The second chapter
فِيInتَقْسِيمِdividingالسُّوَرِthe chaptersإِلَىintoالْآيَاتِversesوَأُسْلُوبِهَاand its styleالْفَرِيدِunique
On dividing the chapters into verses and its unique style
بَيْنَBetweenالْآيَاتِthe versesوَالْأَبْيَاتِ:and the poetic lines:
Between verses and poetic lines:
لَقَدْIndeedجَرَتْhas runسُنَّةُthe wayاللَّهِof Allah- تَعَالَى -- the Most High -فِيinالسُّوَرِthe surahsالْقُرْآنِيَّةِQuranicبِتَقْسِيمِهَاby dividing themإِلَىintoالْآيَاتِverses
Indeed, Allah's way - the Most High - in the Quranic surahs has been to divide them into verses
كَمَاjust asأَنَّthatالْقَصَائِدَpoemsتُقَسَّمُare dividedإِلَىintoالْأَبْيَاتِ،poetic lines,
just as poems are divided into poetic lines,
وَمَعْلُومٌand it is knownأَنَّthatهُنَاكَthere isفَرْقاًa differenceبَيْنَbetweenالْآيَاتِversesوَالْأَبْيَاتِ،and poetic lines,
and it is known that there is a difference between verses and poetic lines,
ثُمَّthenإِنَّindeedالْآيَاتِthe versesوَالْأَبْيَاتِand poetic linesكُلَّeachوَاحِدَةٍoneمِنْهُمَاof themمِنْis fromقَبِيلِthe categoryالنَّشِيدِ،of chant,
then each of the verses and poetic lines belongs to the category of chant,
الَّذِيwhichيُقَالُis saidوَيُنْشَدُand chantedلِالتِذَاذِfor the enjoymentنَفْسِof the soulالْمُتَكَلِّمِof the speakerوَالسَّامِعِand the listenerوَمُتْعَتِهِمَاand their pleasureالْفَنِّيَّةِ،artistic,
which is spoken and chanted for the enjoyment and artistic pleasure of both the speaker and the listener,
إِلَّاexceptأَنَّthatالْأَبْيَاتِpoetic linesالشِّعْرِيَّةَpoeticتَكُونُareمُقَيَّدَةًboundبِالْعَرُوضِby prosodyوَالْقَوَافِيand rhymesالَّتِيwhichدَوَّنَهَاrecordedالْخَلِيلُAl-Khalilبْنُson ofأَحْمَدَ،Ahmad,
except that poetic lines are bound by prosody and rhymes which Al-Khalil bin Ahmad recorded,
وَتَلَقَّاهَاand received themمِنْهُfrom himالشُّعَرَاءُpoetsوَجَرَوْاand followedعَلَيْهَا.them.
and poets received them from him and followed them.
بِنَاءُThe constructionالْآيَاتِof the versesعَلَىuponالْوَزْنِthe meterوَالْقَافِيَةِand rhymeالطَّبِيعِيَّةِ:natural:
The construction of verses upon natural meter and rhyme:
أَمَّاAs forالْآيَاتِthe versesفَإِنَّthen indeedبِنَاءَهَاtheir constructionعَلَىis uponالْوَزْنِthe meterوَالْقَافِيَةِand rhymeالْإِجْمَالِيَّةِoverallالَّتِيwhichتُشْبِهُresemblesالْحَقِيقَةَthe truthالطَّبِيعِيَّةَnatural
As for the verses, their construction is upon overall meter and rhyme which resembles natural truth
لَاnotعَلَىuponأَفَاعِيلِthe measuresالْعَرُوضِيِّينَof prosodistsوَتَفَاعِيلِهِمْ،and their feet,
not upon the measures of prosodists and their feet,
وَالْقَوَافِيand the rhymesالْمَحْدُودَةِlimitedالَّتِيwhichهِيَareشَيْءٌsomethingصِنَاعِيٌّartificialوَاصْطِلَاحِيٌّand conventionalلَيْسَnotغَيْرَ.other than that.
and the limited rhymes which are merely something artificial and conventional.
الْقَدْرُThe amountالْمُشْتَرَكُsharedبَيْنَbetweenالْآيَاتِversesوَالْأَبْيَاتِ:and poetic lines:
The shared amount between verses and poetic lines:
أَمَّاAs forتَنْقِيحُrefiningالْقَدْرِthe amountالْإِجْمَالِيِّoverallالْمُشْتَرَكِsharedالَّذِيwhichيَنْفَقُappliesفِيtoالْآيَاتِverses
As for refining the overall shared amount which applies to verses
