is valid

لِلْعَمَلِ

for action

إِلَى

until

أَنْ

that

يَأْتِيَ

comes

نَبِيٌّ

a prophet

جَدِيدٌ

new

meaning that it is valid for action until a new prophet comes

وَيَكْشِفَ

and uncovers

السِّتَارَ

the veil

عَنْ

from

رِسَالَةٍ

a message

جَدِيدَةٍ،

new,

and uncovers the veil from a new message,

وَلَكِنَّ

but

الْيَهُودَ

the Jews

حَمَلُوا

interpreted

ذَلِكَ

عَلَى

اسْتِحَالَةِ

impossibility of

النَّسْخِ.

abrogation.

but the Jews interpreted that as the impossibility of abrogation.

وَكَانَتِ

وَالْعَضِّ

عَلَيْهَا

تَعْنِي

التَّمَسُّكَ

بِالْإِيمَانِ

to faith

وَالْأَعْمَالِ

and deeds

الصَّالِحَةِ،

righteous,

And the charge to hold fast to that religious community and bite onto it meant holding fast to faith and righteous deeds,

وَلَا

and no

اعْتِبَارَ

consideration

لِخُصُوصِ

for the specificity of

مِلَّةٍ

a community

مِنَ

from

الْمِلَلِ

the communities

وَلَا

nor

دَخْلَ

entry/part

لَهَا

for it

فِيهَا،

in it,

and there is no consideration for the specificity of any community nor does it have any part in it,

وَلَكِنَّ

but

هَؤُلَاءِ

these people

اعْتَقَدُوا

believed

أَنَّ

that

الْخُصُوصَ

the specificity

مُعْتَبَرٌ،

is considered,

but these people believed that the specificity is considered,

وَأَنَّ

and that

يَعْقُوبَ

Jacob

عَلَيْهِ

upon him

السَّلَامُ

peace

إِنَّمَا

وَصَى

enjoined

بَنِيهِ

his sons

بِالتَّمَسُّكِ

with holding fast

"بِالْيَهُودِيَّةِ".

بِإِحْسَانٍ

with goodness

مِلَّةٍ

community

And among them is that Allah - Blessed and Exalted is He - honored the prophets and those who followed them in goodness in every community

بِوَصْفِهِمْ

by describing them as

مُقَرَّبِينَ،

brought near,

مَحْبُوبِينَ

beloved

مُرْضِينَ،

pleasing,

by describing them as brought near, beloved, pleasing,

وَوَصَفَ

and He described

أَعْدَاءَهُمْ

their enemies

وَالْجَاحِدِينَ

and those who deny

لِمِلَّتِهِمْ

their community

بِالْمَغْضُوبِ

as those who incurred wrath

عَلَيْهِمْ،

upon them,

الْمَلْعُونِينَ

the cursed

وَالْمَمْقُوتِينَ،

and the detested,

and He described their enemies and those who deny their community as those who incurred wrath upon them, the cursed and the detested,

وَجَاءَتْ

and came

هَذِهِ

these
