بِالْمِنْدِيلِwith the napkin..

With the napkin.

وَلَهُand for itأَيْضًاalsoتَفْسِيرٌan interpretationآخَرُanother،,وَلَيْسَand notهُوَitالَّذِيthat whichتَظُنُّهُyou think it،,وَandهُوَitمَلِيحٌnice،,وَandسَيَقَعُwill occurفِيinمَوْضِعِهِits place،,إِنْifشَاءَhe willsاللَّهُGod..

And it has also another interpretation, and it is not what you think, and it is nice, and it will occur in its place, God willing.

وَand«الْمُقَوِّرُ»“Al-Muqawwir”،,الَّذِيthe one whoيُقَوِّرُhollows outالْجَرَادِقَthe loaves،,وَandيَسْتَأْثِرُhe takes exclusivelyبِالْأَوْسَاطِthe centers،,وَandيَدَعُhe leavesلِأَصْحَابِهِfor his companionsالْحُرُوفَthe crusts..

And “Al-Muqawwir” is the one who hollows out the loaves, and takes exclusively the centers, and leaves the crusts for his companions.

وَand«الْمُغَرْبِلُ»“Al-Mugharbil”،,الَّذِيthe one whoيَأْخُذُtakesوِعَاءَthe containerالْمِلْحِof salt،,فَيُدِيرُهُand he rotates itإِدَارَةَrotationالْغِرْبَالِof the sieveلِيَجْمَعَto collectأَبَازِيرَهُits spices،,يَسْتَأْثِرُhe takes exclusivelyبِهِwith itدُونَwithoutأَصْحَابِهِhis companions..لَاnotيُبَالِيhe caresأَنْthatيَدَعَhe leavesمِلْحَهُمْtheir saltبِلَاwithoutأَبْزَارٍ1spices..

And “Al-Mugharbil” is the one who takes the salt container and rotates it like a sieve to collect its spices, taking them exclusively for himself without his companions. He does not care if he leaves their salt without spices.

وَand«الْمُحَلْقِمُ»“Al-Muhalqim”،,الَّذِيthe one whoيَتَكَلَّمُspeaks،,وَandاللُّقْمَةُthe morselقَدْalreadyبَلَغَتْreachedحُلْقُومَهُhis throat..نَقُولُwe sayلِهٰذَاto this one::قَبِيحٌugly!!دَعْleaveالْكَلَامَthe speechإِلَىtoوَقْتِtimeإِمْكَانِهِits possibility..

And “Al-Muhalqim” is the one who speaks while the morsel has already reached his throat. We say to him: Ugly! Leave speech until its possible time.

وَand«الْمُسَوِّغُ»“Al-Musawwigh”الَّذِيthe one whoيُعَظِّمُmagnifiesاللُّقَمَthe mouthfuls،,فَلَاand notيَزَالُhe ceasesقَدْalreadyغَصَّhe choked،,وَandلَاnotيَزَالُhe ceasesيُسِيغُهُhe swallows itبِالْمَاءِwith water..

And “Al-Musawwigh” is the one who makes the mouthfuls large, so he keeps choking and keeps swallowing them with water.

وَand«الْمُلَغِّمُ»“Al-Mulaghghim”::الَّذِيthe one whoيَأْخُذُtakesحُرُوفَcrustsالرَّغِيفِof the loaf،,أَوْorيَغْمِزُhe pressesظَهْرَthe backالتَّمْرَةِof the dateبِإِبْهَامِهِwith his thumb،,لِيَحْمِلَاso that they carryلَهُfor himمِنَfromالزُّبْدِthe butterوَandالسَّمْنِthe clarified butter،,وَandمِنَfromاللِّبَأِ2the colostrumوَandاللَّبَنِthe milk،,وَandمِنَfromالْبَيْضِthe eggsالنِّيمْبَرِشْتِ3the soft-boiled،,أَكْثَرَmore..

And “Al-Mulaghghim” is the one who takes the crusts of the loaf, or presses the back of the date with his thumb, so that they carry for him more butter, ghee, colostrum, milk, and soft-boiled eggs.

وَand«الْمُخَضِّرُ»“Al-Mukhadhdhir”،,الَّذِيthe one whoيَدْلُكُrubsيَدَهُhis handبِالْأُشْنَانِwith the potashمِنَfromالْغَمْرِ4the greaseوَandالْوَدَكِ5the fat،,حَتَّىuntilإِذَاwhenاخْضَرَّit became greenishوَandاسْوَدَّbecame blackمِنَfromالدَّرَنِthe dirt،,دَلَكَhe rubbedبِهِwith itشَفَتَهُhis lip..

And “Al-Mukhadhdhir” is the one who rubs his hand with potash from the grease and fat, until when it has become greenish and blackened with dirt, he rubs his lip with it.

هٰذَاthisتَفْسِيرُinterpretation ofمَاwhatذَكَرَmentionedالْحَارِثِيُّAl-Harithiمِنْfromكَلَامِspeech ofأَبِيAbiفَاتِكٍFatik..فَأَمَّاbut as forمَاwhatذَكَرَهُhe mentionedهُوَhe::

This is the interpretation of what Al-Harithi mentioned from the speech of Abi Fatik. But as for what he himself mentioned:

فَإِنَّthen indeed«اللَّطَّاعَ»“Al-Latta’”مَعْرُوفٌknown،,وَandهُوَheالَّذِيthe one whoيَلْطَعُlicksإِصْبَعَهُhis finger،,ثُمَّthenيُعِيدُهَاreturns itفِيinمَرَقِbroth ofالْقَوْمِthe peopleأَوْorلَبَنِهِمْtheir milkأَوْorسَوِيقِهِمْtheir sawiq،,وَandمَاwhatأَشْبَهَresemblesذٰلِكَthat..

For indeed “Al-Latta’” is known: he is the one who licks his finger, then returns it into the people’s broth, their milk, their sawiq, and the like.

  1. 1.أَيْ: الَّذِي يَسْتَأْثِرُ بِالْأَبَازِيرِ وَلَا يُبَالِي أَنْ يَتْرُكَ الْمِلْحَ بِغَيْرِ أَبَازِيرَ.

    That is: the one who takes the spices exclusively and does not care if he leaves the salt without spices.

  2. 2.اللِّبَأُ: أَوَّلُ اللَّبَنِ عِنْدَ الْوِلَادَةِ.

    Al-liba': the first milk after giving birth.

  3. 3.النِّيمْبَرِشْتِ: لَفْظَةٌ أَعْجَمِيَّةٌ تَعْنِي الْبَيْضَ الْمَطْهُوَ جُزْئِيًّا.

    Al-nimbarisht: a foreign word meaning partially cooked eggs.

  4. 4.الْغَمْرُ: الدَّسَمُ وَالشَّحْمُ الَّذِي يَلْزَقُ بِالْيَدِ مِنَ اللَّحْمِ وَغَيْرِهِ.

    Al-ghamr: the grease and fat that sticks to the hand from meat and other things.

  5. 5.الْوَدَكُ: دَسَمُ اللَّحْمِ، وَيُقَالُ لَهُ أَيْضًا: الْوَدَكُ.

    Al-wadak: the fat of meat, also called al-wadak.
