الرَّدُّ

the refutation

لِقَوْمٍ

of a people

the famous

sort.

And indeed, the refutation of a people who were accustomed to famous premises and poetic illusions has preceded here, and most of them were of this sort.

الرَّدُّ

The refutation

The refutation of the distortion:

the distortion

التَّحْرِيفِ

was

بِإِثْبَاتِ

by establishing

أَمْرَيْنِ:

two matters:

And the refutation of the distortion was by establishing two matters:

  • ١
  • 1
  • - أَنَّهُ
  • - That it
  • لَمْ
  • was not
  • يُؤْثَرْ
  • transmitted
  • عَنْ
  • from
  • أَئِمَّةِ
  • the imams
  • الْمِلَّةِ
  • of the upright
  • الْحَنِيفِيَّةِ
  • religion
  • (إِبْرَاهِيمَ
  • (Ibrahim
  • وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ
  • and Ismail
  • وَغَيْرِهِمَا
  • and others besides them
  • مِنَ
  • of
  • الْأَنْبِيَاءِ
  • the past
  • الْمَاضِينَ)
  • prophets)
  • مَا
  • what
  • يَقُولُونَ
  • they say
  • مِنْ
  • of
  • تَحْرِيفَاتٍ.
  • distortions.

1 - That what they say of distortions was not transmitted from the imams of the upright religion (Ibrahim, Ismail, and others of the past prophets).

  • ٢
  • 2
  • - أَنَّهُ
  • - That it is
  • مِنْ
  • from
  • اخْتِرَاعَاتِ
  • the inventions
  • مَنْ
  • of those who
  • لَيْسُوا
  • are not
  • بِمَعْصُومِينَ
  • infallible
  • وَابْتِدَاعَاتِهِمْ.
  • and their innovations.

2 - That it is from the inventions and innovations of those who are not infallible.

And the refutation of deeming the resurrection, gathering, and dispersal far-fetched was through numerous ways.

  • ١
  • 1
  • - بِالْقِيَاسِ
  • - By drawing an analogy
  • عَلَى
  • to
  • إِحْيَاءِ
  • the reviving
  • الْأَرْضِ
  • of the earth
  • بَعْدَ
  • after
  • مَوْتِهَا،
  • its death,
  • وَأَمْثَالِ
  • and examples
  • ذَلِكَ.
  • of that.

1 - By analogy to the revival of the earth after its death, and similar examples.

  • ٢
  • 2
  • - بِتَنْقِيحِ
  • - By refining
  • الْمَنَاطِ
  • the rationale (tanqih al-manat)
  • وَهُوَ

  • عَنْ
  • for
  • بَيَانِ

  • شُمُولِ
  • the comprehensiveness
  • الْقُدْرَةِ
  • of divine
  • الْإِلَهِيَّةِ،
  • power,
  • وَإِمْكَانِ
  • and the possibility
  • الْإِعَادَةِ
  • of repetition/restoration
  • بَعْدَ

  • the beginning,
  • بَلْ
  • nay
  • يُسْرِهَا
  • its ease
  • وَسُهُولَتِهَا.
  • and its simplicity.

2 - By refining the rationale, which is an expression here for clarifying the comprehensiveness of divine power and the possibility of restoration after inception, rather its absolute ease and simplicity.

  • ٣
  • 3
  • - بِبَيَانِ
  • - By clarifying
  • مُوَافَقَةِ
  • the agreement
  • أَهْلِ

3 - By explaining the agreement of all the people of the heavenly books in proclaiming the resurrection and believing in it.
