فِيInبَعْضِsomeالْعُلُومِsciencesالْوَهْبِيَّةِthe divine-gifted

In some of the divine-gifted sciences

تَأْوِيلُInterpretation ofقِصَصِstories ofالْأَنْبِيَاءِthe prophets

Interpretation of the stories of the prophets

مِنَFromالْعُلُومِthe sciences

From the sciences

فِيinعِلْمِthe science ofالتَّفْسِيرِexegesis

in the science of exegesis

الَّتِيwhichسَبَقَتِprecededالْإِشَارَةُthe indicationإِلَيْهَاto it

which was previously indicated

تَأْوِيلُis the interpretation ofقِصَصِstories ofالْأَنْبِيَاءِthe prophets

is the interpretation of the stories of the prophets

عَلَيْهِمُupon themالصَّلَوَاتُbe the prayersوَالتَّسْلِيمَاتُand the peace

upon whom be prayers and peace

وَقَدْAnd indeedأَلَّفَauthoredالْفَقِيرُthe poor servantرِسَالَةًa treatiseفِيinهَذَاthisالْمَوْضُوعِsubject

And the poor servant has authored a treatise on this subject

أَسْمَاهَاnaming itتَأْوِيلَ"Interpretation ofالْأَحَادِيثِthe Discourses"

naming it "Interpretation of the Discourses"

وَالْمُرَادُAnd the intended meaningبِالتَّأْوِيلِby interpretationهُنَاhere

And the intended meaning by interpretation here

أَنَّis thatكُلَّeveryقِصَّةٍstoryوَقَعَتْthat occurred

is that every story that occurred

وَوَرَدَand whose mention cameذِكْرُهَاits mentionفِيinالْقُرْآنِthe Quranالْكَرِيمِthe Noble

and whose mention came in the Noble Quran

كَانَhadلَهَاfor itمَبْدَأٌa beginningوَأَسَاسٌand a foundation

had a beginning and a foundation

مِنْfromصَلَاحِيَّةِthe fitness ofالرَّسُولِthe messengerوَاسْتِعْدَادِهِand his readiness

derived from the messenger's fitness and readiness

وَاسْتِعْدَادِand the readiness ofقَوْمِهِhis people

and the readiness of his people

حَسَبَaccording toتَدْبِيرِthe decree ofاللَّهِAllahعَزَّmightyوَجَلَّand majestic is He

according to the decree of Allah, Mighty and Majestic is He

الَّذِيwhichأَرَادَهُHe willed itسُبْحَانَهُglory be to Himفِيinحِينِهِits time

which He, glory be to Him, willed in its proper time

وَلَعَلَّAnd perhapsهَذَاthisالْمَعْنَىmeaning

And perhaps this meaning

هُوَisمَاwhatيُشِيرُpointsإِلَيْهِto it

is what is pointed to by

قَوْلُهُHis sayingتَعَالَىMost High

His saying, Most High:

وَيُعَلِّمُكَAnd He will teach youمِنْofتَأْوِيلِthe interpretation ofالْأَحَادِيثِthe discourses

And He will teach you of the interpretation of the discourses
