَابٍ،chapters

And I have gathered the objectives of this treatise into five chapters,

وَهِيَand theyكَمَاasيَلِي:follows:

and they are as follows:

  • ١1- الْبَابُ- Chapterالْأَوَّلُ:the first:فِيconcerningالْعُلُومِthe sciencesالْخَمْسَةِfive

    • 1 - The First Chapter: Concerning the five sciences

  • الَّتِيwhichيَدُلُّindicateعَلَيْهَاto themالْقُرْآنُthe QuranالْكَرِيمُNobleنَصّاً،explicitly

    • to which the Noble Quran points explicitly,

  • حَتَّىevenوَكَأَنَّas ifالْقُرْآنَthe Quranنَزَلَwas revealedبِالْأَصَالَةِoriginallyلِهَذِهِfor theseالْعُلُومِsciencesالْخَمْسَةِ.five.

    • to the extent that it is as if the Quran was originally revealed for these five sciences.

  • ٢2- الْبَابُ- Chapterالثَّانِي:the second:فِيconcerningوُجُوهِaspectsخَفَاءِof obscurityنَظْمِof the arrangementالْقُرْآنِof the Quran

    • 2 - The Second Chapter: Concerning the aspects of obscurity in the Quran's arrangement

  • بِالْنِّسْبَةِrelativeإِلَىtoأَفْهَامِthe understandingsأَهْلِof the peopleهَذَاof thisالْعَصْرِ،era,

    • relative to the understandings of the people of this era,

  • وَتَجْلِيَتِهَاand clarifying themبِأَوْضَحِwith the clearestبَيَانٍ.explanation.

    • and clarifying them with the clearest explanation.

  • ٣3- الْبَابُ- Chapterالثَّالِثُ:the third:فِيconcerningبَيَانِexplainingلَطَائِفِsubtletiesنَظْمِof arrangementالْقُرْآنِ،of the Quran,

    • 3 - The Third Chapter: In explaining the subtleties of the Quran's arrangement,

  • وَالْأُسْلُوبِand the styleالْقُرْآنِيِّQuranicالْبَدِيعِ.wonderful.

    • and the wonderful Quranic style.

  • ٤4- الْبَابُ- Chapterالرَّابِعُ:the fourth:فِيconcerningمَنَاهِجِmethodologiesالتَّفْسِيرِ،of exegesis,

    • 4 - The Fourth Chapter: Concerning the methodologies of exegesis,

  • وَبَيَانِand explainingأَسْبَابِthe causesالِاخْتِلَافِof differenceوَوُجُوهِهِand its aspectsفِيinتَفْسِيرِexegesisالصَّحَابَةِof the Companionsوَالتَّابِعِينَ.and the Followers.

    • and explaining the causes of difference and its aspects in the exegesis of the Companions and the Followers.

  • ٥5- الْبَابُ- Chapterالْخَامِسُ:the fifth:فِيconcerningبَيَانِexplainingغَرِيبِunfamiliar wordsالْقُرْآنِ،of the Quran,

    • 5 - The Fifth Chapter: In explaining the rare and unfamiliar words of the Quran,

  • وَأَسْبَابِand causesالنُّزُولِof revelationالَّتِيwhichلَاnotبُدَّavoidableمِنْfromحِفْظِهَاmemorizing themلِلْمُفَسِّرِ،for the exegete,

    • and the causes of revelation which the exegete must necessarily memorize,

  • وَيُحْظَرُand it is forbiddenبِدُونِهَاwithout themالْخَوْضُto delveفِيintoالتَّفْسِيرِ.the exegesis.

    • and without them, delving into exegesis is prohibited.
