مِنَfromالشِّرْكِpolytheismوَالْبِدَعِand innovationsوَالْخُرَافَاتِ،and superstitions,

From polytheism, innovations, and superstitions,

وَتَمَكَّنَand has taken holdمِنْهُمُof themالتَّحْرِيفُdistortionوَالتَّشْبِيهُ،and anthropomorphism,

and distortion and anthropomorphism have taken hold of them,

وَتَغَلْغَلَand it penetratedفِيintoنُفُوسِهِمْtheir soulsحَتَّىuntilلَمْdid notتَبْقَremain

and it penetrated their souls until there remained

بِحُكْمِby virtue ofمَاwhatجَاءَcameفِيinالْحَدِيثِthe authenticالصَّحِيحِhadith

by virtue of what came in the authentic hadith:

"لَتَتْبَعُنَّ"You will surely followسُنَنَthe ways ofمَنْthose whoكَانَwereقَبْلَكُمْ،before you,إِلَخ"etc."

"You will surely follow the ways of those who were before you, etc."

بَلِيَّةًa calamityمِنَamongالْبَلَايَاthe calamitiesوَلَاand notفِتْنَةًa trialمِنَamongالْفِتَنِthe trials

no calamity among the calamities and no trial among the trials

إِلَّاexceptوَطَائِفَةٌthat a sectمِنْfromطَوَائِفِsects ofالْمُسْلِمِينَthe Muslims- اسْماً -- by name -تَخُوضُengagesفِيهَاin itوَتَعَلَّقُand clingsبِهَا،to it,

except that a sect from the sects of Muslims - by name - engages in it and clings to it,

عَافَانَاmay Allah saveاللَّهُusسُبْحَانَهُglory be to Himعَنْfromذَلِكَ.that.

may Allah, glory be to Him, save us from that.

وَبِالْجُمْلَةِAnd in shortفَإِنَّindeedرَحْمَةَthe mercy ofاللَّهِAllahتَعَالَىthe Most High- اقْتَضَتْ- necessitatedبِعْثَةَthe sending ofسَيِّدِthe master ofالْأَنْبِيَاءِthe prophetsمُحَمَّدِMuhammadبْنِson ofعَبْدِAbdullahاللَّهِ -- Allahصَلَوَاتُmay the prayers ofاللَّهِAllahوَسَلَامُهُand His peaceعَلَيْهِ -be upon him -فِيinالْجَزِيرَةِthe Arabianالْعَرَبِيَّةِ،Peninsula,

And in short, indeed the mercy of Allah the Most High necessitated the sending of the master of the prophets, Muhammad son of Abdullah - may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him - in the Arabian Peninsula,

وَأَمْرَهُand His commanding himبِإِقَامَةِto establishالْمِلَّةِthe religion ofالْحَنِيفِيَّةِ،Hanifism,

and His commanding him to establish the religion of Hanifism,

وَمُجَادَلَةَand to dispute withهَؤُلَاءِtheseالْفِرَقِsectsالْبَاطِلَةِfalseعَنْthroughطَرِيقِthe way ofالْقُرْآنِthe Greatالْعَظِيمِ،Quran,

and to dispute with these false sects through the way of the Great Quran,

وَقَدْandكَانَwasالِاسْتِدْلَالُthe argumentationفِيinمُجَادَلَتِهِمْdisputing with themبِالْمُسَلَّمَاتِwith the axiomatic truthsالَّتِيwhichهِيَareبَقَايَاthe remnants ofالْمِلَّةِthe religion ofالْإِبْرَاهِيمِيَّةِ،Abraham,

and the argumentation in disputing with them was with the axiomatic truths which are the remnants of the religion of Abraham,

لِيَتَحَقَّقَso thatإِلْزَامٌcompelling proofوَيَقَعَand occurالْإِفْحَامُ.the silencing.

so that compelling proof is established and silencing occurs.

[الْجَدَلُ[The Quranic argumentationالْقُرْآنِيُّwithمَعَthe polytheists:الْمُشْرِكِينَ:]]

[The Quranic argumentation with the polytheists:]

لَقَدْIndeedرَدَّrefutedاللَّهُAllah- تَعَالَى -- the Most High -عَلَىthe polytheistsالْمُشْرِكِينَandوَمُعْتَقَدَاتِهِمُtheir falseالْبَاطِلَةِbeliefsبِشَتَّىin variousالطُّرُقِ،ways,وَبَيَانُهَاand their explanationكَمَاis asيَلِي.follows.

Indeed, Allah - the Most High - refuted the polytheists and their false beliefs in various ways, and their explanation is as follows.

  • ١ -1 -أَوْلَا:First:مُطَالَبَتُهُمْdemanding from themبِالدَّلِيلِthe proofعَلَىforمَاwhatيَزْعُمُونَ،they claim,وَنَقْضُand invalidatingتَمَسُّكِهِمْtheir adherenceبِتَقْلِيدِto the blind following ofآبَائِهِمْ.their forefathers.
  • 1 - First: demanding proof from them for what they claim, and invalidating their adherence to the blind following of their forefathers.

  • ٢ -2 -ثَانِيًا:Second:إِثْبَاتُestablishingأَنْthatلَاthere is noتَسَاوِيَequalityبَيْنَbetweenالرَّبِّthe Lordوَالْعِبَادِand the servants
  • 2 - Second: establishing that there is no equality between the Lord and the servants,

  • وَأَنَّand thatالرَّبَّthe Lord- تَعَالَى -- the Most High -مُخْتَصٌّis exclusively entitledبِاسْتِحْقَاقِto the merit ofأَقْصَىthe utmostغَايَةِlimit ofالتَّعْظِيمِaggrandizementبِخِلَافِunlikeجَمِيعِallعِبَادِهِHis servantsوَجَمِيعِand allمَخْلُوقَاتِهِ.His creations.
  • and that the Lord - the Most High - is exclusively entitled to the merit of the utmost limit of aggrandizement, unlike all His servants and all His creations.
