اَلْقَوَاعِدُ،The rules,
The rules,
بَلْratherقَاعِدَتُهَاtheir ruleانْتِظَارُis the waiting ofعَالَمِthe realm ofالْغَيْبِ،the unseen,
rather their rule is the waiting for the realm of the unseen,
كَمَاjust asيَكُونُit isفِيinحَالَةِthe state ofالِاسْتِخَارَةِ،seeking divine guidance,
just as it is in the state of seeking divine guidance,
حَتَّىuntilيَنْظُرَhe looks atبِأَيِّwhichآيَةٍverseأَوْorاسْمٍname
until he sees by which verse or name
يُشَارُhe is indicatedعَلَيْهِto himمِنْfromعَالَمِthe realm ofالْغَيْبِthe unseen
he is indicated from the realm of the unseen
ثُمَّthenيَتْلُوhe recitesالْآيَةَthe verseأَوْorالْاسْمَthe name
then he recites the verse or the name
عَلَىuponطَرِيقٍa wayمِنَfromالطَّرَائِقِthe waysالْمَعْلُومَةِknownلَدَىwithأَهْلِthe people ofهَذَاthisالْفَنِّ.art.
upon one of the ways known to the people of this art.
هَذَاThisمَاis whatقَصَدْتُI intendedإِرَادَهُto bringفِيinهَذِهِthisالرِّسَالَةِ.treatise.
This is what I intended to present in this treatise.
وَالْحَمْدُAnd praiseلِلَّهِis to Godأَوَّلًاfirstوَآخِرًاand lastوَظَاهِرًاand outwardlyوَبَاطِنًا،and inwardly,
And praise is to God first and last, outwardly and inwardly,
وَالصَّلَاةُand blessingsوَالسَّلَامُand peaceعَلَىbe uponمُحَمَّدٍMuhammadوَآلِهِand his familyوَصَحْبِهِand his companionsأَجْمَعِينَ.all together.
and blessings and peace be upon Muhammad, his family, and all his companions.
