وَمِنْAnd fromأَمْثِلَةِexamplesالْقَصِيرِ:the short:
And from the examples of the short: Surat Ash-Shu'ara and Ad-Dukhan.

[خَاتِمَةُ[The conclusion ofالنَّفْسِthe breathهِيَisالْقَافِيَةُ:]the rhyme:]
[The conclusion of the breath is the rhyme:]
وَجَعَلْتُAnd I madeخَاتِمَةَthe conclusion ofالنَّفْسِthe breathالْمُعْتَمِدَةَrelyingعَلَىuponحَرْفٍa letterمِنْfromحُرُوفِletters ofالْمَدَّةِprolongationالَّتِيwhichتَعْتَمِدُdependsعَلَىuponحَرْفٍanother letter,آخَرَ،another,
And I made the conclusion of the breath relying upon a letter from the letters of prolongation which depends upon another letter, the wide-scale rhyme.
هِيَit isالْقَافِيَةَthe rhymeالْوَاسِعَةَwide-scale,النِّطَاقِ،scope,
it is the wide-scale rhyme,
تُدْرِكُهَاit is perceived byالطَّبِيعَةُhuman natureالْبَشَرِيَّةُhumanوَتَتَذَوقُهَاand tastes itوَتَجِدُand findsفِيinتَكْرَارِهَاits repetitionاللَّذَّةَdelightوَالْجَمَالَand beauty,
perceived by human nature, tasted, and finding in its repetition delight and beauty,
سَوَاءٌwhetherكَانَتْthisهَذِهِprolongationالْمَدَّةُwasأَلِفاًan Alif,أَوْorوَاوًاa Waw,أَوْorيَاءً،a Ya,
whether this prolongation was an Alif, a Waw, or a Ya,
سَوَاءٌwhetherكَانَwasالْحَرْفُthe letterالَّتِيwhichتَعْتَمِدُit dependsعَلَيْهَاuponبَاءًa Ba,أَوْorمِيمًاa Meem,أَوْorقَافاً.a Qaf.
whether the letter it depends upon was a Ba, a Meem, or a Qaf.
(يَعْلَمُونَ)(They know)(مُؤْمِنِينَ)(believers)(مُسْتَقِيمٍ)(straight)مِنْfromالْقَافِيَةِthe singleالْوَاحِدَةِ:rhyme:
(They know) (believers) (straight) from the single rhyme:
وَعَلَىAnd uponهَذَاthisفَإِنَّthenهَذِهِtheseالْفَوَاصِلَpausesكَـlike(يَعْلَمُونَ)(They know)(مُؤْمِنِينَ)(believers)وَand(مُسْتَقِيمٍ)(straight)كُلَّهَاall of themمُتَوَافِقَةٌconcordantمُتَلَائِمَةٌ.harmonious.
And upon this, these pauses like (They know), (believers), and (straight) are all concordant and harmonious.
كَذَلِكَLikewise(خُرُوجٌ)(exit)(مَرِيجٌ)(confused)(تَحِيدُ)(turn away)(نَارٌ)(fire)(فِوَاقٍ)(respite)وَand(عُجَابٌ)(wonderful)كُلَّهَاall of themعَلَىuponقَاعِدَةٍa singleوَاحِدَةٍ.base.
Likewise (exit), (confused), (turn away), (fire), (respite), and (wonderful) are all upon a single base.
مَدَّةُThe prolongation ofالْأَلِفِthe Alifقَافِيَةٌis a wideمُتَسِعَةٌ:rhyme:
The prolongation of the Alif is a wide rhyme:
كَذَلِكَLikewiseلُحُوقُthe attachment ofالْأَلِفِthe Alifفِيatآخِرِthe end ofالْكَلِمَةِ،the word,قَافِيَةٌis a wideمُتَسِعَةٌ،rhyme,
Likewise, the attachment of the Alif at the end of the word is a wide rhyme,
يُنْشِئُit createsتَكْرَارُهَاits repetitionوَإِعَادَتُهَاand its re-renderingلَذَّةًdelightفِيinالنَّفْسِ،the soul,
its repetition and re-rendering create delight in the soul,
مَهْمَاno matterكَانَwhatحَرْفُthe letter ofالرَّوِيِّrhymeمُخْتَلِفاًwas different,وَمِثْلَand like(كَرِيماً)("generous")فِيinمَوْضِعٍa placeوَand(حَدِيثاً)("new/story")فِيinمَوْضِعٍanotherآخَرَplace.
no matter how different the letter of rhyme was, like ("generous") in one place and ("new") in another place.
